ORLANDO -- A University of Central Florida police officer is under investigation after video of a traffic stop showed him smash a car window when he said the driver started to roll it up on his hand. The traffic stop happened Wednesday, Sept. 4 along Gemini Boulevard on the UCF campus. Video from UCF Police Officer Timothy Isaacs's lapel camera showed him pull over Victoria King for a broken brake light. King, who was 25 at the time, said the car was her mother's, and she did not have the vehicle's registration card. After Isaacs processed King's information and walked back to her car to give her a ticket, King, who was identified as a UCF student, became upset and refused to roll down the window when the officer asked multiple times. When she refused to roll down her window all the way, Isaacs then asked King to step out of the car. The video showed King asking the officer what law said that she must obey those orders. Isaacs told her she was being detained for a traffic infraction, and warned her he would break the window if she didn't comply. Isaacs then put his hand on the top of the window, which was rolled down about a quarter of the way. After he did that, Isaacs said King started to roll up the window on his arm, prompting him to shatter the car window. "I forcefully pulled my arm back and broke the window due to the defendant's blatant disregard to all of the orders that were given to her, and her attempt to close the window on my arm," Isaacs wrote in an arrest affidavit. After shattering the window, Isaacs and another responding UCF police officer grabbed King's arms and took her out of the vehicle. Isaacs said King continued to resist arrest as they got her out of the car and put her in handcuffs. King was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer -- one count of resisting with violence, and a second count for resisting without violence. She has since filed a formal complaint against Isaacs. In the video, King said she was bleeding. Isaacs also wrote in the arrest report that King told officers she was having a miscarriage, but after a medic arrived, it was discovered that King did not know for sure whether or not she was pregnant. King refused transport to a hospital, Isaacs said. UCF said it would not comment on the incident, since the investigation was ongoing.

This partially updates the following posts Todays Executions Clayton Lockett and Charles Warner. and this Court reschedules executions of two Oklahoma inmates after state can't find supply of killer drugs There was supposed to be a double execution in an Oklahoma prison this evening but things went wrong. I will update as more info is released. This is all that I can find that has been published as it's a very current event. TULSA, Oklahoma -The execution of an Oklahoma stalled after officials originally said the chemicals never made it into his blood stream. Reports say the execution started at 6:23 p.m and at various times Clayton Lockett could be seen moving and uttering words. Soon after they stopped the execution saying the chemicals never made it into his blood stream. At 7:06 p.m. Lockett died of a massive heart attack in the execution chamber. In my opinion, the electric chair should be re instituted, using untested drugs and botching the execution seems just as inhumane. source http://ift.tt/1iAcUtX

Saudi Arabia has criticised Norway's human rights record, accusing the country of failing to protect its Muslim citizens and not doing enough to counter criticism of the prophet Mohammed. The gulf state called for all criticism of religion and of prophet Mohammed to be made illegal in Norway. It also expressed concern at "increasing cases of domestic violence, rape crimes and inequality in riches" and noted a continuation of hate crimes against Muslims in the country. The Scandinavian nation came under scrutiny during the United Nations' Universal Periodic Review, in which 14 States are scheduled to have their human rights records examined. Russia meanwhile called for Norway to clamp down on expressions of religious intolerance and and criticised the country's child welfare system. They also recommended that Norway improve its correctional facilities for those applying for asylum status. Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende was in Geneva to hear the concerns from 91 other countries. He told Norway's NTB newswire prior to the hearing: "It is a paradox that countries which do not support fundamental human rights have influence on the council, but that is the United Nations," reported The Local. Human Rights Watch last report noted that in 2012 Saudi Arabia "stepped up arrests and trials of peaceful dissidents, and responded with force to demonstrations by citizens." It continued "Authorities continue to suppress or fail to protect the rights of 9 million Saudi women and girls and 9 million foreign workers. As in past years, thousands of people have received unfair trials or been subject to arbitrary detention. The year has seen trials against half-a-dozen human rights defenders and several others for their peaceful expression or assembly demanding political and human rights reforms."

Davenport University held their annual graduation at Van Andel Arena Sunday afternoon, and hundreds of studentsreceived their diplomas in front of a large crowd of family and friends. One student, Robert Jeffrey Blank, went a little toofar in expressing how excited he was to receive his diploma. After shaking hands with Davenport University President Richard Pappas and several members of the Davenport University's board of trustees, Blank tried to do a back flip on stage. Unfortunately, it didn't end the way he planned, and he landed face down,mid-flip. Thankfully, Blank picked himself and left the stage after the embarrassing attempt. Officials with the school said Blank wasn't hurt, and wasn't in any trouble for the stunt.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Davenport graduate who tried to show off how excited he was about receiving his diploma fell a little short on Sunday - and it was all caught on camera. At the downhill world cup in Cairns, Australia this Saturday Adam Brayton took a severe crash and a spectator jumped on his bike and tried to ride the course. Brayton had to be evac'd from the course with an injured leg. Brayton said: "Yo just hit a tree in my run, spectators were awesome couldn't thank them enough. The guy who took my bike down was a good man, no idea why he hit the whoops but I don't blame him they were sick. I think he's ok though he was in my ambulance on a spine board and was pretty k'od but that's all I know I'm going to pop down to hospital tomorrow and see how he's doing" The spectator suffered a dislocated shoulder and two fractured vertebrae.

It's a video from a school in the Netherlands. People were having fun because the exams are coming and that means the end of school year is approaching. It's tradition - people do crazy stuff, paint the whole school, make a mess of everything, flood the toilets, sleep in the school overnight and other such craziness. In the video, someone tried to climb up the school building wall and fell. the video was not filmed by me, it's from someone I know. I saw it happen and was around 50 meters away from it. The guy on the camera was even screaming jump, jump, jump! The school kid was picked up by an ambulance and is in critical condition in a hospital. Vertical recording.

Gun-grabber Michael Bloomberg recently launched Everytown For Gun Safety, a fear-mongering anti-gun group intended to take on groups like the NRA. It's only logical that anti-2nd Amendment groups would work hard to combat the 80,000+ strong NRA annual meeting happening this week in Indianapolis... and Lord knows, they're trying. Unfortunately for them, it looks like Hoosiers appreciate their guns as much as the rest of the country. Yesterday, Hoosiers Concerned About Gun Violence held a rally that drew a full 25 protesters. They read names of people killed by guns. A grandmother spoke about the murder of her grandson, making sure to convey that her black grandson was killed by a 55-year-old white man. Race makes the argument more powerful, right? "It was clear that she was not talking about "sensible" gun reform," says WIBC's Tony Katz, who was in attendance. "She was there to have a conversation about race. It was odd, unfortunate and unnecessary. It completely undercut any 'legitimate' conversation they were having at the rally." Katz went on to address another speaker, Dr. Steve Posner, who said that the NRA is funded by gun manufacturers, so they can't be objective. The assertion is odd, he says, since "Everytown got $50 million from Bloomberg, and he wants to grab the guns as well. When its their money, its grass roots. When its someone else's money, it's obscene and wrong and evil and destroying America." Meanwhile, Everytown For Gun Safety dropped a report entitled "Not your grandparents' NRA," that portrays the NRA as a radicalized, murderous group, as opposed to the small gun club it was in its inception. http://ift.tt/1k1FhCM

I thought that it was me braking too hard but with a few of my friends having a look they think it must have been oil or something since I lowsided halfway through already braking. I still think it was likely my combination of braking. A lesson learned. I didn't check later for oil or anything one of the last things on my mind and it wouldn't make any difference. Got the wind knocked out of me so it took ages for me to get up. I spent two and a half hours in hospital getting checked out since I hit my head rather hard which is making me buy a new helmet. I got a clean bill of health with nothing serious. Just going to have aches and pains for the next few days with a sprain wrist. The Doctor I spoke to was a want to be biker her self but she was explaining how her mum was refusing to allow her. Her brothers both had bikes and both of them had crashed. One worse than the other resulting in a few broken bones and no bike to go back to. We started talking about what bikes we wanted next and it was a good talk. She said that it just goes to show that gear does work. No road rash which is good ha. The bike was overall fine. Just cosmetic damage. It is however a HONDA CBF so it is built like a tank. Around lb300 in damage including the new helmet and fairings. I think I am going to invest into crash protectors to minimize any future damage is I crash like this or different. I would however like to say thanks to all the people who stopped to check on me. I feel like a dick for not saying thanks to them but it was the last thing I was thinking of. On the plus side I got a day off work

The covert operation known as Eagle Claw was meant to release the former US embassy staff held in Tehran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. But a sandstorm hit and brought down the group of US military aircraft in Tabas desert, killing eight American servicemen there. Inspections showed a helicopter crashed into a Hercules transport plane as five other choppers were stranded in the storm. The units involved in the operation were from the US Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. Iran commemorates the event every year as a symbol of the US failure against the country.

Hamas is the reconciliation agreement's biggest winner. The Islamist group controlling Gaza is currently facing a severe economic and political crisis, and is unable to meet the needs of the Strip's 1.5 million residents. After it turned its back on Syria and Iran, Hamas also lost Egyptian support following the ascent of the current regime there, which views it as an ally of the Muslim Brotherhood and as a group that threatens Egyptian security. As such, General al-Sisi's forces are actively destroying tunnel after tunnel connecting Gaza to Egypt, and only occasionally open the Rafah crossing. The unity deal signed Wednesday gives Hamas international legitimacy, which could allow it to receive aid and donations to help it extract itself from the crippling crisis threatening both its rule and the wellbeing of Gaza's people. Today, even Turkey and Qatar are fulfilling their pledge of sending aid to Gaza. But even more importantly for Hamas, the deal makes Abbas the person responsible for the welfare of Gaza's impoverished residents. The PA president is already footing the bill for Gaza's gas stations - Israel, of course, supplies the gas itself. Abbas has also been paying the wages of Fatah-affiliated teachers in Gaza, who have been sitting idle since 2007. But now Abbas is responsible for everyone. He will have to figure out how to raise funds from the Americans and Europeans - funds that will have to reach Hamas and other Gaza-based institutions. Another perk for Hamas is that they and other Gaza groups such as Islamic Jihad will be offered membership in the Palestinian Liberation Organization, a move that could allow Hamas to take over the organization that is the legal representation of the Palestinian people. It is important to bear in mind that Abbas derives most of his legitimacy from the fact that he is the leader of the PLO. If Hamas manages to seize power of the organization, it will take on a new, militant tone. In contrast, Abbas and his Fatah party do not get that much out of this newfound unity. They get brownie points for actually reaching the deal, which is highly popular in the West Bank and the refugee camps. Abbas also gains an additional whip to wave at the Israelis and Americans regarding the renewal of peace talks. One should note that, despite his statement on the lack of incongruence between the Hamas-Fatah unity and the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian talks, if the conditions Abbas recently laid out for extending negotiations with Israel are met, he can still scupper this deal with Hamas just as he has done before. Conversely, should Israel fail to meet his demands, he can blame them and the Americans for pushing him into the arms of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees. This aside, he has more to lose than to gain. Abbas has good reason to be displeased with the agreement. He knows that any thaw in ties between him, Hamas and Islamic Jihad will be a cause for concern around the world, specifically in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which are increasingly hostile towards the Muslim Brotherhood and their ilk. But above all, the deal with Hamas poses a real threat to Fatah's rule in the West Bank. Hamas could take over and drag the West Bank into a violent conflict with Israel, thus exporting the economic turmoil currently plaguing Gaza to the West Bank. http://ift.tt/1iQcsMS

It seems only yesterday, before the soothing elixir of "hope and change" was spoonfed to us by present-President Barack Obama, that Republicans could disagree with Democrats without being branded "teabaggers,"KKK-members, anarchists, Nazis, bomb throwers, arsonists, political terrorists or extremists. The unspeakable crime of conservatives? Their heartless desire to live their own lives and to be left alone by the bullying U.S. government. What has been the conservative outcry since disco was still a thing? Follow the Constitution, be fiscally responsible, and restore limited government. Not to impose their will on anyone; and if anything, simply to work, prosper, express themselves freely and be allowed to watch the new season of 24 in peace. Unfortunately, this doesn't jibe with the progressives' plans for control over Americans' lives - regarding everything from education to dish detergent. There is no natural barrier to the left's powerlust: the "progressive" seeks no less than to control the social and physical environment of all mankind. Their philosophy is the very essence of extremism, and the left's only response for the question "How much power do you seek?" is more. Leftists are kind of like drug addicts, and their drug of choice is sending people legalistic form letters along with demands to pay for whatever idea just popped into their heads while doing real drugs. (Kind of kidding on that last part.) Yet the irony is that the United States was founded in freedom, and there is nothing stopping leftists from attempting to implement their utopian schemes in reality now (the operative term being "attempting") without forcing the entire nation to participate. In fact, many utopian societies have been tried and have failed; and those that have had limited success have not been voluntarily copied by many other communities; namely, because the American experiment tends to lead to greater success - including the ability to work a few hours a week and eat cookie dough Oreos while playing PS4 in your mom's basement. The point isn't whether or not societies flourish or fail, but rather that human beings are respected in the process of choosing how they live their own lives. The states were once called the "laboratories of democracy," but their powers are increasingly ignored by the federal government. The empire of self government that was to be America is being transfigured into a rather ugly strong-arming of fellow subjects into a mutual suicide pact: when the terms of our associations are formed and proceed along the lines of coercion, rather than voluntarism and individual agreement, then extremism will arise under various guises. When nations depart from what John Locke formulated as the "consent" of the governed (a term that was incorporated into The Declaration of Independence), that is when extremism tends to arise. Currently fewer than one in five Americans believe the U.S. government has the "consent of the governed." Liberty was to be the great solution for national discord and factional strife. At the end of the day, there should only be so much a bunch of partisan lunatics can accomplish through central government - only so much "revenge" that can be carried out, as our current president put it. When Senators can be implicated in sending virtual armies to harass citizens over infringements of state property; when the tax agency can be so politicized as to be abused as a weapon of suppression against one's foes; when the head of law enforcement can decide to prosecute or not to prosecute violations of civil liberties on the basis of skin color - one is no longer living under a constitutionally limited government, but in a climate of political extremism. The American government was originally designed to ensure individual liberty and personal security over the fleeting and illusory form of "social security" that is inevitably promised by a power-hungry government. The drive for a paternalistic form of security undermines the political and economic order of safe-guarded liberty; the foundation on which only a long-term form of security, from tyranny or from revolutionary tumult, is conceivably possible. Madison put the reasoning for limited government best in Federalist 51: Ambition must be made to counteract ambition. The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place. It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. What makes Constitutional conservatives different from progressives is that they do not desire to rule their political opposition or otherwise impose their will on their fellow citizens. Instead, most conservatives want to restore the nation to its Constitutional foundations, establish fiscal responsibility in government, reinstate the free market economic principles that allowed the majority of the nation to prosper, and renew the virtue in individuals to see human beings as ends in themselves, and not as means to some political end. Ultimately, the Constitution, the embodiment of those founding principles that many conservatives cherish most, is specifically designed to protect American citizens from political threats arising from both the right and the left. Leftists, on the other hand, are for complete state control of economy, society, and the government, making them the true extremists. http://ift.tt/1iNjIZP

http://ift.tt/1gRu4DO By Ellen Brown Global Research, April 23, 2014 Web of Debt Sixteen of the world's largest banks have been caught colluding to rig global interest rates. Why are we doing business with a corrupt global banking cartel? United States Attorney General Eric Holder has declared that the too-big-to-fail Wall Street banks are too big to prosecute . But an outraged California jury might have different ideas. As noted in the California legal newspaper The Daily Journal : California juries are not bashful - they have been known to render massive punitive damages awards that dwarf the award of compensatory (actual) damages. For example, in one securities fraud case jurors awarded $5.7 million in compensatory damages and $165 million in punitive damages. . . . And in a tobacco case with $5.5 million in compensatory damages, the jury awarded $3 billion in punitive damages . . . . The question, then, is how to get Wall Street banks before a California jury. How about charging them with common law fraud and breach of contract? That's what the FDIC just did in its massive 24-count civil suit for damages for LIBOR manipulation, filed in March 2014 against sixteen of the world's largest banks, including the three largest US banks - JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America and Citigroup. LIBOR (the London Interbank Offering Rate) is the benchmark rate at which banks themselves can borrow. It is a crucial rate involved in over $400 trillion in derivatives called interest-rate swaps, and it is set by the sixteen private megabanks behind closed doors. The biggest victims of interest-rate swaps have been local governments, universities, pension funds, and other public entities. The banks have made renegotiating these deals prohibitively expensive, and renegotiation itself is an inadequate remedy. It is the equivalent of the grocer giving you an extra potato when you catch him cheating on the scales. A legal action for fraud is a more fitting and effective remedy. Fraud is grounds both for rescission (calling off the deal) as well as restitution (damages), and in appropriate cases punitive damages. Trapped in a Fraud Nationally, municipalities and other large non-profits are thought to have as much as $300 billion in outstanding swap contracts based on LIBOR, deals in which they are trapped due to prohibitive termination fees. According to a 2010 report by the SEIU (Service Employees International Union): The overall effect is staggering. Banks are estimated to have collected as much as $28 billion in termination fees alone from state and local governments over the past two years. This does not even begin to account for the outsized net payments that state and local governments are now making to the banks. . . . While the press have reported numerous stories of cities like Detroit, caught with high termination payments, the reality is there are hundreds (maybe even thousands) more cities, counties, utility districts, school districts and state governments with swap agreements are causing cash strapped local and city governments to pay millions of dollars in unneeded fees directly to Wall Street. All of these entities could have damage claims for fraud, breach of contract and rescission; and that is true whether or not they negotiated directly with one of the LIBOR-rigging banks. To understand why, it is necessary to understand how swaps work. As explained in my last article here , interest-rate swaps are sold to parties who have taken out loans at variable interest rates, as insurance against rising rates. The most common swap is one where counterparty A (a university, municipal government, etc.) pays a fixed rate to counterparty B (the bank), while receiving from B a floating rate indexed to a reference rate such as LIBOR. If interest rates go up, the municipality gets paid more on the swap contract, offsetting its rising borrowing costs. If interest rates go down, the municipality owes money to the bank on the swap, but that extra charge is offset by the falling interest rate on its variable rate loan. The result is to fix borrowing costs at the lower variable rate. At least, that is how they are supposed to work. The catch is that the swap is a separate financial agreement - essentially an ongoing bet on interest rates. The borrower owes both the interest onits variable rate loan and what it must pay on its separate swap deal. And the benchmarks for the two rates don't necessarily track each other. The rate owed on the debt is based on something called the SIFMA municipal bond index. The rate owed by the bank is based on the privately-fixed LIBOR rate. As noted by Stephen Gandel on CNNMoney , when the rate-setting banks started manipulating LIBOR, the two rates decoupled, sometimes radically. Public entities wound up paying substantially more than the fixed rate they had bargained for - a failure of consideration constituting breach of contract. Breach of contract is grounds for rescission and damages. Pain and Suffering in California The SEIU report noted that no one has yet completely categorized all the outstanding swap deals entered into by local and state governments. But in a sampling of swaps within California, involving ten cities and counties (San Francisco, Corcoran, Los Angeles, Menlo Park, Oakland, Oxnard, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Riverside, and Sacramento), one community college district, one utility district, one transportation authority, and the state itself, the collective tab was $365 million in swap payments annually, with total termination fees exceeding $1 billion. Omitted from the sample was the University of California system, which alone is reported to have lost tens of millions of dollars on interest-rate swaps. According to an article in the Orange County Register on February 24, 2014, the swaps now cost the university system an estimated $6 million a year. University accountants estimate that the10-campus system will lose as much as $136 million over the next 34 years if it remains locked into the deals, losses that would be reduced only if interest rates started to rise. According to the article: Already officials have been forced to unwind a contract at UC Davis, requiring the university to pay $9 million in termination fees and other costs to several banks. That sum would have covered the tuition and fees of 682 undergraduates for a year. The university is facing the losses at a time when it is under tremendous financial stress. Administrators have tripled the cost of tuition and fees in the past 10 years, but still can't cover escalating expenses. Class sizes have increased. Families have been angered by the rising price of attending the university, which has left students in deeper debt. Peter Taylor, the university's Chief Financial Officer, defended the swaps, saying he was confident that interest rates would rise in coming years, reversing what the deals have lost. But for that to be true, rates would have to rise by multiples that would drive interest on the soaring federal debt to prohibitive levels, something the Federal Reserve is not likely to allow. The Revolving Door The UC's dilemma is explored in a report titled " Swapping Our Future: How Students and Taxpayers Are Funding Risky UC Borrowing and Wall Street Profits ." The authors, a group called Public Sociologists of Berkeley, say that two factors were responsible for the precipitous decline in interest rates that drove up UC's relative borrowing costs. One was the move by the Federal Reserve to push interest rates to record lows in order to stabilize the largest banks. The other was the illegal effort by major banks to manipulate LIBOR, which indexes interest rates on most bonds issued by UC. Why, asked the authors, has UC's management not tried to renegotiate the deals? They pointed to the revolving door between management and Wall Street. Unlike in earlier years, current and former business and finance executives now play a prominent role on the UC Board of Regents. They include Chief Financial Officer Taylor, who walked through the revolving door from Lehman Brothers, where he was a top banker in Lehman's municipal finance business in 2007. That was when the bank sold the university a swap related to debt at UCLA that has now become the source of its biggest swap losses. The university hired Taylor for his $400,000-a-year position in 2009, and he has continued to sign contracts for swaps on its behalf since. Investigative reporter Peter Byrne notes that the UC regent's investment committee controls $53 billion in Wall Street investments, and that historically it has been plagued by self-dealing. Byrne writes: Several very wealthy, politically powerful men are fixtures on the regent's investment committee, including Richard C. Blum (Wall Streeter, war contractor, and husband of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein), and Paul Wachter (Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's long-time business partner and financial advisor). The probability of conflicts of interest inside this committee- as it moves billions of dollars between public and private companies and investment banks-is enormous. Blum's firm Blum Capital is also an adviser to CalPERS, the California Public Employees' Retirement System, which also got caught in the LIBOR-rigging scandal. "Once again," said CalPERS Chief Investment Officer Joseph Dear of the LIBOR-rigging, "the financial services industry demonstrated that it cannot be trusted to make decisions in the long-term interests of investors." If the financial services industry cannot be trusted, it needs to be replaced with something that can be. Remedies The Public Sociologists of Berkeley recommend renegotiation of the onerous interest rate swaps, which could save up to $200 million for the UC system; and evaluation of the university's legal options concerning the manipulation of LIBOR. As demonstrated in the new FDIC suit, those options include not just renegotiating on better terms but rescission and damages for fraud and breach of contract. These are remedies that could be sought by local governments and public entities across the state and the nation. The larger question is why our state and local governments continue to do business with a corrupt global banking cartel. There is an alternative. They could set up their own publicly-owned banks, on the model of the state-owned Bank of North Dakota. Fraud could be avoided, profits could be recaptured, and interest could become a much-needed source of public revenue. Credit could become a public utility, dispensed as needed to benefit local residents and local economies. Ellen Brown is an attorney, founder of the Public Banking Institute , and a candidate for California State Treasurer running on a state bank platform. She is the author of twelve books, including the best-selling Web of Debt and her latest book, The Public Bank Solution , which explores successful public banking models historically and globally.

Wall Street Greed and the Corrupt Global Banking Cartel: Too Big to Prosecute? Not for a California Jury

By: jironde on: 4:52 AM
Hamas or Israel? Netanyahu says Palestinian Authority must choose Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas must choose either peace with Israel or an alliance with Hamas, but he cannot have both, Israel's PM has said. His comments come after the Palestinian Authority restarted talks on a unity government with Hamas. During a meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said if the Palestinian Authority united with Hamas it would bring an end to the US-sponsored peace talks. "Instead of moving into peace with Israel, he's moving into peace with Hamas," Netanyahu said. "He has to choose: Does he want peace with Hamas or peace with Israel? You can have one but not the other. I hope he chooses peace; so far he hasn't done so." Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman echoed Netanyahu's sentiments and said signing an agreement with Hamas was equivalent to "signing the termination of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority." Furthermore Netanyahu said that the Authority continues to demand "additional conditions," knowing that Israel cannot accept them. On Tuesday, President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated the conditions that Israel needs to fulfill for the continuation of peace talks. He called for the establishment of borders between Israel and Palestine, the release of a fourth group of Palestinian prisoners and a halt to the construction of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Palestinian Authority has been pushing for these conditions since the restart in negotiations with Israel following a three-year hiatus last July. Abbas also threatened to dissolve the Palestinian Authority, forcing Israel to take on the burden of governing the region, if bilateral talks fail. "If the negotiations stop, it's the Israeli government that will bear the responsibility for the economic situation and the paying of the salaries of (Palestinian) employees, workers and farmers, for health and for education just as it did before the establishment of the Authority," he told reporters Tuesday. The Palestinian Authority revived talks with Hamas on Tuesday and agreed to form a government of national unity within the "next few weeks," Palestinian officials told AFP. Israel and the Palestinian Authority now face an April 29 deadline to resolve their differences and make headway with bilateral talks before Washington withdraws its support. http://ift.tt/1fpfAe9

According to Stephen Aftergood at Secrecy News , a new intelligence directive forbids any official from talking with the media and threatens "termination of employment" or "criminal prosecution" for any violators. The Director of National Intelligence has forbidden most intelligence community employees from discussing "intelligence-related information" with a reporter unless they have specific authorization to do so, according to an Intelligence Community Directive that was issued last month. "IC employees... must obtain authorization for contacts with the media" on intelligence-related matters, and "must also report... unplanned or unintentional contact with the media on covered matters," the Directive stated. The new Directive reflects - and escalates - tensions between the government and the press over leaks of classified information. It is intended "to mitigate risks of unauthorized disclosures of intelligence-related matters that may result from such contacts." ...If an employee's contact with the media involves an unauthorized disclosure of classified information, then he could be subject to criminal prosecution. But even if classified information were not communicated to the reporter, the Directive indicates, violation of the new policy "at a minimum... will be handled in the same manner as a security violation." "IC employees who are found to be in violation of this IC policy may be subject to administrative actions that may include revocation of security clearance or termination of employment," the Directive states. In the aftermath of Snowden's leaks, this is an assertive attempt to crack down on leakers and enforce absolutely secrecy. It reminds one of the Obama administration's government-wide crack down on talking to the media, dubbed the "Insider Threat Program." McClatchy : Even before a former U.S. intelligence contractor exposed the secret collection of Americans' phone records, the Obama administration was pressing a government-wide crackdown on security threats that requires federal employees to keep closer tabs on their co-workers and exhorts managers to punish those who fail to report their suspicions. President Barack Obama's unprecedented initiative, known as the Insider Threat Program, is sweeping in its reach. It has received scant public attention even though it extends beyond the U.S. national security bureaucracies to most federal departments and agencies nationwide, including the Peace Corps, the Social Security Administration and the Education and Agriculture departments. It emphasizes leaks of classified material, but catchall definitions of "insider threat" give agencies latitude to pursue and penalize a range of other conduct. A report by the Committee to Protect Journalists found that Obama's crack down has government sources "scared to death" and journalists facing a lack of information. "The administration's war on leaks and other efforts to control information are the most aggressive I've seen since the Nixon administration," said Leonard Downie Jr., author of the report and editor at The Washington Post at the time of the Watergate scandal. "The 30 experienced Washington journalists at a variety of news organizations whom I interviewed for this report could not remember any precedent," he told McClatchy. About two years remain in the Obama administration. It is reasonable to expect it will continue to hold the record for the most people prosecuted under Espionage Act, but many of the legal and procedural aspects of the Obama administration's extreme secrecy are likely to blend into the next administration. Unfortunately, it looks like the most aggressively secret administration since Nixon is devising a new normal. http://ift.tt/1mw3De6

This introductory scene from the 1997 film adaptation of Carl Sagan's Contact blew my mind when I first saw it in the theatre and I still enjoy watching videos of this nature. It really puts things in perspective and provides you with a visual sense of the epic scale of the cosmos in such a way that numbers and language simply fail to convey. The astral bodies depicted have several minute inaccuracies, but still give the viewer a great understanding of just how small the ol'pale blue dot really is.The objects, in the order they appear include: Earth Mars The Asteroid Belt (Much sparser than depicted, asteroids larger than 1 metre are typically 2km apart. Still, avoid this bad boy while cruisin the solar system!) Ganymede , followed by Jupiter and her many other moons. (The famous 'Red Eye' actually spins imperceptibly slow and in the opposite direction!) Saturn Uranus The Oort Cloud (The "halo" of leftover debris from the Solar Systems creation) Alpha Centauri (A binary or double star system and the third brightest star in the night sky.) The Pillars of Creation (Erroneously portrayed from an Earth based point of view and should instead be shown from the other side and flipped left to right! Still an impressive effect.) The Eagle Nebulae (Again, opposite side.) The Milky Way The Andromeda Galaxy (with whom we are slated on a collision course, due in roughly 4 billion years.) After that I have no idea!? Canis Major Dwarf Cluster Maybe?? Any thoughts? ...AND THEN BAM, we run directly into a child's eyeball! Thus ending our 92 billion light year journey as an insignificant eye floaty. Cheers and Happy Easter! (Also, take a look at the somewhat addictive: http://ift.tt/sfqXo0 ) Text - PaleSalope Video - Youtube

Under the guise of preventing stupid politicians, Kalifornia State Senator Marx Lefto has released a proposed bill to the Kalifornia Legislature that could result in mandatory remote disablement of stupid politicians. Marx Lefto represents San Francisco and the surrounding areas, but he apparently trying to resolve the 'epidemic' of stupid politicians. The proposed bill would require all politicians (does not address bureaucrats) in Kalifornia to come with, "stupidity-deterring technological solutions enabled to render the politician even more useless if stupid." The State Senator's own site goes as far as to say, "Every new politician running in the state on or after January 1, 2015 must have the stupidity-deterrent solution, also known as a kill switch, installed." Yeah, they went there. They are actually using the kill switch terminology without actually understanding the implications of doing so. By implementing a kill switch or forcing voters AND special interest groups to comply with this law, they will likely have to either elect separate politicians for Kalifornia or simply implement this technology in ALL their politicians considering Kalifornia's size. Even for the politicians that aren't actually within his district, they are within his state and it is within their best interest to make sure this bill dies a horrible and brutally painful death. They justify the creation of this bill. They claim that, "The stupid politicians and other bureaucrats now account for one third of all stupid laws in the nation, making them the number one stupidity in the U.S. The epidemic is even more prevalent in some of Kalifornia's largest cities. More than 50 percent of all stupid laws in San Francisco comes from some sort of a stupid politician, a number that goes up to 75 percent in the East Bay city of Oakland. Los Angeles also has a significant stupid politician problem, with reported stupid laws increasing 12 percent in 2012." Based on this alone, apparently we need kill switches, rather than alternative solutions that would be election-based, not politician based. By simply implementing a kill switch mechanism, the stupid politicians would simply go outside of the state, which isn't really a solution. The stupid politicians will find a way to take their stupid laws elsewhere if we implement any form of kill switch. There needs to be a dis-incentive to elect stupid politicians and vote for them in another way, rather than putting all politicians at risk of accidental or malicious kill switch engagements by hackers or the government. They even quoted a situation in Illinois with a few men who ended up killing a politician, as if having a kill switch would actually prevent such crimes in the future. Sure, there is clearly a problem with stupid politicians in America, but implementing a universal kill switch just means that the parties and government could easily engage this when they want to, wiping any or all politicians they wish to, stupid or not. This is a borderline totalitarian move that is easily covered under the guise of trying to prevent stupidity. If stupid politicians is our biggest problem, then I think we're progressing in terms of stupidity. They also claim that the political parties don't have an incentive to implement such a program because they elect more politicians as a result of stupidity and then get to elect more stupid politicians against stupidity and such. However, this bill completely ignores the fact that if the kill switch is built into the politician, the political party would be forced to elect a separate politician for Kalifornia or to elect such politicians for the entire US, even though only one state has such a law. This would technically put all of the other politicians at risk since they also have kill switches, even though there is no official law in their state to regulate them. In addition to the creation of a kill switch, major political parties and interest groups would be prohibited from campaigning politicians in the state unless they carry pre-enabled, "stupidity-deterring technology." While voters would have the opportunity to opt-out of using this technology, the bill also prohibits political parties from using term limits to encourage voters to disable the kill switch. Political parties that fail to comply with these provisions would be subject to penalty. So, this technology is opt-out rather than opt-in, which I believe one of the biggest problems, legally and privacy speaking, not technologically, which we've already addressed. The bill will levy a fine of $500-$2,500 on any political campaign with politicians that do not comply with the kill switch technology parameters. The best solution would be a system that is much like the one we have today that is more effective. One that automatically tags a certain politicians as stupid and once they join any political party, it immediately reports their affiliation and notifies the voters that they are stupid. This is far less intrusive and utilizes already existent technologies and is only done when necessary rather than as a pre-emptive installed technology that could theoretically create more vulnerabilities in people's politicians. Clearly this law was written without any consideration to the impact to the political parties involved nor the implications of building in a kill-switch into any politician. However, Kalifornia State Senator Marx Lefto continued to argue that remote kill switches for stupid politicians are "absolutely vital for preventing more stupidity, such as some extremist politician getting elected that might try to repeal the mandatory kill switches for cars in case they get carjacked, or try to pass laws to allow people to opt out of having special police-remote-controlled-guns installed in their homes, to allow police to remotely monitor them and to remotely kill anybody in their home who might be a home invader before they rape or murder somebody". "Without these mandatory stupid politician kill switches," continued Marx Lefto, "one day some stupid politician might get elected who might even try to make it harder for the government to screw everybody or anybody it wants to in the ass." "Why in the heck would anybody NOT want to get screwed in the ass???" loudly questioned the perplexed Marx Lefto.

Kalifornia State Senator Proposes Stupid Politician Remote Kill Switch Bill

By: jironde on: 5:55 PM
When Helen Felumlee passed away at the age of 92 Saturday morning, her family knew her husband Kenneth Felumlee, 91, wouldn't be slow to follow her. The couple couldn't bear to be apart very long, and Kenneth passed away only 15 1/2 hours after his wife of 70 years. "We knew when one went, the other was going to go," said daughter Linda Cody. "We wanted them to go together, and they did." After Kenneth had his leg amputated 2 1/2 years ago because of circulation problems, Helen became his main caretaker, making sure he got everything he needed. She continued this up until three weeks before their deaths, when she became too frail to care for him. "She was so weak, she could hardly do it," Cody said. "But she was still pushing his chair; she was still filling his water cup." When Kenneth's health started to fail, Helen began sleeping on the couch to be near him. The two hadn't slept apart in 70 years, the family said. Years ago, when the two took an overnight ferry equipped with bunk-beds, they chose to both sleep on the bottom bunk rather than be separated for even a night. Soon after Kenneth, Helen's health also started to go downhill, and she was confined to a hospital bed near the end of her life. Kenneth took this particularly hard. "He would just reach out and grab her hand, but he would keep his head down because he couldn't stand to see her hurting," Cody said. Upon his wife's death, Kenneth was ready to join her, family said. "She was staying strong for Dad and he was staying strong for her," Cody said. "That's what kept them going." Helen and Kenneth's love story began when they were just 18 and 19 after Kenneth's ex-girlfriend, a friend to Helen, introduced the two. They immediately hit it off, dating for three years before deciding to elope. Lying to their parents, the two said they were taking a day trip to Kentucky to visit Kenneth's old basketball coach. Heading to the courthouse with only $5 in their pockets, Kenneth and Helen arrived with barely enough to pay the $2 fee. The couple were wed Feb. 20, 1944, two days before Kenneth was legally old enough to get married. "He couldn't wait," son Jim Felumlee said. When the couple returned, they were too nervous to tell their parents right away, so they lived separately several weeks until Kenneth developed the courage to break the news of their elopement. continue reading: http://ift.tt/1lrYrUC

Couple Who Never Spent a Night Apart Die Together

http://ift.tt/1i2xNUr this shouldn't be happening on British soil, no matter how welcoming we are, down with home grown terrorism A teachers' union has raised serious concerns about the conduct of Ofsted inspectors investigating an alleged Islamist plot to take over schools in Birmingham. Teachers in the schools being inspected over the "Trojan Horse" plot claims were allegedly told their school would be downgraded because they were "not teaching anti-terrorism", while inspectors also asked pupils and teaching staff "leading questions" on their attitude towards homosexuality, according to Roger King, the NUT's executive member for the city. The claims follow the announcement that Sir Michael Wilshaw, Ofsted's chief inspector, will be personally overseeing the watchdog's investigation into 16 schools in the city. The latest criticism comes after TES reported last month on concerns about the conduct of inspectors at Park View School (pictured) during an inspection. The NUT is expected to debate an emergency motion expressing concern about the handling of the Trojan Horse allegations at its annual conference in Brighton tomorrow. In a press conference this afternoon, Mr King said NUT members working in the schools had reported that inspectors had behaved inappropriately during the recent wave of inspections. "The Ofsted team were going to the staff of and saying: 'We're going to fail you.' And some of the staff were saying: 'Why are you failing us?' And were saying: 'You're not teaching anti-terrorism and therefore there's a safeguarding issue in this school," he said. "I think that's an inappropriate thing to do. That's not what Ofsted are in there for. There are a number of things like that, like asking the staff: 'Are you homophobic?', asking the girl pupils who didn't happen to be sitting next to boys: 'Are you made to sit in different places?'" "You do question how objective Ofsted were when they went into those schools," Mr King added. NUT general secretary Christine Blower said the union would be raising members' concerns with Ofsted. In response to the allegations, an Ofsted spokesman said: "Inspectors are required to uphold the highest professional standards in their work and to ensure that everyone they encounter during inspections is treated fairly and with respect. "These standards are assured through a code of conduct. Any concerns that a school has about the inspection should be raised during the inspection. If concerns have not been resolved, individuals or schools can raise a formal complaint with Ofsted in line with our published complaints policy." A report in today's Sunday Telegraph claimed at least six of the schools being inspected would be put in special measures . However Mr King said reports that Springfield Primary, where he is chair of governors, had been inspected were "rubbish"; its most recent inspection, he said, was two years ago. Birmingham city council is carrying out its own investigation into 25 schools in the city, while education secretary Michael Gove has appointed former counter-terrorism police chief Peter Clarke to carry out a separate review, a decision described as "desperately unfortunate" by West Midlands police chief constable Chris Sims.

Saw this and thought I should share. NPR interview on the avalanche "WADE GOODWYN, HOST: This is WEEKEND EDITION from NPR News. I'm Wade Goodwyn. Nepalese officials say that an avalanche killed at least 12 mountain Sherpas on Mount Everest. The avalanche struck yesterday at about 6:45 in the morning local time at 20,000 feet, just above the Everest base camp. The Sherpas were preparing the climbing route ahead of the busy summer climbing season when the accident happened. Conrad Anker is a seasoned climber and was part of the team that discovered the body of George Mallory in 1999, a British climber who died on his ascent of Everest in 1924. Conrad Anker joins us from Bozeman, MT. Conrad, thanks for being with us. CONRAD ANKER: Thank you for the invitation. GOODWYN: The news from Everest can sometimes be terrible. You've climbed the mountain. Can you explain to us what happened? ANKER: The climbers were on the south side, which is the route that originates in Nepal and goes up the Khumbu Glacier to the South Pole then on to the summit. They key point on this is climbing up through the Khumbu Icefall, and this is a stretch of glaciers that tumbles over a drop. And it's sort of like a river rapids, if you can imagine, but ice. And so there's blocks, and there's a lot of objective hazards. And it's the most dangerous part on the route as you go towards the summit. And in this case, we had Sherpas that were carrying loads through the icefall. And one of the hanging glaciers to the east of the climbing route, hanging off the west shoulder of Everest released, and then that avalanche of ice blocks is what took the lives of the Sherpas. GOODWYN: All of the victims were Sherpas, a distinct ethnic group. We've been conditioned to think about Sherpas as the group who are perhaps the least likely to die on the mountain. What happened here? Why only Sherpas being killed? ANKER: In this instance, they were carrying loads to get up to support the Western climbers that will then make their summit. So the Sherpas will probably travel through the icefall four times, as often as a Western client will. So a Western client might make one to three trips through the icefall for their summit bid. But for the Sherpas, they're going to be carrying maybe four times as many. So they're carrying up the gear and the equipment for their customers. That's kind of their job. And on any given day, there's going to be quite a large amount of Sherpas that are going to be at risk because they're climbing the icefall. GOODWYN: Entire communities of Sherpas depend on the mountaineering industry for their livelihoods. Is the money pressuring them to take too many risks? ANKER: A good question. There - I mean, obviously, I climb mountains because it's my avocation. I love it. It's what I want to do with my time off. And I'm willing to take the risk and everything like that. For the Sherpa, it's a vocation. They are being paid to carry loads up the mountain and to guide Western groups up there - and the same thing as a guide would work in the mountains here. So there are some - and it's a market economy when Nepal is a very poor, landlocked nation in a geopolitical vise between China to the north and India to the south. So mountaineering is really the engine that drives their economy, particularly the tourism economy. So when these Sherpas have the opportunity to earn income that they do, it is - I can't fault them for wanting to go do it because it's good wages, relative to the average in Nepal. And it's fun. It's exciting work, but as we all know, it's very dangerous. GOODWYN: Conrad Anker is the leader of the North Face climbing team. Conrad, thanks for being with us."

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Saturday, April 19, 2014, 4:10 AM Returning home from service in a war is never easy, and it is all the harder when veterans are maligned as dangerous time bombs. U.S. vets are a sweepingly broad group. It is surely fair to say that on the whole they have displayed a greater proclivity to national service than many of their fellow Americans. But beyond that, generalizations become dicey fast. Some suffer from post-traumatic stress. Too many from the Iraq and Afghanistan era have committed suicide. And millions more have carried on with healthy lives, more than a few bearing the scars of battle as they do so. Each is an individual, and collectively they recoil from characterizations that draw a connecting line between a heinous act or a social ill and their status as a veteran. So it is now with the fury generated by a New York Times Op-Ed that was headlined, "Veterans and White Supremacy," and that was illustrated by a drawing of soldiers saluting in silhouette - except one instead raising an arm in a Nazi salute. The piece, by Kathleen Belew, a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University, drew a connection between the service that's taken 2.4 million Americans to war zones since 9/11 and Frazier Glenn Miller, the white supremacist maniac who murdered three people in Kansas last week. Yes, Miller was a veteran. He was booted from the Army in 1979 for distributing racist literature. Then he went on to three decades' worth of appalling white supremacist action that Belew ties to today's military. To establish that unlikely tie, she cites a since-withdrawn 2009 Department of Homeland Security report about the threat of domestic terror from the white-power movement. A pair of sentences in that document warned that returning veterans could join that phenomenon - which is true so far as it also applied to every young person who graduates from college. Still, Belew declared that "The threat, however, proved real" - without presenting a single example from the past 20 years, let alone hard numbers or evidence. Instead, she went on, "It would be irresponsible to overlook the high rates of combat trauma among the 2.4 million Americans who have served in our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the full impact of which has not yet materialized." Thus, she concluded, "When we interpret shootings like the one on Sunday as acts of mad, lone-wolf gunmen, we fail to see white power as an organized - and deadly - social movement." Finally, she closes by asking, somewhat bizarrely, "Would (Miller) have received greater scrutiny had he been a Muslim, a foreigner, not white, not a veteran?" She answers her own question: "The answer is clear, and alarming." To recap: Belew points to a killer who last served 35 years ago to warn that today's military service men and women are tomorrow's white supremacist terrorists. The concept was ugly, unfair and unfit to print. Read more: http://ift.tt/1jiRqEe

Sardinia plans secession referendum http://ift.tt/1la3SMc Gerald Celente - RT News - January 1, 2014 http://ift.tt/1la3Tjc What is wrong with EU? After WW2 Germans had debt about 29,7 billion Deutsche Marks ( 21 percent of GDP ). Greece , Ireland and other creditor countries decided to forgive these debts partially and erased half of them. Half of public as well as private debt. Situation of Germany after WW2 was eased via support to its exportation. In Finland leading politicians as well as those neoliberal economic professors in power (during early 90s especially) were incompetent to see what banks could do with so called "free markets". Banks started to act like magicians and created money "out of thin air." Result of this was gigantic digital money Ponzi-scheme that politicians here in Finland (or elsewhere) did not understand. There is approximately derivative bubble of 700 trillion dollars in balance sheets of banks (meaning that the economic crisis is more like insolvency crisis because the whole banking system is basically dead). No politician in Finland (or anywhere else) can downgrade this virtual Ponzi-scheme debt. When in Iceland derivatives were downgraded to real value during Iceland's systemic banking collapse 94 percent of value melted! (So one could say that those banks had owned mainly toilet paper) Neither governments nor taxpayers can save the sinking banking system Titanic. The banks along with other financial institutions have given money in other words debt to everyone including those completely credit unworthy. EU and IMF demand austerity , cuts and structural changes countries like Greece , Spain , Ireland and so on. So it is whole different policy than after WW2 in case of Germany. Now is about the time abandon this sinking Titanic called European Union . At the moment Finland backs the banks with 50 billion euros (This is huge considering that the budget of Finland is around 54 billion euros ). And in addition Bank of Finland has to pay about 70 billion euros to ECB (and who else it is but the taxpayer who pays) If or when economy goes from really bad to a lot of worse Finnish taxpayers will pay these banker bail-outs around 110 billion euros which is over two times Finnish national budget . Consequence of this will be the economic nakba. "Nakba" means catastrophe and for Palestinians it means The Ethnic Cleansing which way political Zionist movement took the land and formed state of Israel. In Finland and in rest of the Europe this is happening under the mantle of economic crisis. Faceless markets pull the strings. In their tax havens " The Bankster Mafia Oligarchy " laughs all the ridiculous beliefs that our politicians have. What happens when the real problem of economy will be revealed that the balance sheets of the banking system is worthless and full of toilet paper derivatives and bonds? This article is partially Based on Internet article (http://ift.tt/1hFTRPj) written by Finnish Author Ari Ojapelto who saw (in his book "Ahneuden Aika" = The Time Of Greed or The Age Of Greed) in advance the financial crisis that began 2007-2008. (In a way he could be described as Finnish Gerald Celente) PS: - The Global Trap: Civilization and the Assault on Democracy and Prosperity is a 1996 book by Hans-Peter Martin and Harold Schumann that describes possible implications of current trends in globalisation. It was published in English in 1997. The book was a best-seller in the author's native Germany. In particular, the book is known for defining a possible "20/80 society" . In this possible society of the 21st century, 20 percent of the working age population will be enough to keep the world economy going . The other 80 percent live on some form of welfare and are entertained with a concept called "tittytainment", which aims at keeping the 80 percent of frustrated citizens happy with a mixture of deadeningly predictable, lowest common denominator entertainment for the soul and nourishment for the body. Washington Is Humanity's Worst Enemy Paul Craig Roberts How does Washington get away with the claim that the country it rules is a democracy and has freedom? This absurd claim ranks as one of the most unsubstantiated claims in history. There is no democracy whatsoever. Voting is a mask for rule by a few powerful interest groups. In two 21st century rulings (Citizens United and McCutcheon), the US Supreme Court has ruled that the purchase of the US government by private interest groups is merely the exercise of free speech. These rulings allow powerful corporate and financial interests to use their money-power to elect a government that serves their interests at the expense of the general welfare. The control private interests exercise over the government is so complete that private interests have immunity to prosecution for crimes. At his retirement party on March 27, Securities and Exchange Commission prosecutor James Kidney stated that his prosecutions of Goldman Sachs and other "banks too big to fail" were blocked by superiors who "were focused on getting high-paying jobs after their government service." The SEC's top brass, Kidney said, did not "believe in afflicting the comfortable and powerful." In his report on Kidney's retirement speech, Eric Zuesse points out that the Obama regime released false statistics in order to claim prosecutions that did not take place in order to convince a gullible public that Wall Street crooks were being punished. http://ift.tt/1iA6LA4 Democracy and freedom require an independent and aggressive media, an independent and aggressive judiciary, and an independent and aggressive Congress. The United States has none of the above. The US media consistently lies for the government. Reuters continues to report, falsely, that Russia invaded and annexed Crimea. The Washington Post ran an obviously false story planted on the paper by the Obama regime that the massive protests in former Russian territories of Ukraine are "rent-a-mobs" instigated by the Russian government. Not even Washington's stooges in Kiev believe that. Officials of the Washington-imposed government in Kiev acknowledged the need for some autonomy for the Russian-speaking regions and for a law permitting referendums, but this realistic response to widespread concerns among Ukrainians has apparently been squelched by Washington and its presstitute media. US Secretary of State John Kerry continues to turn a deaf ear to the Russian Foreign Minister and continues to demand that "Russia must remove its people from the South-East." What is happening is very dangerous. Washington misjudged its ability to grab the Ukraine. Opposition to the US grab is almost total in the Russian-speaking areas. Local police and security forces have gone over to the protesters. The corrupt Obama regime and the presstitute media lie through their teeth that the protests are insincere and mere orchestrations by "Putin who wants to restore the Soviet empire." The Russian government keeps trying to end the conflict and unrest that Washington's reckless coup in Kiev has caused short of having to reabsorb the former Russian territories as it was forced to do in Crimea. But Washington continues ignoring the Russian government and blaming the unrest on Russia's not Washington's, interference. http://ift.tt/1ew8Q3g See also: http://ift.tt/1ew9bx4 The Russian government knows that Washington does not believe what Washington is saying and that Washington is systematically provoking a continuation and worsening of the problem. The Russian government wonders what agenda Washington is pursuing. Is Washington in its arrogant stupidity and superpower hubris unable to acknowledge that its takeover of the Ukraine has come amiss and to back off? Does Washington not realize that the Russian government is no more able to accept the application of violence against Russian populations in Ukraine than it could accept violence against Russians in South Ossetia? If Washington doesn't come to its senses, the Russian government will have to send in troops as it had to do in Georgia. nal-288/ " target="_blank">http://ift.tt/1kN4PK6 As this is clear even to a fool, is it Washington's goal to start a war? Is that why Washington is massing NATO forces on Russia's borders and sending missile ships into the Black Sea? Washington is putting the entire world at risk. If Russia concludes that Washington intends to drive the Ukraine crisis to war rather than to resolve the crisis, will Russia sit and wait, or will Russia strike first? One would think that the Chancellor of Germany, the British Prime Minister, and the President of France would see the danger in the situation. Perhaps they do. However, there is a large difference between the aid that Russia gives countries and the aid given by Washington. Russia provides financial support to governments; Washington gives bagfuls of money to individuals in the government with the knowledge that individuals are more likely to act in their own interest than in the interest of their country. Therefore, European politicians are silent as Washington pushes a crisis toward war. If we don't get to war, the only reason will be that Putin comes up with a solution that Washington cannot refuse, as Putin did in Syria and Iran. It is a paradox that Putin is portrayed as the heavy while Washington pretends to be the champion of "freedom and democracy." In the 21st century Washington has established as its hallmarks every manifestation of tyranny: illegal and unconstitutional execution of citizens without due process of law, illegal and unconstitutional indefinite detention of citizens without due process of law, illegal and unconstitutional torture, illegal and unconstitutional rendition, illegal and unconstitutional surveillance, and illegal and unconstitutional wars. The executive branch has established that it is unaccountable to law or to the Constitution. An unaccountable government is a tyranny. Tired of being spied upon and lied to, the Senate Intelligence Committee has produced a thorough investigation of the CIA's torture programs. The investigation took four years to complete. The Committee found, unequivocally, that the CIA lied about the extent of the torture and kidnappings, that detainees did not undergo some mild form of "enhanced interrogation" but were subjected to brutal and inhumane torture, that the CIA, contrary to its claims, did not get even one piece of useful information from its grave crimes against humanity. The American presstitutes assisted the CIA in inaccurately portraying the effectiveness and mildness of the CIA's Gestapo practices. During the entirety of the investigation, the CIA illegally spied on the Senate staff conducting the investigation. Is the public ever to see this report beyond the parts that have been leaked? Not if the CIA and Obama can prevent it. President "change" Obama has decided that it is up to the CIA to decide how much of the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation will be made public. In other words, unless someone leaks the entire report, the American public will never know. Yet, "we have freedom and democracy." The Senate Intelligence Committee itself has the power to vole to declassify the entire report and to release it. The committee should do so immediately before the members of the committee are browbeat, threatened, and propagandized into believing that they are endangering "national security" and providing those mistreated with grounds for a lawsuit. The US government is the most corrupt government on earth. There is no independent judiciary or media, and Congress has acquiesced to executive branch encroachments on its powers. Consider the judiciary. Michael Ratner of the Center for Constitutional Rights represented the father of the American citizen, who Obama said would be murdered by the US government on suspicion that he was associated with terrorism. When Ratner asked the federal courts to block an illegal and unconstitutional execution of an American citizen without due process, the federal judge who heard the case ruled that the father of a son about to be murdered did not have standing to bring a case in behalf of his son. After several lives were snuffed out by President "I'm good at killing people" Obama, Ratner represented relatives of Obama's murdered victims in a damage suit. Under US law it was clear as day that damages were due. But the federal judge ruled that "the government must be trusted." http://ift.tt/1p2AGIK Whether or not anyone has standing is entirely up to the government. The IRS takes a completely different position on the matter. Children have standing to have their tax refunds confiscated by the IRS if the IRS thinks the IRS may have overpaid the parents' Social Security benefits. http://ift.tt/1kdgIX1 So in "freedom and democracy" Amerika, children are responsible if the IRS "thinks"-no proof required-that it wrote parents too large of a Social Security check, but a father has no legal standing to bring a lawsuit to prevent the US government from the extra-legal murder of his son. Thanks to the Republican Federalist Society and to the Republican judges the Federalist Society has managed to have appointed to the federal bench, the federal judiciary functions as a protector of executive branch tyranny. Whatever the executive branch asserts and does is permissible, especially if the executive branch invokes "national security." In America today, the executive branch claims that "national security" is impaired unless the executive branch can operate illegally and unconstitutionally and unless citizens are willing to give up every constitutional right in order to be made safe in a total police state that spies on and documents every aspect of their lives. Even the Government Accountability Office has been neutered. In 2013 the Government Accountability Office told the TSA to eliminate its behavior screening program as it is a waste of money and does not work. So what did the TSA do. Why, of course, it expanded the useless intrusion into the privacy of travelers. This is Amerika today. Yet Washington prances around chanting "freedom and democracy" even as it displaces the greatest tyrannies in human history with its own. Only gullible Americans expect leaders and elites or voting to do anything about the institutionalization of tyranny. Elites are only interested in money. As long as the system produces more income and wealth for elites, elites don't give a hoot about tyranny or what happens to the rest of us. SOURCE: http://ift.tt/1hD5s6N
