This video shows a 20-year-old girl who screamed so hard doing the Ice Bucket Challenge - that she DISLOCATED her jaw. Isabelle Roberts, 20, was taken to A&E to have her jaw put back into place when the internet craze for throwing cold water on people went wrong on Tuesday evening (26/8). Isabelle, from Tipton, West Mids., said: "The water was so cold so I screamed but as I did it my jaw just started to stick. "I tried to close my mouth but it would not close, it was locked, and then I came to the realisation that something was up. "Then my mum and sister came to the realisation and they started wetting themselves, but I had to be rushed to A&E."

Hello Everyone, Justa Dude here's a little about the video stuff I like. I'm seeking friends here on Live Leak with similar interest. I like to keep up with wars in the Middle East and Russia and war crimes. I also like to watch videos on beheading and torture to build up my immunity to violence. I think crack head videos are sad but funny to watch. I love to watch real fight videos where someone gets a good ass whooping. I am highly amused by stupid people and Fail videos, but it seems as though I've seen them all. Bad cops and elected officials that get caught are pretty good videos. Rubber necking car wrecks and things of that magnitude are spell binding to me. I can't stand watching animals that get hurt or killed but I'll watch to build my tolerance level. Success stories of quick fortunes interesting but I wish money was not needed for living. I think some of the system conspiracy theories could be legit but I think all the UFO stuff is not real.

Justa Dude a little about me 8-30-14

By: jironde on: 6:49 AM
Some thirteen years after the event, the shadow of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in Manhattan and the Pentagon still darkens our world. The legacy of that terrible day has impacted not only our foreign policy, bequeathing to a new generation an apparently endless "war on terrorism," it also has led directly to what is arguably the most massive assault on our civil liberties since the Alien and Sedition Acts. Getting all the information about what happened that day - and why it happened - is key to understanding the course we have taken since. This was supposed to have been the purpose of the 9/11 Commission, whose massive report is now looked to as the primary source on the subject. Yet there is another, far more specific investigative report, the one issued by the intelligence committees of both houses of Congress, entitled " Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001 ." If you actually take the time to read the report, all goes along swimmingly (except for occasional redactions) until you get to p. 369, whereupon the text is blacked out for the next twenty-eight pages . What is in the twenty-eight censored pages? You aren't allowed to know that, but members of Congress can read them provided they write to the heads of the Senate and House intelligence committees and get permission. If such is granted, they are escorted into a soundproof carefully guarded room in the company of various spooks, where they get to read the material: they aren't allowed to take notes. Do you get the impression someone has something to hide? The censored section is entitled "Finding, Discussion and Narrative Regarding Certain Sensitive National Security Matters," and the introduction - left largely intact - is instructive: "Through its investigation, the Joint Inquiry developed information suggesting specific sources of foreign support for some of the September 11 hijackers while they were in the United States. The Joint Inquiry's review confirmed that the Intelligence Community also has information, much of which has yet to be independently verified, concerning these potential sources of support. In their testimony, neither CIA nor FBI officials were able to address definitively the extent of such support for the hijackers globally or within the United States or the extent to which such support, if it exists, is knowing or inadvertent in nature." The alleged Saudi connection to the 9/11 attacks has had a lot of play : it is widely believed that in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 special permission was given to fly members of the Saudi royal family out of the country when the whole nation was in lockdown. This raised suspicions, along with the incontrovertible fact that the majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi citizens. In a 2002 interview with Gwen Ifill on PBS, Senator Bob Graham of Florida, then on the Senate Intelligence Committee, went public with the news that foreign governments were in on the 9/11 attacks: "GWEN IFILL: "Senator Graham, are there elements in this report, which are classified that Americans should know about but can't?" SEN. BOB GRAHAM: "Yes, going back to your question about what was the greatest surprise. I agree with what Senator Shelby said the degree to which agencies were not communicating was certainly a surprise but also I was surprised at the evidence that there were foreign governments involved in facilitating the activities of at least some of the terrorists in the United States." In the years since his retirement, Sen. Graham has been steadily pounding away at this point, and his persistence has usually been interpreted as a demand to reveal the extent of Saudi complicity in the attacks. And while the Saudis may well have been involved, either directly or otherwise, I would bring your attention to Graham's statement and the introduction to the Joint Inquiry report, which indicate that more than one foreign government was involved. But if it wasn't just the Saudis, then who else was involved? We don't have to rely on pure speculation, in spite of the fact that us ordinary peons in flyover country aren't allowed to read those 28 pages. That's because a few members of Congress have taken the trouble to apply for permission to read them, including Representatives Walter Jones (R-North Carolina), Tom Massie (R-Kentucky), and Stephen Lynch (D-Massachusetts). According to their own accounts, they came out of that soundproof spy-proof room reeling. Here's what Jones says : "I was absolutely shocked by what I read. What was so surprising was that those whom we thought we could trust really disappointed me...It does not deal with national security per se; it is more about relationships. The information is critical to our foreign policy moving forward and should thus be available to the American people. If the 9/11 hijackers had outside help - particularly from one or more foreign governments - the press and the public have a right to know what our government has or has not done to bring justice to the perpetrators." "One or more foreign governments," eh? Who in the Middle East - or anywhere else, for that matter - are among "those whom we thought we could trust"? That doesn't sound like the Saudis to me. Would anyone really be surprised or "disappointed" to learn that they were playing games behind our back? Rep. Massie's statement is even more revealing: "I had to stop every two or three pages and rearrange my perception of history. And it's that fundamental - those 28 pages....It certainly changes your view of the Middle East." Would the discovery of Saudi perfidy "change your view of the Middle East" in a "fundamental" way? The Kingdom has been exporting its fanatic brand of Wahabism - fundamentalist Sunni ideology - spreading terrorism and political instability across the region for many years . So this is nothing new: and for those of us old enough to remember the Arab oil embargo of the 1970s , their two-timing nature is taken for granted. Graham has been explicit in accusing the Saudis of financing at least some of the 9/11 hijackers, as well as facilitating their entry into the United States. However, the Joint Inquiry indicates that more than this was involved: the phrase "foreign support for some of the September 11 hijackers while they were in the United States " jumps out at me, at least implying that it wasn't just financing - after all, how much did the 9/11 attacks actually cost Al Qaeda in terms of dollars and cents? - but also that operational assistance was given on the ground. Given - by whom? In the wake of 9/11, while the smoke from the downed World Trade Building was still clouding the skies over Manhattan, I noticed a news item in the Washington Post that rang all kinds of alarm bells, or at least it should have - although our vaunted Fourth Estate was too busy signing on to the newly-minted "war on terrorism" to notice. The story was headlined " Government Calls Several Cases 'of Special Interest,' Meaning Related to Post-Attacks Investigation ." Reporter John Mintz related that at least 60 Israelis "of special interest to the government" had been rounded up and that several of these had training in counter-terrorist techniques. As I noted at the time: "Well, spying is indeed a time-honored tradition, and something tells me these guys are no ordinary tourists, but since the US Government is keeping mum about everything connected with this investigation, we just don't know. In rounding up untold hundreds of mostly Arab Muslim men, and interviewing thousands more, the Ashcroft Sweep is clearly designed to gather information that might lead them to the remaining conspirators. It could be that the Israelis, or at least some of them, fall into this category: while not being directly involved, maybe they know something. Nothing else could account for the government's 'special interest.'" Not long after that, in the hard winter of 2001, Fox News ran a four-part series - part 1 , part 2 , part 3 , and part 4 - reported by Carl Cameron that let the cat out of the bag. Part one started out with a bang: "Since September 11, more than 60 Israelis have been arrested or detained, either under the new patriot anti-terrorism law, or for immigration violations. A handful of active Israeli military were among those detained, according to investigators, who say some of the detainees also failed polygraph questions when asked about alleged surveillance activities against and in the United States. "There is no indication that the Israelis were involved in the 9-11 attacks, but investigators suspect that the Israelis may have gathered intelligence about the attacks in advance, and not shared it. A highly placed investigator said there are 'tie-ins.' But when asked for details, he flatly refused to describe them, saying, 'evidence linking these Israelis to 9-11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information.'" The Fox series detailed an extensive and highly sophisticated Israeli spy network inside the US - including not only hundreds of agents on the ground masquerading as "art students," but also hi-tech spying tapping into our phone system and US eavesdropping capabilities - with the first part ending in this dialogue between Cameron and Fox News anchor Brit Hume: "HUME: Carl, what about this question of advanced knowledge of what was going to happen on 9-11? How clear are investigators that some Israeli agents may have known something? CAMERON: It's very explosive information, obviously, and there's a great deal of evidence that they say they have collected - none of it necessarily conclusive. It's more when they put it all together. A bigger question, they say, is how could they not have known? Almost a direct quote." Days after the broadcast of part four, the whole series disappeared from the Fox News site. The powerful pro-Israel lobby went after reporter Cameron , accusing him of anti-Semitism on account of his upbringing: he had grown up, in part, in the Middle East, where his father was an archeologist working in Iran. Pressure was applied to media organizations not to do any follow up reporting on this story of Israeli complicity. Yet some major media organizations did pursue the story: Le Monde did a piece that added some new information: "Six of the intercepted "students" had a cellular telephone bought by an Israeli ex-vice-consul in the United States. Two others, at an unspecified time, arrived in Miami by direct flight from Hamburg, and went to the residence of an FBI agent, to try to sell him artwork, left again for the Chicago airport to go to the residence of an agent of the justice department, then again took a plane directly for Toronto - all in one day. "More than a third of these 'students,' who, according to the report, moved in at least 42 American cities, stated they resided in Florida. Five at least were intercepted in Hollywood, and two in Fort Lauderdale. Hollywood is a town of 25,000 inhabitants to the north of Miami, close to Fort Lauderdale. At least 10 of the 19 terrorists of 9/11 were residing in Florida." Noting that Hollywood, Florida, was the stomping grounds of "four of the five members of the group that diverted American Airlines flight number 11," including ringleader Mohammed Atta, and going on to link others to the same area, Le Monde concluded: "This convergence is, inter alia, the origin of the American conviction that one of the tasks of the Israeli 'students' would have been to track the Al-Qaida terrorists on their territory, without informing the federal authorities of the existence of the plot." Salon.com did an excellent follow up by ace reporter Christopher Ketcham , and some others followed suit, but only here at Antiwar.com did we continue to consistently report on this important story - arguably, along with the Snowden revelations, one of the biggest stories in the history of modern journalism. When I first started writing about the question of Israeli complicity in the 9/11 attacks, I was told that I would henceforth be consigned to the margins: I was a "truther," a crackpot, and, naturally, an "anti-Semite." But why, I asked, would Fox News - surely one of the most pro-Israel news organizations on the planet - have run a four-part series pointing the finger directly at Israel if it didn't comport with the facts? Why is this a "conspiracy theory" if the CIA's own National Counterintelligence Center was concerned enough about those "art students" to post a warning about them on its official web site? The NCC noted, in March, 2001: "In the past six weeks, employees in federal office buildings located throughout the United States have reported suspicious activities connected with individuals representing themselves as foreign students selling or delivering artwork. Employees have observed both males and females attempting to bypass facility security and enter federal buildings." Ketcham, writing in Salon, theorized that the "art students" were a ploy to divert attention away from the hijackers, and, perhaps, to simultaneously shield Atta and his crew from US counterintelligence. It would serve the Israelis well to concentrate exclusively on the alleged Saudi connection to 9/11, and this has been the case so far. Yet the public statements of those who have actually seen the censored 28 pages in the Joint Inquiry report do not comport with this narrow focus. What else other than evidence of Israeli complicity in the 9/11 terrorist attacks would cause these members of Congress to "rearrange" their "perception of history"? Can you think of a better description of the Israelis than "those whom we thought we could trust," as Rep. Jones put it? I would also note that both Massie and Jones took the unusual step of voting "no" on funding the Israeli "Iron Dome" antimissile system, along with a tiny minority in both parties. Why do you suppose that is? So the question boils down to - Why? Why would the Israelis, who were tracking the terrorists on our territory, not only fail to let us know but perhaps act to shield them from law enforcement's gaze? The answer, I believe, is indicated by the role played by Israel since the attacks in agitating for US military action in the Middle East. In 2003, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, anticipating the Iraq war, declared that Syria, Iran, and Libya had to be "disarmed" as well. And Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking to a conference at Bar Ilan University in 2008, was more direct. As reported by Israeli news outlets Ha'aretz and Ma'ariv : "'We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq,' Ma'ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events 'swung American public opinion in our favor.'" What's in the 28 censored pages of the Joint Inquiry into 9/11? We don't know for sure - but if Israel is involved, then we do know why they won't let us read those pages. Representatives Jones, Lynch, and Massie have sparked a movement to declassify the 28 pages: go here for more information . This is a fight we need to win - but we can only do it by raising a huge stink. Call or write your congressional representatives and urge them to join the three congressmen who are fighting for your right to know. And spread the word. http://ift.tt/1B5stWM

What would happen if the Federal Reserve was shut down permanently? That is a question that CNBC asked recently , but unfortunately most Americans don't really think about the Fed much. Most Americans are content with believing that the Federal Reserve is just another stuffy government agency that sets our interest rates and that is watching out for the best interests of the American people. But that is not the case at all. The truth is that the Federal Reserve is a private banking cartel that has been designed to systematically destroy the value of our currency, drain the wealth of the American public and enslave the federal government to perpetually expanding debt. During this election year, the economy is the number one issue that voters are concerned about. But instead of endlessly blaming both political parties, the truth is that most of the blame should be placed at the feet of the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve has more power over the performance of the U.S. economy than anyone else does. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply, the Federal Reserve sets the interest rates and the Federal Reserve hands out bailouts to the big banks that absolutely dwarf anything that Congress ever did. If the American people are ever going to learn what is really going on with our economy, then it is absolutely imperative that they get educated about the Federal Reserve. The following are 10 things that every American should know about the Federal Reserve.... #1 The Federal Reserve System Is A Privately Owned Banking Cartel The Federal Reserve is not a government agency. The truth is that it is a privately owned central bank. It is owned by the banks that are members of the Federal Reserve system. We do not know how much of the system each bank owns, because that has never been disclosed to the American people. The Federal Reserve openly admits that it is privately owned. When it was defending itself against a Bloomberg request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, the Federal Reserve stated unequivocally in court that it was "not an agency" of the federal government and therefore not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. In fact, if you want to find out that the Federal Reserve system is owned by the member banks, all you have to do is go to the Federal Reserve website .... The twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks, which were established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation's central banking system, are organized much like private corporations--possibly leading to some confusion about "ownership." For example, the Reserve Banks issue shares of stock to member banks. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is quite different from owning stock in a private company. The Reserve Banks are not operated for profit, and ownership of a certain amount of stock is, by law, a condition of membership in the System. The stock may not be sold, traded, or pledged as security for a loan; dividends are, by law, 6 percent per year. Foreign governments and foreign banks do own significant ownership interests in the member banks that own the Federal Reserve system. So it would be accurate to say that the Federal Reserve is partially foreign-owned. But until the exact ownership shares of the Federal Reserve are revealed, we will never know to what extent the Fed is foreign-owned. #2 The Federal Reserve System Is A Perpetual Debt Machine As long as the Federal Reserve System exists, U.S. government debt will continue to go up and up and up. This runs contrary to the conventional wisdom that Democrats and Republicans would have us believe, but unfortunately it is true. The way our system works, whenever more money is created more debt is created as well. For example, whenever the U.S. government wants to spend more money than it takes in (which happens constantly), it has to go ask the Federal Reserve for it. The federal government gives U.S. Treasury bonds to the Federal Reserve, and the Federal Reserve gives the U.S. government "Federal Reserve Notes" in return. Usually this is just done electronically. So where does the Federal Reserve get the Federal Reserve Notes? It just creates them out of thin air. Wouldn't you like to be able to create money out of thin air? Instead of issuing money directly, the U.S. government lets the Federal Reserve create it out of thin air and then the U.S. government borrows it. Talk about stupid. When this new debt is created, the amount of interest that the U.S. government will eventually pay on that debt is not also created. So where will that money come from? Well, eventually the U.S. government will have to go back to the Federal Reserve to get even more money to finance the ever expanding debt that it has gotten itself trapped into. It is a debt spiral that is designed to go on perpetually. You see, the reality is that the money supply is designed to constantly expand under the Federal Reserve system. That is why we have all become accustomed to thinking of inflation as "normal". So what does the Federal Reserve do with the U.S. Treasury bonds that it gets from the U.S. government? Well, it sells them off to others. There are lots of people out there that have made a ton of money by holding U.S. government debt. In fiscal 2011, the U.S. government paid out 454 billion dollars just in interest on the national debt. That is 454 billion dollars that was taken out of our pockets and put into the pockets of wealthy individuals and foreign governments around the globe. The truth is that our current debt-based monetary system was designed by greedy bankers that wanted to make enormous profits by using the Federal Reserve as a tool to create money out of thin air and lend it to the U.S. government at interest. And that plan is working quite well. Most Americans today don't understand how any of this works, but many prominent Americans in the past did understand it. For example, Thomas Edison was once quoted in the New York Times as saying the following.... That is to say, under the old way any time we wish to add to the national wealth we are compelled to add to the national debt. Now, that is what Henry Ford wants to prevent. He thinks it is stupid, and so do I, that for the loan of $30,000,000 of their own money the people of the United States should be compelled to pay $66,000,000 - that is what it amounts to, with interest. People who will not turn a shovelful of dirt nor contribute a pound of material will collect more money from the United States than will the people who supply the material and do the work. That is the terrible thing about interest. In all our great bond issues the interest is always greater than the principal. All of the great public works cost more than twice the actual cost, on that account. Under the present system of doing business we simply add 120 to 150 per cent, to the stated cost. But here is the point: If our nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good. We should have listened to men like Edison and Ford. But we didn't. And so we pay the price. On July 1, 1914 (a few months after the Fed was created) the U.S. national debt was 2.9 billion dollars. Today, it is more than more than 5000 times larger. Yes, the perpetual debt machine is working quite well, and most Americans do not even realize what is happening. #3 The Federal Reserve Has Destroyed More Than 96% Of The Value Of The U.S. Dollar Did you know that the U.S. dollar has lost 96.2 percent of its value since 1900? Of course almost all of that decline has happened since the Federal Reserve was created in 1913. Because the money supply is designed to expand constantly, it is guaranteed that all of our dollars will constantly lose value. Inflation is a "hidden tax" that continually robs us all of our wealth. The Federal Reserve always says that it is "committed" to controlling inflation, but that never seems to work out so well. And current Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says that it is actually a good thing to have a little bit of inflation. He plans to try to keep the inflation rate at about 2 percent in the coming years. So what is so bad about 2 percent? That doesn't sound so bad, does it? Well, just consider the following excerpt from a recent Forbes article .... The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) has made it official: After its latest two day meeting, it announced its goal to devalue the dollar by 33% over the next 20 years. The debauch of the dollar will be even greater if the Fed exceeds its goal of a 2 percent per year increase in the price level. #4 The Federal Reserve Can Bail Out Whoever It Wants To With No Accountability The American people got so upset about the bailouts that Congress gave to the Wall Street banks and to the big automakers, but did you know that the biggest bailouts of all were given out by the Federal Reserve? Thanks to a very limited audit of the Federal Reserve that Congress approved a while back, we learned that the Fed made trillions of dollars in secret bailout loans to the big Wall Street banks during the last financial crisis. They even secretly loaned out hundreds of billions of dollars to foreign banks. According to the results of the limited Fed audit mentioned above, a total of $16.1 trillion in secret loans were made by the Federal Reserve between December 1, 2007 and July 21, 2010. The following is a list of loan recipients that was taken directly frompage 131 of the audit report.... Citigroup - $2.513 trillion Morgan Stanley - $2.041 trillion Merrill Lynch - $1.949 trillion Bank of America - $1.344 trillion Barclays PLC - $868 billion Bear Sterns - $853 billion Goldman Sachs - $814 billion Royal Bank of Scotland - $541 billion JP Morgan Chase - $391 billion Deutsche Bank - $354 billion UBS - $287 billion Credit Suisse - $262 billion Lehman Brothers - $183 billion Bank of Scotland - $181 billion BNP Paribas - $175 billion Wells Fargo - $159 billion Dexia - $159 billion Wachovia - $142 billion Dresdner Bank - $135 billion Societe Generale - $124 billion "All Other Borrowers" - $2.639 trillion So why haven't we heard more about this? This is scandalous. In addition, it turns out that the Fed paid enormous sums of money to the big Wall Street banks to help "administer" these nearly interest-free loans.... Not only did the Federal Reserve give 16.1 trillion dollars in nearly interest-free loans to the "too big to fail" banks, the Fed also paid them over 600 million dollars to help run the emergency lending program. According to the GAO, the Federal Reserve shelled out an astounding $659.4 million in "fees" to the very financial institutions which caused the financial crisis in the first place. Does reading that make you angry? It should. #5 The Federal Reserve Is Paying Banks Not To Lend Money Did you know that the Federal Reserve is actually paying banks not to make loans? It is true. Section 128 of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 allows the Federal Reserve to pay interest on "excess reserves" that U.S. banks park at the Fed. So the banks can just send their cash to the Fed and watch the money come rolling in risk-free. So are many banks taking advantage of this? You tell me. Just check out the chart below. The amount of "excess reserves" parked at the Fed has gone from nearly nothing to about 1.5 trillion dollars since 2008.... But shouldn't the banks be lending the money to us so that we can start businesses and buy homes? You would think that is how it is supposed to work. Unfortunately, the Federal Reserve is not working for us. The Federal Reserve is working for the big banks. Sadly, most Americans have no idea what is going on. Another example of this is the government debt carry trade. Here is how it works. The Federal Reserve lends gigantic piles of nearly interest-free cash to the big Wall Street banks, and in turn those banks use the money to buy up huge amounts of government debt. Since the return on government debt is higher, the banks are able to make large profits very easily and with very little risk. This scam was also explained in a recent article in the Guardian .... Consider this: we pretend that banks are private businesses that should be allowed to run their own affairs. But they are the biggest scroungers of public money of our time. Banks are lent vast sums of money by central banks at near-zero interest. They lend that money to us or back to the government at higher rates and rake in the difference by the billion. They don't even have to make clever investments to make huge profits. That is a pretty good little scam they have got going, wouldn't you say? #6 The Federal Reserve Creates Artificial Economic Bubbles That Are Extremely Damaging By allowing a centralized authority such as the Federal Reserve to dictate interest rates, it creates an environment where financial bubbles can be created very easily. Over the past several decades, we have seen bubble after bubble. Most of these have been the result of the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates artificially low. If the free market had been setting interest rates all this time, things would have never gotten so far out of hand. For example, the housing crash would have never been so horrific if the Federal Reserve had not created such ideal conditions for a housing bubble in the first place. But we allow the Fed to continue to make the same mistakes. Right now, the Federal Reserve continues to set interest rates much, much lower than they should be. This is causing a tremendous misallocation of economic resources, and there will be massive consequences for that down the line. #7 The Federal Reserve System Is Dominated By The Big Wall Street Banks Even since it was created, the Federal Reserve system has been dominated by the big Wall Street banks. The following is from a previous article that I did about the Fed.... The New York representative is the only permanent member of the Federal Open Market Committee, while other regional banks rotate in 2 and 3 year intervals. The former head of the New York Fed, Timothy Geithner, is now U.S. Treasury Secretary. The truth is that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has always been the most important of the regional Fed banks by far, and in turn the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has always been dominated by Wall Street and the major New York banks. #8 It Is Not An Accident That We Saw The Personal Income Tax And The Federal Reserve System Both Come Into Existence In 1913 On February 3rd, 1913 the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. Later that year, the United States Revenue Act of 1913 imposed a personal income tax on the American people and we have had one ever since. Without a personal income tax, it is hard to have a central bank. It takes a lot of money to finance all of the government debt that a central banking system creates. It is no accident that the 16th Amendment was ratified in 1913 and the Federal Reserve system was also created in 1913. They have a symbiotic relationship and they are designed to work together. We could fill Congress with people that are committed to ending this oppressive system, but so far we have chosen not to do that. So our children and our grandchildren will face a lifetime of debt slavery because of us. I am sure they will be thankful for that. #9 The Federal Reserve Has Become Way Too Powerful The Federal Reserve is the most undemocratic institution in America. The Federal Reserve has become so powerful that it is now known as "the fourth branch of government", but there are less checks and balances on the Fed than there are on the other three branches. The Federal Reserve runs the U.S. economy but it is not accountable to the American people. We can't vote those that run the Fed out of office if we do not like what they do. Yes, the president appoints those that run the Fed, but he also knows that if he does not tread lightly he won't get the money from the big Wall Street banks that he needs for his next election. Thankfully, there are a few members of Congress that are complaining about how much power the Fed has. For example, Ron Paul once told MSNBC that he believes that the Federal Reserve is now actually more powerful than Congress..... "The regulations should be on the Federal Reserve. We should have transparency of the Federal Reserve. They can create trillions of dollars to bail out their friends, and we don't even have any transparency of this. They're more powerful than the Congress." As members of Congress such as Ron Paul have started to shed some light on the activities of the Federal Reserve, that has caused many in the mainstream media to come to the defense of the Fed. For example, a recent CNBC article entitled " If The Federal Reserve Is Abolished, What Then? " makes it sound like there is absolutely no other rational alternative to having the Federal Reserve run our economy. But this is not what our founders intended. The founders did not intend for a private banking cartel to issue our money and set our interest rates for us. According to Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. Congress has been given the responsibility to "coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures". So why is the Federal Reserve doing it? But the CNBC article mentioned above makes it sound like the sky would fall if control of the currency was handed back over to the American people. At one point, the article asks the following question.... "How would the U.S. economy then function? Something has to take its place, right?" No, the truth is that we don't need anyone to "manage" our economy. The U.S. Treasury could be in charge of issuing our currency and the free market could set our interest rates. We don't need to have a centrally-planned economy. We aren't China. And it goes against everything that our founders believed to be running up so much government debt. For example, Thomas Jefferson once declared that if he could add just one more amendment to the U.S. Constitution it would be a ban on all government borrowing.... I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government to the genuine principles of its Constitution; I mean an additional article, taking from the federal government the power of borrowing. Oh, how things would have been different if we had only listened to Thomas Jefferson. Please share this article with as many people as you can. These are things that every American should know about the Federal Reserve, and we need to educate the American people about the Fed while there is still time.

Stephen Lendman RINF Alternative News Obama long ago lost credibility. Nothing he says can be believed. He lies, deceives and misinforms. His political career reflects it. He can't be trusted. On August 28, he held a short press conference. He did so ahead of America's Labor Day weekend. He began with a statement before taking questions. It's painful listening to his dissembling. His comments exclude telling Americans what they most need to know. Willful deception substitutes. His agenda excludes good faith. His public posturing reflects it. His war against American workers went unexplained ahead of the day commemorating their struggles. His support for corporate America facilitates permanent job losses, lower wages, fewer benefits, gutted work rules, less health and safety protection, and forfeited security through lost benefits and pensions. Obama: "As commander-in-chief, I will always to what is necessary to protect the American people and defend against evolving threats to our homeland." Fact Check: He's beholden solely to monied interests. His policies harm most people at home and abroad. America's only threats are ones it invents. Obama: "Because of our strikes, the terrorists of ISIL (the Islamic State - IS) are losing arms and equipment. In some areas, Iraqi government and Kurdish forces have begun to push them back." IS "poses an immediate threat to the people of Iraq and to people throughout the region." "And that"s why our military action in Iraq has to be part of a broader, comprehensive strategy to protect our people and to support our partners who are taking the fight to ISIL." "And that starts with Iraq's leaders building on the progress that they've made so far and forming an inclusive government that will unite their country and strengthen their security forces to confront ISIL. Fact check: America created IS. It serves both as enemy and ally. CIA operatives and US special forces train and direct their fighters. Washington's enemy in Iraq is its ally in Syria. Bombing IL has nothing to do with humanitarian intervention, protecting Americans, supporting our partners, and uniting Iraq under inclusive governance. It has everything with serving the interests of Big Oil. It's about achieving unchallenged regional dominance. It's about making the world safe for war profiteers. It's about stoking fear. It's needed to enlist popular support for more war. It's about ravaging one nation after another. It's about assuring pro-Western subservient governance. It's about plundering nations for profit. It's about imperial's dark side. It's about creating a world unfit to live in. Obama: "...Russia is responsible for the violence in eastern Ukraine." "The violence is encouraged by Russia. The separatists are trained by Russia." :They are armed by Russia. They are funded by Russia." "Russia has deliberately and repeatedly violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine." "And the new images of Russian forces inside Ukraine make that plain for the world to see." "This comes as Ukrainian forces are making progress against the separatists." Fact check: Washington bears full responsibility for Ukrainian crisis conditions. It ousted a democratic government. It replaced it with neo-Nazi infested fascists. It did so lawlessly. Since conflict erupted last November, Russia went all-out for peaceful conflict resolution. Washington consistently and repeatedly sabotages its best faith efforts. Russia didn't invade Ukraine. Its military forces don't operate in its territory. They haven't compromised its sovereign independence. So-called images of heavily armed Russian hoards inside Ukraine don't exist. Obama: At next week's NATO summit in Britain, "we'll focus on the additional steps we can take to ensure the Alliance remains prepared for any challenge." "Our meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission will be another opportunity for our alliance to continue our partnership with Ukraine." "And I look forward to reaffirming the unwavering commitment of the United States to Ukraine and its people when I welcome President Poroshenko to the White House next month. Fact check: US-led NATO's only "challenge(s)" are ones it creates. Ukraine is America's newest colony. Obama wants it used as a dagger pointed at Russia's heartland. He wants it part of NATO. He wants US bases on its territory. He wants Russia's sovereignty challenged. He wants it weakened and destroyed. He wants pro-Western stooge governance replacing it. Putin is considered public enemy No. 1 for championing multi-world polarity, scorning imperial's dark side, and protecting Russia's sovereign independence. It bears repeating. Obama solely serves monied interests. He doesn't give a damn about popular ones at home or abroad. Obama: "Our focus (in Iraq) is to protect American personnel on the ground," provide humanitarian aid where needed, "do an effective assessment of Iraqi and Kurdsish capabilities," and "mak(e) sure that (IS) is not overrunning Iraq." Fact check: As explained above, US interests are polar opposite ones Obama claimed. Obama: "(V)iolence...in Syria has obviously given (IS) a safe haven there" in parts of the country. "(T)o degrade (IS) over the long term, we're going to have to build a regional strategy. (W)e're not going to do that alone." "We're going to have to do that with other partners, and particularly Sunni partners, because part of the goal here is to make sure that Sunnis both in Syria and in Iraq feel as if they've got an investment in a government that actually functions, a government that can protect them, a government that makes sure that their families are safe from the barbaric acts that we've seen" by IS. "And right now, those structures are not in place. And that's why...Syria is not simply a military issue." It's a "political" one. It "involves all the Sunni states in the region and (their) leadership recognizing that this cancer (must be) defeat(ed)." IS "has come to represent the very worst elements in the region that we have to deal with collectively." Expect a "long-term project." It involves "stabiliz(ing) Syria" through "moderate" Sunni governance. It involves regime change. "...Assad has lost legitimacy (by) killing tens of thousands of people." "We will continue to support a moderate opposition inside of Syria, in part because we have to give people inside of Syria a choice other than ISIL or Assad." Asked if he needs congressional approval to confront Syria, Obama said as "Commander-in-Chief, I have the authority to engage in the acts that we are conducting." "We don't have a strategy yet. "(T)here is no point in me asking for action (by) Congress before I know exactly (what will) be required...to get the job done." Fact check: Obama uses IL fighters against Syrian ones. They're imported from dozens of countries. CIA and US special forces arm, train and direct them. Obama's "partners" are rogue NATO ones, Israel, and extremist regional states. Obama considers Syria's sovereign independence a "cancer." It's important to defeat, he stresses. Its "worst elements" include opposition to Washington's imperial project. Assad is wrongfully blamed for America's crimes. He's vilified for defending his nation's sovereignty. He's overwhelmingly popular. In june, he was reelected president by a nearly 89% majority. It was through a democratic process independently judged open, free and fair. International law prohibits nations from interfering in the internal affairs of others. America does it repeatedly. It does it extrajudicially. It does it through heavy-handed pressure, threats, coups, assassinations and war when other methods fail. People everywhere deserve better. Washington wants them denied free choice. Obama is the latest in a long line of rogue US leaders. He wants Western interests replacing Syrian sovereign rights. He claims unilateral authority to do it. Obama: "I consider (current) actions (in Ukraine) a continuation of what's been taking place for months now." "(T)here is no doubt that this is not a homegrown, indigenous uprising in eastern Ukraine." "The separatists are backed, trained, armed, financed by Russia." "Throughout this process, we've seen deep Russian involvement in everything that they've done." "...Putin and Russia have repeatedly passed by potential off-ramps to resolve this diplomatically." "(W)e will take additional steps primarily because we have not seen any meaningful action on the part of Russia to actually try to resolve this in diplomatic fashion." "And I think that the sanctions that we've already applied have been effective." Obama wants tougher ones imposed. He's "encouraged by the degree to which our European partners recognize even though they are bearing a cost in implementing these sanctions, they understand that a broader principle is at stake." Fact check: It bears repeating. Washington bears full responsibility for Ukrainian crisis conditions. It's dirty hands orchestrate events on the ground. They manipulate them. They harm ordinary Ukrainians. They create regional instability. They risk belligerent confrontation with Russia. Moscow has nothing to do with ongoing conflict. Washington supports and encourages it. Its European partners are pressured to going along against their own interests. Russia wants things resolved diplomatically. It's gone all-out to restore peace and stability. Obama: "We are not taking military action to solve the Ukrainian problem." Fact check: US-led NATO forces increasingly encroach closer to Russia's borders. Washington wants US bases encircling it. Doing so is hugely provocative. Imagine Washington's reaction if Moscow planned deploying its forces along America's northern and/or southern borders. Imagine if its warships patrolled its east, west, and Mexican Gulf waters. Imagine if its warplanes patrolled close to its airspace. Imagine potential war erupting. Imagine it following provocative US-led NATO plans. Claiming a Russian threat doesn't wash. None whatever exists. Moscow prioritizes peaceful co-existence. America is obsessed with empire building. Advancing it matters most. Confronting Russia is irresponsible. Doing it belligerently is madness. Don't expect Obama to explain.

A Michigan man with a 100-pound scrotum reportedly underwent surgery in California to remove the mass Thursday. Dan Maurer, 39, of Burlington had been struggling with scrotal lymphedema for five years. The rare condition causes the scrotum to grow abnormally large due to what doctors believe are blocked vessels in the lymphatic system that fail to drain fluid from the area.

http://ift.tt/1pmcJMr Posted on August 28, 2014 by WashingtonsBlog For the coming bond bubble disaster By Chris Martenson. Cross-Posted from Peak Prosperity. The current bubbles in financial assets - in equities and bonds of all grades and quality - raging in every major market across the globe are no accident. They are a deliberate creation. The intentional results of policy. Therefore, when they burst, we shouldn't regard the resulting damage as some freak act of nature or other such outcome outside of our control. To reiterate, the carnage will be the very predictable result of some terribly shortsighted decision-making and defective logic. The Root of Evil Blame can and should be laid where it belongs: with the central banks. They were the "experts" who decided to confront the excesses of decades past (which saw borrowing running at roughly 2x the rate of real economic growth) with even easier monetary policies designed to spur even more borrowing. Rather than take stock of the simple fact that nobody can forever borrow at a faster rate than their income is growing (no matter how large that entity may be), the Fed, the ECB, the BoJ and the BoE have conveniently overlooked that simple fact and then boldly claimed that the cure is identical to the disease. If the problem is debt then the solution is even more debt. If the Fed, et al. were doctors, they would prescribe alcohol to the alcoholic. They would administer more lead to the lead-poisoned patient. They would call for more water to put in the pool where a drowning individual is floundering. The bottom line is that the Fed and its ilk made the disastrous decisions that gave us the first two burst bubbles of the new millennium. And the wonder of it all is that, instead of being met at the gates with torches and pitchforks and held to account for their errors, they have instead been granted even greater powers, less oversight, and practically zero blame. And now they've given us a third and, I suspect, final bubble. By which I mean I think the effects of this bursting bubble will be so horrendous that a hundred years might pass before people will again be in the mood to speculate on fantasy wealth. My hope is that, when this third bubble pops, the figurative (and, perhaps, literal?) torches and pitchforks come out. Finally forcing the central banks to answer to the public for their grievously poor decisions. And yes, the investing public also bears a portion of the responsibility for playing along with the central banks. For years, some have consoled themselves with stories about how This Time Is Different, and many have ignored many obvious warning signs as they've enjoyed stock market and bond gains fueled by seemingly limitless liquidity. But in the end, it's the central banks that set the tempo and the melody at the dance hall. When they flood the world with liquidity and set interest rates to 0%, they enforce a Hobbesian choice: either play along in the risk markets, or sit in cash earning less than nothing as inflation eats away at your purchasing power. The central banks are entirely to blame for mis-pricing money and that is the fundamental error that drives every bubble and betrays capital into hopeless investments. So let's all remember to place blame where it is due when the bubble bursts. We shouldn't act surprised because there's really no honor in being caught unawares by something so obvious. The Biggest Bubble(s) Of All Time We've covered the equity bubble in the past, but today we're going to cover the bond bubbles (yes, plural) because the current excess in the bond market is the granddaddy of them all, and is far larger than anything ever recorded in history by a very wide margin. But for the sake of completeness, regarding equities, if you ever wanted to get the willies about the stock market in a single chart, I think this one from Doug Short of Advisor Perspectives which plots the relationship between equity prices and margin debt is about as good as it gets: (Source) Margin debt is simply money borrowed to buy equities. Typically speaking, an average investor with $100,000 in an account can buy up to $150,000 worth of stock. Margin debt is fuel to a rising market and a lead anchor for a falling market. Yes, perhaps this time is different, or perhaps it's exactly the same with speculators borrowing more and more as stock prices rise, sure in the knowledge that they will be smart enough to get out of the way of a falling market (this time). But, enough of material we've covered here recently. Back to bonds. When the bond bubble bursts, so much that people believe to be true will be revealed to be obvious and distressingly ordinary illusions. When there's simply too much debt, in the period leading up to a debt bubble's bursting, everyone is counting on getting paid his or her money back, both the interest and the principal. After the bubble bursts, it's plainly obvious that no such thing will be happening. As is always the case with bubbles (of any sort), the only important question that needs to be answered is: Who will take the losses? One simple answer to that question is: Whoever is holding the bonds when the bubble bursts. Bubbles are structured like a game of hot potato. When the timer finally dings, the person holding the potato loses. It doesn't matter one whit whether the 'hot potato' was a tulip bulb, swamp land, a house in Las Vegas, or a paper financial security. The really striking part about the global bond markets today is that the potatoes have never been more numerous, or hotter. I suppose this would be a good time to revisit how Einstein defined insanity: trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Unfortunately for those hoping for a different outcome, history is 100% consistent on the matter: Bubbles always burst. And when they do, what people thought was fabulous wealth is proven illusory, and it simply vanishes. Not that this clear historical record is keeping humans from trying to cheat the odds. Given that the Fed has engineered three increasingly larger bubbles within an unprecedentedly-short fifteen-year time span, perhaps we shouldn't persecute them. After all, they may easily be able to plead 'not guilty' by reason of insanity. $100 trillion - is that a lot? We frequently throw around big numbers in our analysis. We even try to explain them in terms that help us mentally grasp an appreciation of their enormity (watch the video How Much Is A Trillion?, as an example). But the size of the bond market across the developed world defies even our best efforts. After all, if $1 trillion dollars is a stack of $1,000 bills 68 miles high, then I guess $100 trillion would be a stack 6,800 miles high: Global Debt Exceeds $100 Trillion as Governments Binge, BIS Says Mar 9, 2014 The amount of debt globally has soared more than 40 percent to $100 trillion since the first signs of the financial crisis as governments borrowed to pull their economies out of recession and companies took advantage of record lowinterest rates, according to theBank for International Settlements. The $30 trillion increase from $70 trillion between mid-2007 and mid-2013 compares with a $3.86 trillion decline in the value ofequitiesto $53.8 trillion in the same period, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The jump in debt as measured by the Basel,Switzerland-based BISin its quarterly review is almost twice the U.S.'sgross domestic product. Note that global debt climbed by $30 trillion between 2007 and 2013, a 42% increase while global equities actually declined a few trillion (to $54 trillion), yielding a global debt-to-equity ratio of almost 2. So, a 42% increase in just 6 years. Did global GDP advance by 42% during this same period? No. Not even close. Did private companies borrow all that money planning to plow back into productive enterprises? Nope. Companies borrowed relatively little of $30 trillion, and even then, they mainly used that newly-borrowed money to buy back shares and/or stash it on their balance sheets. Who did borrow all that money then? Why, nations did. Sovereign entities that were desperate to keep things afloat and borrow heavily (because private concerns weren't able to take on new debt fast enough). Why? Because the world's debt pile must keep expanding. That's the world we live in today. If the pile should start to contract, the game of Who Will Take The Losses? begins. And governments know (sometimes consciously, sometimes subconsciously) that the debt bubble has become so monstrous, and so interconnected globally, that even a moderate correction will wipe out so many players that the world financial system will be brought to its knees. Or worse. In Part 2: Something Very Wicked This Way Comes, we provide great detail into why sovereign and corporate (both high-grade and junk) debt markets simply and mathematically must contract. Current prices are so historically divorced from fundamentals at this stage that this 'prediction' is about as elementary as counting on gravity to bring a tossed stone back to earth. Given the excesses of the stock and bond markets I am increasingly concerned that this next bubble burst will be far worse than any that has yet come since I've been alive. Countries will fail financially and economically, political upheaval will follow, fortunes and dreams will be shattered, and lots of people will lose their jobs. In short, lots of things will break and cease to function as the greatest wealth transfer in all of history plays out.

Once again, the very institutions we should be able to rely on to protect us have been shown to fail. At least 1,400 of the most vulnerable in our society were systematically, extensively and protractedly abused in a manner that defies credence - but, as evidenced elsewhere, not for the first time. What kind of country do we live in that this can happen repeatedly on such a scale? Posted on August 27, 2014 by Richard Mott Once again, the very institutions we should be able to rely on to protect us have been shown to fail. At least 1,400 of the most vulnerable in our society were systematically, extensively and protractedly abused in a manner that defies credence - but, as evidenced elsewhere, not for the first time. What kind of country do we live in that this can happen repeatedly on such a scale? The suffering of, and injury to, the victims is beyond my understanding, as is the fact that much of this torment could have been stopped, had it not been for one thing - political correctness. Yet again we hear the words "shocking" and "appalling" and "horrific". But while children as young as 11 were raped, some repeatedly - can you believe that? - South Yorkshire Police and Rotherham Council were more interested in sustaining social harmony because there was an ethnic dimension to the perpetrators. This is the very same council that persecuted a respectable foster couple simply for belonging to UKIP. Will the criminals be caught, prosecuted and jailed - unlikely. Will any council officials or police officers be disciplined or simply resign on a point of honour - almost no chance. In a report full of low points, this section detailing the police response to two cases of child abuse is perhaps the nadir: Will the victims be able to put these horrors behind them - I dearly hope so. I am sickened at the inversion and perversion of ideals and behaviour that has been allowed to creep into our society. It is now a nightmare where common sense, duty, honour, fairness, decency, justice, public service, free speech and so much else that was once good have been corrupted. The craven legacy parties caused this desperate state of affairs but I do not see any of them, whatever their public pronouncements, being able or willing to do anything to correct it. Time for a change.

The terror suspect dragged off a plane at Melbourne airport by Australian Federal Police was reportedly carrying images of beheadings and the Islamic State flag, as well as up to $30,000 in Australian bills. He was travelling to the Middle East with family members who were not suspected of any terror-related activities but who chose not to continue their flight, the Herald Sun has reported. The man was released from custody after being questioned, but it is understood he is still under investigation. The new Australian Customs and Border Protection counter-terrorism units were introduced last week to monitor the movements of people on the national security watchlist. So far they're based at Sydney and Melbourne international airports but eventually will be stationed at airports across the country. They'll cost nearly $50 million over the next four years to run and are part of the $630 million in beefed up security measures promised by the Abbott government to counter home-grown terrorism. An extra 80 specialist Border Force officers will work in tandem with these units. The AFP will also receive an extra $6 million to divert and monitor radicals returning to Australia while two dedicated teams will disrupt domestic extremist activities. There are believed to be about 60 Australians fighting in the Middle East in conflicts in Iraq and Syria, while 15 others have already been killed in the fighting. http://ift.tt/1te5JTg

On the surface, the cases appear nearly identical: Michael Brown and Dillon Taylor , two young, unarmed men with sketchy criminal pasts shot to death by police officers two days apart. But while the world knows of the highly publicized situation involving 18-year-old Mr. Brown , whose Aug. 9 death in Ferguson , Missouri touched off violence, protests and an angry national debate, most people outside Utah have never heard of 20-year-old Mr. Taylor . Critics say there's a reason for the discrepancy in media coverage: race. Mr. Brown was black and the officer who shot him was white. Mr. Taylor wasn't black - he's been described as white and Hispanic - and the officer who shot him Aug. 11 outside a 7-Eleven in South Salt Lake wasn't white. The perceived double standard is fueling resentment and talk of double standards on conservative talk radio and social media, where the website Twitchy has compiled a list of Twitter comments asking why Mr. Brown 's death has been front-page news for weeks while Mr. Taylor 's was a footnote at best. Critics of the disparity in coverage and outrage said that it is actually the Brown case that is the outlier: Statistics indicate that black-on-black crime is far more common than the case of a white-on-black crime. For homicide, for instance, the FBI in 2012 found that of the 2,648 black murder victims, some 2,412 were killed by fellow blacks and only 193 by whites. (Whites also were likely far more likely to be killed by fellow whites than by members of other races, according to the data.) Talk-show host Rush Limbaugh blamed the discrepancy between the two cases on "the liberal world view" that portrays whites as oppressors and blacks as victims. " n the current climate in the United States, a black person can never be the oppressor, and a white person can never be a victim," said Mr. Limbaugh on his national radio show last week. Rev. Al Sharpton, speaking at Monday's funeral service for Mr. Brown , attacked local policing methods in the case and the militarization of local police forces, but also noted that American blacks also must learn from Ferguson . "Some of us act like the definition of blackness is how low you can go," the civil rights activist and MSNBC host said. "Blackness has never been about being a gangster or thug. ... Blackness was, no matter how low we were pushed down, we rose up anyhow." Another difference between Missouri and Utah was that Mr. Taylor 's death didn't result in riots. There were peaceful protests a week ago outside the Salt Lake City police headquarters covered by local media, but no outbreaks of violence as happened nightly on the streets of Ferguson . CNN news host Jake Tapper acknowledged the disparity in coverage of the Brown and Taylor cases in the mainstream media, noting that the press often undercovers such topics as inner-city violence and the high rates of black-on-black crime. But Mr. Tapper said Monday that media "critics fail to see" that the greater context of a story such as the Michael Brown shooting, including the reaction it sparked in the St. Louis, in the black community nationwide, and with local authorities and the Obama administration. National media can't be expected to ignore the rioting that occurred in Ferguson , but questions have also been raised as to whether media overkill actually helped fuel and prolong the unrest. Some of the protesters arrested by St. Louis police hail from as far as California, Illinois, New York and Texas. As with the Brown case, what provoked police to shoot Mr. Taylor is under investigation. Officers were responding to a report of a man "waving a gun around" when they confronted Mr. Taylor , his brother and his cousin leaving the 7-Eleven. "South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Darin Sweeten said three officers gave Taylor verbal commands to reveal his hands, but Taylor failed to comply and was 'visibly upset,'" said an Aug. 19 report in the Deseret News. " Taylor was subsequently shot and died at the scene." Family members have said Mr. Taylor was unarmed, although police have not confirmed that. His brother Jerrail Taylor told the Salt Lake Tribune that Dillon was wearing headphones and didn't hear police until they surrounded him. Jerrail Taylor also said his brother may have been pulling up his pants before responding to a command to lie down on the ground when he was shot. Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Burbank said at an Aug. 19 press conference that the officer, whom he described as "not a white officer," was wearing a body camera. He said the video would be released after the investigation into the shooting had been completed. "The officer did not set out to use deadly force," said Mr. Burbank on the press conference video. "We have an unfortunate incident where Dillon Taylor lost his life. But I cannot stress enough that this is not Ferguson ." Mr. Taylor was wanted on a $25,000 bench warrant "for a probation violation in connection with felony robbery and obstructing justice convictions," according to the Salt Lake Tribune, although it's unlikely that the officers who accosted him were aware of the warrant. A post on his Facebook page four days before his death reflects his stress over the warrant: "im gonna have warrnts out for my arrest soon. ALL my family has turned and snitched on me. ill die before I go do a lot of time in a cell." Video shows Mr. Brown had just robbed a convenience store and shoved a clerk before he was shot by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. The officer, who reportedly went to the hospital afterward for an X-ray on his swollen face and eye socket, shot the unarmed victim six times. Source: http://ift.tt/1qJhkDI

An open letter for the people in Gaza Lancet letter by Paola Manduca, Iain Chalmers, Derek Summerfield, Mads Gilbert, Swee Ange, on behalf of 24 signatories We are doctors and scientists, who spend our lives developing means to care and protect health and lives. We are also informed people; we teach the ethics of our professions, together with the knowledge and practice of it. We all have worked in and known the situation of Gaza for years. On the basis of our ethics and practice, we are denouncing what we witness in the aggression of Gaza by Israel. We ask our colleagues, old and young professionals, to denounce this Israeli aggression. We challenge the perversity of a propaganda that justifies the creation of an emergency to masquerade a massacre, a so-called "defensive aggression". In reality it is a ruthless assault of unlimited duration, extent, and intensity. We wish to report the facts as we see them and their implications on the lives of the people. We are appalled by the military onslaught on civilians in Gaza under the guise of punishing terrorists. This is the third large scale military assault on Gaza since 2008. Each time the death toll is borne mainly by innocent people in Gaza, especially women and children under the unacceptable pretext of Israel eradicating political parties and resistance to the occupation and siege they impose. This action also terrifies those who are not directly hit, and wounds the soul, mind, and resilience of the young generation. Our condemnation and disgust are further compounded by the denial and prohibition for Gaza to receive external help and supplies to alleviate the dire circumstances. The blockade on Gaza has tightened further since last year and this has worsened the toll on Gaza's population. In Gaza, people suffer from hunger, thirst, pollution, shortage of medicines, electricity, and any means to get an income, not only by being bombed and shelled. Power crisis, gasoline shortage, water and food scarcity, sewage outflow and ever decreasing resources are disasters caused directly and indirectly by the siege.1 People in Gaza are resisting this aggression because they want a better and normal life and, even while crying in sorrow, pain, and terror, they reject a temporary truce that does not provide a real chance for a better future. A voice under the attacks in Gaza is that of Um Al Ramlawi who speaks for all in Gaza: "They are killing us all anyway-either a slow death by the siege, or a fast one by military attacks. We have nothing left to lose-we must fight for our rights, or die trying."2 Gaza has been blockaded by sea and land since 2006. Any individual of Gaza, including fishermen venturing beyond 3 nautical miles of the coast of Gaza, face being shot by the Israeli Navy. No one from Gaza can leave from the only two checkpoints, Erez or Rafah, without special permission from the Israelis and the Egyptians, which is hard to come by for many, if not impossible. People in Gaza are unable to go abroad to study, work, visit families, or do business. Wounded and sick people cannot leave easily to get specialised treatment outside Gaza. Entries of food and medicines into Gaza have been restricted and many essential items for survival are prohibited.3 Before the present assault, medical stock items in Gaza were already at an all time low because of the blockade.3 They have run out now. Likewise, Gaza is unable to export its produce. Agriculture has been severely impaired by the imposition of a buffer zone, and agricultural products cannot be exported due to the blockade. 80% of Gaza's population is dependent on food rations from the UN. Much of Gaza's buildings and infrastructure had been destroyed during Operation Cast Lead, 2008-09, and building materials have been blockaded so that schools, homes, and institutions cannot be properly rebuilt. Factories destroyed by bombardment have rarely been rebuilt adding unemployment to destitution. Despite the difficult conditions, the people of Gaza and their political leaders have recently moved to resolve their conflicts "without arms and harm" through the process of reconciliation between factions, their leadership renouncing titles and positions, so that a unity government can be formed abolishing the divisive factional politics operating since 2007. This reconciliation, although accepted by many in the international community, was rejected by Israel. The present Israeli attacks stop this chance of political unity between Gaza and the West Bank and single out a part of the Palestinian society by destroying the lives of people of Gaza. Under the pretext of eliminating terrorism, Israel is trying to destroy the growing Palestinian unity. Among other lies, it is stated that civilians in Gaza are hostages of Hamas whereas the truth is that the Gaza Strip is sealed by the Israelis and Egyptians. Gaza has been bombed continuously for the past 14 days followed now by invasion on land by tanks and thousands of Israeli troops. More than 60 000 civilians from Northern Gaza were ordered to leave their homes. These internally displaced people have nowhere to go since Central and Southern Gaza are also subjected to heavy artillery bombardment. The whole of Gaza is under attack. The only shelters in Gaza are the schools of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), uncertain shelters already targeted during Cast Lead, killing many. According to Gaza Ministry of Health and UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA),1 as of July 21, 149 of the 558 killed in Gaza and 1100 of the 3504 wounded are children. Those buried under the rubble are not counted yet. As we write, the BBC reports of the bombing of another hospital, hitting the intensive care unit and operating theatres, with deaths of patients and staff. There are now fears for the main hospital Al Shifa. Moreover, most people are psychologically traumatised in Gaza. Anyone older than 6 years has already lived through their third military assault by Israel. The massacre in Gaza spares no one, and includes the disabled and sick in hospitals, children playing on the beach or on the roof top, with a large majority of non-combatants. Hospitals, clinics, ambulances, mosques, schools, and press buildings have all been attacked, with thousands of private homes bombed, clearly directing fire to target whole families killing them within their homes, depriving families of their homes by chasing them out a few minutes before destruction. An entire area was destroyed on July 20, leaving thousands of displaced people homeless, beside wounding hundreds and killing at least 70-this is way beyond the purpose of finding tunnels. None of these are military objectives. These attacks aim to terrorise, wound the soul and the body of the people, and make their life impossible in the future, as well as also demolishing their homes and prohibiting the means to rebuild. Weaponry known to cause long-term damages on health of the whole population are used; particularly non fragmentation weaponry and hard-head bombs.4, 5 We witnessed targeted weaponry used indiscriminately and on children and we constantly see that so-called intelligent weapons fail to be precise, unless they are deliberately used to destroy innocent lives. We denounce the myth propagated by Israel that the aggression is done caring about saving civilian lives and children's wellbeing. Israel's behaviour has insulted our humanity, intelligence, and dignity as well as our professional ethics and efforts. Even those of us who want to go and help are unable to reach Gaza due to the blockade. This "defensive aggression" of unlimited duration, extent, and intensity must be stopped. Additionally, should the use of gas be further confirmed, this is unequivocally a war crime for which, before anything else, high sanctions will have to be taken immediately on Israel with cessation of any trade and collaborative agreements with Europe. As we write, other massacres and threats to the medical personnel in emergency services and denial of entry for international humanitarian convoys are reported.6 We as scientists and doctors cannot keep silent while this crime against humanity continues. We urge readers not to be silent too. Gaza trapped under siege, is being killed by one of the world's largest and most sophisticated modern military machines. The land is poisoned by weapon debris, with consequences for future generations. If those of us capable of speaking up fail to do so and take a stand against this war crime, we are also complicit in the destruction of the lives and homes of 1.8 million people in Gaza. We register with dismay that only 5% of our Israeli academic colleagues signed an appeal to their government to stop the military operation against Gaza. We are tempted to conclude that with the exception of this 5%, the rest of the Israeli academics are complicit in the massacre and destruction of Gaza. We also see the complicity of our countries in Europe and North America in this massacre and the impotence once again of the international institutions and organisations to stop this massacre.

The Lancet Letter On Gaza

By: jironde on: 5:34 AM
http://ift.tt/1tDp12h 26.08.2014 Author: Seth Ferris There have been predictable howls of outrage at the beheading of 40-year old journalist James Foley in Syria in retaliation for US air support to those fighting ISIS in Iraq. It is of course right to be angry about such a barbaric and inhuman murder. However there would be even more outrage if the real story behind it were widely known. Foley was no ordinary hack. He was once embedded with the US Army in Afghanistan, ostensibly paid to provide reports. CNN's reports of his murder signally overlooked his tour of duty there. Knowing how CNN manufactures the stories which suit it through selective use of facts and factoids, this in itself raises suspicion about what Foley was really doing in Syria and whether he was working as a freelance journalist or on "special assignment" when he initially went missing two years ago. Foley grew up in New Hampshire and was originally a teacher, at one point teaching prison inmates in Arizona, before attending the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. After graduation, his first assignment was with the U.S. Army's 173rd Brigade and 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. Foley was covering the Syrian civil war for GlobalPost and Agence France-Presse (AFP) when he was allegedly pulled from the car he was traveling in and abducted at gunpoint. Several years ago U.S. officials in Afghanistan acknowledged in the US Military's "Stars and Stripes" newspaper that any reporter seeking to embed with U.S. forces, as Foley did, is subject to a full background check by The Rendon Group. This organisation gained notoriety in the run-up to the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq for its work in helping to create the Iraqi National Congress and topple the Saddam regime. The Iraqi National Congress, reportedly funded by the CIA, furnished much of the false information about Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction which was used by the Bush administration to justify the invasion. Before going to Afghanistan Foley must have been screened by The Rendon Group to determine whether his past coverage had portrayed the U.S. military or foreign policy in a sufficiently positive light. As Foley had not long graduated after his mid-life career change it is unclear whether he had written enough articles to provide a basis for making such a judgment. Therefore it is very likely that he actually volunteered to do intelligence work, without realising the consequences. Rendon unto Caesar that which is Caesar's The Rendon Group is proud of its ability to sell a war. The claims about Iraq's supposed nuclear and biological weapons programme and links to terrorist groups were untrue, we now know, and such a professional media organisation, contracted to The Pentagon, must have known this at the time. But it was there when the Government of Kuwait and the CIA needed to get its message across. The Group presents itself as purely a communications body. Its website says, "For nearly three decades, The Rendon Group has been providing innovative global strategic communications solutions from our headquarters in Washington, DC. TRG utilizes state-of-the-art technology as well as traditional public relations tools, assisting leading commercial, government and military organizations." But it has always gone beyond that limited remit. John Rendon, its owner, gives us an insight into its greater plans for the region in his Twitter feed. For instance, "There are signs of a potential breakthrough between Turkey & the PKK (#Kurds) in the aftermath of Erdogan's presidential victory" and "In a message to the West (Europe), Turkey sees no impediments to trade with Russia." It is now known that the training, arming and insertion of ISIS was the sort of CIA special operation the Rendon Group has always provided PR support for. William Engdahl, an award-winning geopolitical analyst and strategic risk consultant, has described how the appearance of ISIS in Iraq stinks of a CIA/NATO 'dirty war' op. It is not coincidental that the ISIS military success in the key Iraqi oil centre, Mosul, came at a time when political winds in Turkey are not blowing in the favour of the United States. Well-informed Iraqi journalists say that ISIS overran Mosul with barely a shot being fired. According to one report, residents of Tikrit have reported that "soldiers were handing over their weapons and uniforms peacefully to militants who ordinarily would have been expected to kill government soldiers on the spot." The US Embassy was involved in the smuggling Umar al Shishani, the red-headed ISIS commander, from the Pankisi Gorge region of Georgia to Turkey and then Syria. Various former US ambassadors to Georgia, especially John Bass, John Tefft and Richard Miles, have been involved in getting the region to where it is now by ensuring that the US and CIA trained all the "freedom fighters" and terrorists running rampant there through aid programmes implemented in Georgia. So the US has manufactured a war which needs the oxygen of ongoing publicity to continue being supported. ISIS is doing its best to provide that publicity on its own, but so many indiscriminate killings have jaded the public. If people feel there is nothing that can be done to help the victims of ISIS they will not support a continuing war. A nice beheading of an innocent journalist focuses attention very conveniently however, though it is doubtful that being murdered to order was part of any contract Foley signed with the US military. Out of the manual The Rendon Group has worked closely with a British partner, Hill and Knowlton. This company was responsible for the 1990 Kuwaiti incubator media scam, which claimed that Kuwaiti babies were being removed from incubators by Iraqi forces. This was another totally fabricated news story which was used to get Congressional approval for the 1991 Gulf War. The Group seems to be following the same manual in Iraq, but unfortunately its activities are not limited to fabricating words on paper. James Bamford of Rolling Stone has reminded his readers of the terrible story of Private Jessica Lynch. "It shocked the United States: she walked into an ambush and fought like a lioness. There was even a movie made about the incident." But he also reminds us that this was another Rendon Group story. Lynch herself has spent the years since her release from captivity telling the much more banal truth of what happened to her and slamming her use in a fabricated story as a propaganda symbol. It is conceivable that the US military did not know that she was walking into an ambush but it probably should have. She was not slapped by an Iraqi colonel in the hospital, as the source of that story claimed, nor was his wife working at the hospital as he also alleged. She was not raped, as reported, and nor did she have gunshot or stab wounds, as reported: her injuries derived from a car accident. Nevertheless she became a cause celebre, without her consent then or now, on the basis of these factoids. The difference is that Lynch has survived and is telling the world how she was used. Foley has not been given this opportunity. Maybe he knew too much already, maybe he was trying to actually become a journalist instead of primarily an intelligence operative. But now we will never know. Jessica Lynch's father has said that the Army recruiter he encountered did not lie to the kids. One wonders what Foley was told when he was recruited, and whether he ever understood what his real mission would end up being. Extreme but true So have the US military, the CIA and The Rendon Group deliberately sent one of their own to be murdered to sell a war? Until they can answer the questions the mainstream media won't ask this will remain a possible explanation. What sort of screening was done on Foley and how was it determined that his previous articles were acceptable? If The Rendon Group, with a track record of manufacturing fake stories to serve propaganda purposes, did this screening what were they really looking for? Was Foley doing nothing but report news stories which suited the purposes of the US, which would not have let him embed with the forces otherwise, or was he also doing other work which suited US purposes, whatever that may have been? The murder has had the desired effect. "The entire world is appalled" by ISIS's slaughter of American journalist James Foley, a visibly angry President Obama said during a press conference at Marttha's Vineyard. "No just God would stand for what they did yesterday or every single day. People like this ultimately fail. They fail because the future's won by those who build and not destroy. The world is shaped by people like Jim Foley." Foley is not the only beheading victim. At this moment ISIS is beheading Christians in the territories it occupies. The same President Obama has been urged to rescue these Christians or provide them with shelter at the very least. He has done neither so far. Apparently these Christians, people driven from their homes and persecuted for their faith rather than people who volunteered for intelligence work, are not shaping the world when they have more reason to be. Nor was Foley beheaded by any random jihadist group. Apparently these were British people who had gone overseas to fight the infidel. The UK police have long sought to combat the radicalisation of young Moslems and asked community organisations top help them put concrete measures in place to prevent this happening. Yet the difference in funding available for this activity, as opposed to that spent bringing radical preachers into the UK and removing genuine Moslem ones, has stopped these activities in their tracks. In the final analysis the brutal murder of James Foley gives the US what it needs most, a rallying point to reassert the use of US forces in the region, especially Northern Iraq. The deaths of ordinary civilians at the hands of this US-inserted group have failed to do this. A number of questions need to be asked about this atrocity. However this whole sickening charade, and who has played which part in it, answers the question we all ask daily: "what is wrong with the world today?"

Russian paratroopers captured in Ukraine 'accidentally crossed border' Ukrainians release images and video of Russian paratroopers captured in Ukraine despite Moscow's repeated claims that its troops have never crossed border Eight of the ten captured soldiers who crossed into Ukraine By Roland Oliphant, Moscow 1:33PM BST 26 Aug 2014 Ten Russian paratroopers who were captured in Ukraine on Monday crossed the border "accidentally" during a routine frontier patrol, Russia's Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday. Ukraine's Security Service, the SBU, said on Monday that the men were captured near the village of Dzerkalne, about 25 miles southeast of the rebels' besieged stronghold, the city of Donetsk. The village is 13 miles north of the nearest section of the Russian border. In its first public admission that regular Russian forces had crossed into Ukraine, a defence ministry official said the troops had made a "mistake" because of the poorly marked border. "These servicemen really did take part in a patrol of a section of the Russian-Ukrainian border, crossing it likely by mistake at an unequipped and unmarked point, as far as we are aware they offered no resistance to the Ukrainian armed forces when arrested," a Ministry of Defence source told Russia's state-owned RIA Novosti news agency. Related Articles United States accuses Russia of 'escalating' crisis in Ukraine 26 Aug 2014 Ukraine fights 'tank column from Russia' at border 25 Aug 2014 Russia 'to send second convoy into Ukraine' 25 Aug 2014 Prisoners of war marched through streets of Donetsk 24 Aug 2014 Russia has previously vigorously denied that its troops have crossed into Ukraine, despite repeated accusations from the Ukrainian and Western governments that it is providing men and material to the pro-Russian rebels fighting in the area. The admission comes a day after the Ukrainian military said it repelled a cross-border attack involving ten tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles and two military trucks near the Sea of Azov. Ukraine described the attack, which Moscow denied knowledge of, as an attempt to open a "second front" in a southern part of Donetsk region previously relatively undisturbed by fighting. Meanwhile, Russian media published photographs of the fresh graves of two young men in Pskov, Russia, who were widely reported to have been paratroopers who died fighting in Ukraine. The names of the dead men and some of those who were captured match social networking pages of young soldiers with the same names. In interrogation videos released by the SBU, four of the captured soldiers identify themselves as Ivan Romantsov, Ivan Melchukov, Sergei Smirnov, and Alexei Generalov. All are from the 98th Guards Airborne Division, which is based in Kostroma in central Russia. The videos, apparently filmed in a tent shortly after they were captured, show the men visibly shaken but without obvious signs of physical injury. It is unclear whether they were speaking under duress. While their accounts vary, they each describe being deployed to Rostov region in southern Russia on a "training exercise" several days previously, before being sent on a "march" with a column of vehicles with few orders and little understanding of where they were going. None of the men said they had been told they were going to Ukraine or that they were on a combat mission. "They didn't say anything, just 'march 70 kilometres'," says the man identified as Melchukov. "I guessed it, but I didn't know until they started shelling us." The man identified as Sgt Romantsov, who describes himself as the second in command of a fighting vehicle, said his unit had been told to change uniforms, paint over distinguishing marks on their vehicles and hand over documents and mobile phones to their commanding officer before setting off. "We asked why they were taking our phones off us, and the answer was we would be near the Ukrainian border, and the Ukrainians could allegedly work out our position from the phone signal and shell us," he says. After crossing into Ukraine through fields, their column appears to have come under fire before they were captured. "My vehicle came under fire, and I realised it was not a drill," Sgt Romantsov says. It is not clear if any Russians died in the incident, although one of the men, Smirnov, said at least one tracked fighting vehicle was struck by a shell after they encountered tanks flying Ukrainian flags. Melchukov said the column came under mortar fire, followed by Grad rockets "from Russia." He does not say how he knew where the incoming rocket fire was coming from. The soldiers' fate is uncertain, although the defence source who spoke to RIA Novosti hinted Moscow would expect the men to be returned to Russia because Ukrainian troops crossing the other way had also been allowed to go home. "We made no unnecessary fuss about it, but simply allowed all who wished to return to Ukrainian territory at a safe place," the official said, referring to several hundred Ukrainian soldiers who crossed the border in July after running out of ammunition during a weeks-long battle with separatists near the frontier. Tuesday's incident comes nearly two weeks after the Telegraph witnessed a column of unmarked armoured vehicles accompanied by trucks with Russian military plates cross the border into Ukraine via a hole in the fence earlier this month. The Russian government forcefully denied any such incident had taken place, saying that mobile patrols do move around border areas but never leave Russian territory. While the OSCE has observer missions at two official crossings, their mandate does not extend to any point beyond those two checkpoints. Other parts of the border are extremely porous and cross-crossed by unofficial crossings and dirt tracks that have for years been used by locals to travel between neighbouring villages.
