Motorcycle prank gone wrong - CRASH in 30 seconds or less

"It isn't enough to give a person a new life or money or a new car, you have to teach them how to fish themselves." Oprah Winfrey has shed some light on her relationship with the so-called "secret son," who awkwardly ambushed her this month at a Midtown TV taping. Winfrey said the man who surprised her Oct. 15 outside the Ed Sullivan Theater was Calvin Mitchell, whom she took under her wing more than 20 years ago when she met him on the set of a movie she was filming. She said she has no long-lost child. "We were shooting in the projects in Chicago and I was sitting on set during a break, and this cute little sparkly-eyed boy came underneath the yellow tape to hand me a soda," Winfrey told "Entertainment Tonight." "I was so charmed by him that I started talking to him about his family, his school life, and found out that he was in a situation where his mother didn't have a job and they were stuck in the projects." Winfrey said she helped Calvin's mother get a job and move out of the projects, but despite her best efforts Calvin was unable to make it work at two private schools she paid for . "I said, 'Calvin, this is the moment," she recalled. "This is a seminal moment for you. I know you are 16 and can't see the road ahead, but if you leave this school and refuse to get an education - I have tried to offer you an education twice - there isn't another school I can put you in . If you leave this school, I am done. There is nothing else I can do.' ... And that was my last conversation with Calvin in the early '90s." Winfrey said she didn't immediately recognize Calvin when he approached her after a taping of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" earlier this month. She said she was "disappointed" that he colluded with "The National Enquirer" to "set up" the awkward reunion. She instructed a staffer to get Calvin's phone number. Winfrey said that it was her experience with Calvin that inspired her to open her Leadership Academy for Girls in 2007. " I learned from that experience ," Winfrey said. " If you really want to change somebody's life, you've got to be able to spend enough time with them to change the way they think about what their life can be. It isn't enough to give a person a new life or money or a new car, you have to teach them how to fish themselves ." SOURCE: http://ift.tt/1iofdrt

Truck vs Wooden Bridge (Epic Fail 2015)

By: jironde on: 2:48 PM
According to Debka file: The battle for Al-Safira, 20 km. south of Aleppo - and the key to its capture - will go down in Iran's Revolutionary history as the most humiliating defeat its elite forces have sustained in all its 36 years. This week, Iran sent into battle outside its borders 2,000 of its best-trained, loyal and well-equipped combat troops, detached from six elite Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) units. The battle at Al-Safira, fought with Russian air cover alongside Hizballah and Syrian army forces, was supposed to be the turning point in the Syrian civil war. Its objective was to break through Islamic State and Nusra Front defense lines around Al-Safira, and knock over the positions the Islamists had erected for blocking the roads from Aleppo and central Syria to Damascus, among them Route 5, the main highway. After that, they planned to advance on Aleppo. Their offensive had the opposite result. Fighters from ISIS and the Nusra Front stopped the Iranian and Syrian troops in their tracks and forced them to abandon the sections they held along the main transportation routes leading to Aleppo. So not only did the Iranian-led army fail to clear the way to this key city, but they were driven back by ISIS fighters, who took control of the 20-kilometer route from Al-Safira to Aleppo. The day ended with the jihadis in position to tighten the siege on both cities. On Thursday, Oct. 29, ISIS followed up on its victory by seizing control of the eastern neighborhoods of Al-Safira and advancing towards the center of the city. The losses sustained by the IRGC, which spearheaded the ground attack, were heavy, mostly in the fighting in the rural area south of Aleppo. How could this happen to Tehran's supposedly formidable forces? Iran's death toll in the battle for Aleppo may never be known, but the numbers of officers and enlisted men who died was so high and the shock effect so extreme that IRGC Deputy Commander, Gen. Hossein Salami had to call a live news conference on Iran's state-run television Wednesday, Oct. 28, to explain why his country came to be involved in the Syrian war. He depicted Syria as "the front line in the battle against Western forces, particularly the US... which is seeking to implement a destructive plan in the Arab world." He then argued: "Had Iran not intervened, the chaos would have spread into Lebanon, Iraq and elsewhere." But DEBKAfile's military sources point out that this explanation offered no answer to the main question troubling Iran's leaders and the IRGC command: On what grounds can they continue to boast that Iran's army is capable of destroying the US military within 10 days, and the IDF in one day, when Iran's special forces, armored corps, urban warfare units and airborne brigades, backed by the Russian air force, not only failed to rout ISIS forces, but were humiliated into retreating from their strategic positions amid heavy losses? DEBKAfile has obtained the list of the six elite Iranian brigades which sent units to the Al-Safira battle for Aleppo: The Saberin brigade , a Special Operations unit established in 1992 to fight Kurdish and Arab guerillas with separatist aspirations. Most of its fighters are from Tehran, The Fatemyoun brigade , consisting entirely of Afghan Shiites. Their regular duty was to guard the Tomb of Zeynab, a Shiite shrine in the suburbs of Damascus. But a month ago, the IRGC expanded the brigade to division strength of 15,000 fighters for front-line combat in Syria and Iraq. Brigade 15 - or the Emam Hassan Mojtaba Brigade. Made up of fighters from central Iran, the brigade specializes in guerilla and urban warfare. Independent brigade 83 , or the Emam Jaafar Saydeq Brigade. This is an airborne unit whose fighters are rated as the toughest, most merciless and religiously motivated of all IRGC contingents. Not surprisingly, they come from Qom province, whose center, the city of Qom, houses Iran's clerical establishment and is the most important Shiite site after the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq. Brigade 33, or the Al-Mahdi Brigade. This is another airborne unit with extensive experience in guerrilla warfare, which is based in the city of Jahrom. The Ahwaz Armored Brigade , or the Hazrat-Hojjat Brigade. Its fighters come from the largely Arab-speaking and constantly restive province of Khuzestan in southeastern Iran. The brigade was upgraded recently with advanced weapons systems for fighting in Syria, Iraq, or any other neighboring country. The six Revolutionary Guards brigades were held up proudly as Iran's finest fighting units, the invincible bulwark of the revolutionary Islamic regime in Tehran against the mightiest of its enemies. The vast gap between their performance and the ayatollahs' fiery rhetoric is bound to redound on the authorities in Tehran which sent them into battle. Credits to DebkaFile http://ift.tt/1P17XAe

Every country on earth has its stupid people. But a recent Rand study examining 160 countries concludes America now has the highest percentage of stupid people in all 10 internationally recognized categories of stupidity. This is unprecedented. Percentage wise, America now has (in order of increasing stupidity) more nincompoops, jerks, numb nuts, shitheads, utter halfwits, morons, imbeciles, idiots, assholes and complete assholes than any other country in the world (in fairness, America just edged out France in utter halfwits and barely beat the UK in complete assholes). This comprehensive study examined multiple factors and conditions contributing to the various categories of stupidity. By far the factor contributing most to the final rankings in all categories was the competence (or lack thereof) of the government sustained by the people of each country. The study clearly shows the competence of a country's government directly reflects the mental competence of the people it represents (conversely, the stupider a government's policies, the stupider the people it represents). Americans proudly claim their government is "of the people, by the people, for the people." So what better way to evaluate the mental competence of the American people than by evaluating the reasonableness of their government's policies? The study found every government supports at least a few stupid policies. Several really stupid policies were the norm in nearly half of the 160 countries, and further, every really stupid policy and every really , really stupid policy was shared by at least 10 other countries. So America isn't alone in supporting patently asinine policies. But the US government was off the charts in the total number, the vast extent, and the negative worldwide impact of its really , really , stupid policies (head-stuck-way-up-your-ass type policies). In fact, many of the world's head-stuck-way-up-your-ass policies were created by the US government and exported to other countries (often using military and/or monetary threats). Top three US head-stuck-way-up-your-ass policies Drug war: The study called drug prohibition "the most obvious" example of a head-stuck-way-up-your-ass policy that America exported worldwide using threats and coercion. Sound thinking people aside, the study found a very high percentage of America's morons, imbeciles, and even idiots understood why drug prohibition is utterly stupid (and clearly counterproductive). Nearly 98 percent of American idiots surveyed could easily explain why drug prohibition is an extreme waste of taxpayer money, why it causes vast suffering and death around the world (look at Mexico), and why it's guaranteed to perpetually fail (duh, maybe because it guarantees massive profits to anyone in the world who can produce and deliver these drugs?). Only assholes or complete assholes could believe a government policy that guarantees MASSIVE profits for any activity will result in less of that activity. Duh! America has spent more than a TRILLION tax dollars on the "drug war." Any idiot knows prohibited drugs are cheaper, purer, and more readily available than ever. Only assholes or complete assholes would expect a different result. But among America's voters, even the morons, imbeciles, and idiots are far outnumbered by assholes and complete assholes. Thus, the insanely stupid "drug war" continues unabated. Two-party political system OPENLY owned by big corporations The vast majority of Americans actually believe they get to choose their government "representatives." What assholes! They're simply too stupid to comprehend the two political parties collaborate to severely limit their choices to pre-chosen candidates who pledge to work within the extremely corrupt money-driven US political system. These imbeciles have no clue why both political parties continue to rob them blind year after year. Duh! The only "choice" these stupid Americans get is how they're going to get screwed (they can "choose" Democrats who will ram it deep in their left ear or "choose" Republicans who will drive it home in their right ear). The only real choice these American idiots get is which segment of the middle class gets screwed the most. Moronic Americans will soon flock to the polls shouting, "I'm tired of getting screwed in my left ear; I want to get screwed in my right ear for awhile." Americans sustain a blatantly corrupt political system and wonder why they always get screwed no matter who they "choose." Duh! Being a jerk, or utter halfwit, or even a moron or an imbecile, isn't enough. You have to be a complete asshole to think an extremely corrupt money-driven political system (with tens of thousands of high-paid lobbyists OPENLY buying political influence) could EVER produce a government that looks out for the best interests of the American people. America is clearly a nation of raving assholes! Duh! Insanely out-of-control US war machine In the last 10 years, "defense" contractors spent nearly a BILLION dollars openly buying political influence from so-called "representatives" of the American people. In return they got lucrative contracts worth hundreds of billions. But most Americans are WAY too stupid to see a connection between these obvious legal bribes and America's endless wars of aggression (and the overwhelming US military presence around the world). Duh! America now spends more on outrageously expensive weapons of war than all other countries on earth COMBINED! It spends hundreds of billions sustaining military bases in 63 foreign countries! It's by far the number one purveyor of weapons of mass destruction throughout the world (apparently, this is America's way of spreading peace and goodwill to all mankind). The US is about to sell Saudi Arabia $60 billion in weapons of mass destruction. What a great humanitarian gesture! It's sure to promote peace in the Middle East. Americans are very clearly the mental midgets of humanity. If that weren't enough, to maximize its war profits, America spends billions more supporting violently oppressive regimes around the globe (especially in Muslim-occupied countries). America very deliberately creates enemies faster than it can kill them (profits are obviously far more important than people). The study estimates America has about sixty million assholes and about forty million complete assholes. Among America's professions, mainstream media "journalists" had the highest percentage in both categories. Their job is to keep the American people in a zombie-like stupor (obviously they do a great job). If it scares you to think how incredibly stupid the average American is, just ponder the fact that half of them are even stupider! If brains were dynamite, Americans would have just about enough to tip their hats.

The US military's runaway blimp has been a multibillion-dollar boondoggle for years An unmanned 240 foot (75m) helium-filled blimp used by the US military to defend the east coast from cruise missiles and drones broke loose from its mooring today (Oct. 28) and drifted over Pennsylvania for hours before being brought to ground, according to local news reports. Local news station SECV 8 reported that a cable hanging from the blimp took down power lines in the area, leaving nearly 14,000 people without power. The blimp is part of a program called Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor System (JLENS). Billed as "the future of defense" by military contractor Raytheon, the 17-year-old JLENS project has become a costly and ineffective "zombie" program, which has proven impossible to kill because of intense lobbying, an LA Times investigation found: A 2012 report by the Pentagon's Operational Test and Evaluation office faulted the system in four "critical performance areas" and rated its reliability as "poor." A year later, in its most recent assessment, the agency again cited serious deficiencies and said JLENS had "low system reliability." Each JLENS blimp costs about $182 million, and the entire project has a pricetag of about $2.7 billion.

Nearly half of the 23 non-profit insurance plans created under Obamacare in 2011 at a cost of $2.4 billion have announced they will close by the end of the year. Utah's Arches Health Plan on Tuesday became the 10th health insurance co-op to announce that it was closing its doors. The move comes soon after the Obama administration's decision on Oct. 1 to provide just 12.6 percent of the $2.87 billion that insurers were seeking to offset losses caused by unexpectedly high coverage costs. That decision -- to decimate funding of a "risk corridor" program designed to reimburse insurers hammered by excessive losses due to a disproportionate share of very sick or elderly enrollees -- is triggering a mass exit of these co-ops from the market. With a new Affordable Care Act enrollment period beginning on Sunday, many of the co-ops on shaky financial ground must decide before then whether to remain in business or shut their doors. At least thus far, the Republican-controlled Congress has proven indifferent to their plight and officials in the Department of Health and Human Services have been unwilling to intervene. As a result it is likely that other co-ops will announce they are going out of business by the end of this week. GOP lawmakers say the only solution to the problem is to scrap Obamacare and start over. Even some senior Senate Democrats, including Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York - a state where more than 150,000 people will be losing their co-op insurance -- told The Fiscal Times last week that they were unaware of the crisis. Last Friday, Consumers' Choice Health Insurance Company in South Carolina announced that it, too, was going out of business - a decision that will send about 67,000 people and small businesses scrambling to find new health coverage. The eight other co-ops that have announced they were closing their doors are in Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Nevada, Tennessee and Oregon. The crisis was foreshadowed earlier this year when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which oversees Obamacare, issued warning letters to 11 of the co-ops, placing them under special scrutiny and requiring that they produce a plan of "corrective action." A report last July by the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services said that 21 of the 23 co-ops reviewed had incurred net losses between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 in 2014. Moreover, 19 of the 23 showed net financial losses because the claims they received exceeded premium revenue. "Most of the 23 CO-OPs we reviewed had not met their initial program enrollment and profitability projections as of December 31, 2014," the report stated. "The low enrollments and net losses might limit the ability of some CO-OPs to repay startup and solvency loans and remain viable and sustainable." http://ift.tt/1LEBBYd

The Federal Prosecutor's Office is currently overwhelmed with charges of high treason being filed. These accuse Angela Merkel of damaging the patrimony of Germany and altering the constitutional order through her refugee policy. Every day dozes of new charges are filed, now amounting to almost 400. The complaints will probably fail at the preliminary checking stage as the law says that "High treason" only applies when the perpetrator uses or threatens the use of violence. Although many of those filing the charges characterise the "flow of refugees" as a form of violence, legally this is obviously mistaken. Most likely the Federal Prosecutor's Office will not initiate formal investigation proceedings.(Source:http://ift.tt/1PSY3AS)

Vienna has said it will erect a barrier along its border with fellow EU member Slovenia. The Austrian interior minister says up to 8,000 migrants have been crossing daily. Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner said Wednesday that plans are underway to build a fence along the border with Slovenia to slow down the flow of migrants into the country. "This is about ensuring an orderly, controlled entry into our country, not about shutting down the border," Mikl-Leitner told Austria's public broadcaster, "O1. The conservative minister from the right-wing "OVP party added that the situation risked escalating as people were forced to wait in freezing temperatures for hours before being allowed to cross from one nation into another. "We know that in recent days and weeks individual groups of migrants have become more impatient, aggressive and emotional," she said. "If groups of people push from behind, with children and women stuck in-between, you need stable, massive measures." Earlier this week the minister had hinted that physical barriers would be necessary to help control the influx of migrants coming from the Balkans. "The situation here is especially dynamic. We've had between 3,000 and 8,000 people crossing the border ," she said. "But we also need to prepare ourselves to 12,000." Slovenia, which has a population of just two million, reiterated its warning that it is also considering building a fence if the newly announced EU plans aimed at tackling the crisis fail to produce quick results. More than 83,600 people have arrived in Slovenia since mid-October after Hungary shut its Croatian border with a razor-wire fence, Slovenian interior ministry officials said. "If the situation worsens and the Brussels action plan is not fulfilled, then Slovenia has several scenarios prepared, (including) the installation of a fence guarded by forces," Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec said. These warnings to erect barriers within the passport-free Schengen Zone comes as European Council President Donald Tusk warns that the refugee crisis - in which more than 700,000 migrants have arrived already this year -- shows no signs of slackening. "The situation will deteriorate even further," Tusk said, warning of a "new wave of refugees (arriving) from Aleppo and other Syrian regions under Russian bombardment." He said that the new challenges threaten the fabric of the European Union which has made economic and political integration - and passport-free travel - a hallmark of the European project. "I have no doubt that this challenge has the potential to change the European Union we have built," he told the European Parliament in Strasbourg. "And what is even more dangerous, it has the potential to create tectonic changes in the European political landscape. And these are not changes for the better." Meanwhile, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker criticized EU member states for providing less than half of the guards pledged to the Frontex border agency in migrant hotspots Greece and Italy. "Member states have been moving slowly at a time when they should be running," Juncker said. Of the estimated 775 border guards needed, EU countries have only provided 326 over the past month and many bloc members had also failed so far to keep their promises of financial support, he said. Many migrants are refugees fleeing conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. The UN refugee agency says the world is currently grappling with its worst refugee crisis since World War Two. 28 Oct 2015 http://tjy.ch.sl.pt

Portugal is set to swear in a new centre-right minority government on Friday, (October 30), but how long it will last remains to be seen. President Cavaco Silva has accepted the cabinet line-up, to be led by Pedro Passos Coelho, who was named prime minister last Thursday, (October 22). But although it won the most votes in the October 4 general election, Coelho's Portugal Ahead coalition lost its parliamentary majority. It now faces opposition from the left, particularly the Socialists, who have vowed to bring down the cabinet. The new government will have until November 9 to present a programme for its term in office. A confidence vote in parliament will follow, which has prompted the leftist parties to declare the government's days "numbered." Three parties have been negotiating a coalition in anticipation of the government's downfall. The Socialists, the Left Bloc and the Communists are likely to aim to form a majority government if Coelho and his cabinet fail. All three of the parties have called the naming of Coelho as prime minister "a waste of time."

COMMENT: Please find below a translation of an article that appeared in N24.de , a German news outlet, translated by "Dr. Google" with some minor corrections. I believe it is quite interesting with regard to the narrative that could spread in the months to come. Let's see .... much will depend on the progress on the ground. I found the sources of the "conclusions/facts" in the article, or better its complete lack thereof, very amusing ... which is not too surprising. In context with the sandstorm in Northern Homs/Southern Aleppo there is obviously some truth in it (ISIS success/less than expected Russian air strikes). We shall see ... However, other than the guys in the "operation rooms", probably even not them yet, nobody can say how things are progressing at the contact line overall. Especially given that we are only at the beginning of the initiation of hostilities under extremely different circumstances and the destruction of infrastructure will only have results on the front line at a much later stage. This is of course a problem in the "internet age" with hyperactive guys with agenda and hardly any useful education running the news ... ARTICLE: Massive Bombing and Hardly Successes / How Russia Fails in Syria Russia has been flying hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, but the balance of power did not change. Now elite soldiers shall prevent a complete disgrace. Day and night the Russian planes take off at the air base near the western Syrian Mediterranean city of Latakia. There are daily at least 40 sorties which are flown by 36 bombers and 20 attack helicopter alternately. About 800 targets they have been attacking in Syria, since Russia intervened on the side of President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war. This does cost the Kremlin around 100 million euros so far. With the iron fist of a military superpower Russia wanted as quickly as possible to clean up with the opponents of the Assad regime. But the Kremlin seems to have miscalculated. Nearly four weeks after the start of the offensive against the Syrian rebels on one side and the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) on the other side, success is on a modest scale. They are minimal compared to the magnitude of the military operations, and are only achieved against large losses. "50 centimeters land for profit lost 24 tanks and 250 soldiers" an officer of the Syrian army is said to have complained. Russia sends elite soldiers Since Friday, the opponents are on some fronts even on the offensive. In Aleppo, the Syrian army has been cut off from their single supply route. And that due to IS, that Russia did feed as a reason for its military intervention, which is however halfheartedly attacked by her . After the lack of success the Kremlin is getting impatient, thus special forces from Ukraine have been called from the Ukraine. These elite troops, which are comparable to the legendary American Delta Forces, shall turn the tide . The soldiers of the Syrian army had welcomed the beginning of the military intervention of their "Russian brothers" with enthusiasm on 30 September. Seven days later thousands of them have been sent to Latakia, Homs, Hama and Aleppo to the front. Despite Russian air support, the offensive of the Army is only crawling forward and could only conquer a few villages. American rockets destroying rows of tanks There are mainly BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missile American production, that are slowing the advance of government forces. With these weapons, the rebels have now destroyed more than 60 tanks and other armored vehicles of the army. And without adequate protection of tanks, each ground offensive is getting under pressure. A total of 39 so-called moderate rebel groups, examined by the Pentagon, are are listed on the schedule for TOW missile delivery. Previously, they were supplied by the CIA in secret commando operations. Today, Saudi Arabia, claims to have brought at least 500 of these missiles to the rebels since the beginning of the Russian intervention, is taking over. Previously this would not have been possible. The antitank system was at the direction of America's only available in a limited quantity and were released only after a long examination to a few rebel units. It was feared that such a powerful weapon could fall into the hands of radical Islamists. But with the intervention of Russia, these reservations appear to have dissipated. Russia accuses Syria's Army "incompetence" Are these TOW missile now the decisive factor in the war? The Russian military leadership does not think so. They blame the Syrian army.Their 'inability and lack of assertiveness "was the main reason for the lack of success. This became particularly clear in a conversation between a Russian and Syrian General that could be intercepted by the rebel group al-Izza Tajammu in Hama. "The Russian was completely mad about the mistakes and shortcomings of the army," said Raed Saleh, the spokesman for al-Izza Tajammu which are also among the beneficiaries of modern anti-tank missiles. The Syrian General had thereafter been relieved of his command. But it should not be forgotten here, Saleh stressed, that the conglomerate of the Free Syrian Army has shifted into action and the rules of the game have changed. "Instead of just to defend ourselves, we have gone on the offensive." Apparently the Syrians come up with insufficient information Due to military aspects it should actually be quite different. Because after more than three weeks of intense bombing, a ground offensive should have made rapid progress. Provided, however, that the right targets were hit. However, this does not seem to be the case. "We often do not have the slightest idea why the Russians do bomb this or that building, which are usually empty or inhabited by civilians," claimed a rebel commander from the city Jisr al-Schugur in the northwest of the country. There Russian drones did gather two, three days information before an attack. This was also observed in other Rebel areas. But these brief reconnaissance flights seem insufficient. And what about the "close cooperation with the Syrian military and intelligence" that has been extolled the Russian Defense Ministry? Obviously the Syrians deliver insufficient, incorrect or outdated information. Otherwise the effects of Russian jets on the ground would have much greater impact. This gap shall now be closed with the stationing of the Russian special forces from the Ukraine. They want to make the air strikes be more effectively and not no further let the money literally go up in smoke . There are the "green men," as they were called because of their unmarked uniforms on the Crimea, which are now in Syria. Among them is said to be the famous Zaslon unit, which is trained on the protection of diplomats and missions abroad. The Russian elite soldiers will accompany Syrian units on the front. However, the Russians are not in the first lines to fight there. They are so-called spotters, the scout enemy positions and pass the GPS coordinates to the fighters for an attack. However, by taking action, the risk does increase that Russian soldiers will be killed or captured. But the problem is likely seen equanimously, in the Kremlin. The main thing, the effectiveness of the bombing on the front, increases. And this is sorely needed for the ground offensive of the Syrian army. Russia(ns) could make a proper Charlie of themselves Russia must respond quickly. Otherwise the military intervention ends in disaster, even before it has really begun. With the targeted leadership in Syria and throughout the Middle East, it would be over. Instead, Russia would embarrass to the bone and would be only one of many "players" in the region. Russia's Syrian partners are little reliable. The incompetence of the army was visible in the south of Aleppo once again at the weekend. The terrorist group IS could from the east freely penetrate the single supply route of the regime. The extremists captured eight checkpoints and some places along the road to Aleppo. Thus the regime would be cut off in the former industrial metropolis. The counter-attack by government forces is already running. Without over land access all other ongoing military operations in Aleppo will sooner or later fail. In the city that is embattled three years already, Russia and Iran want to set an example. On several fronts at the same time they are pushing for a decision. The Syrian army is fighting together with Iranian soldiers of the Revolutionary Guards, auxiliary Shiite militias from Iraq and the Lebanese Hezbollah. In the southeast, they want to end the siege of the airbase Kweiris. In the north, SAA is pushing in the direction of the enclosed places Nubul and Zahraa. At the same time they trie to advance from the west in the city and cut off the last access to Aleppo from Turkey. Countless times it has been attempted in vain during the civil war. Now we it shall succeed finally, with all their might, with Iranian manpower and Russian bombs.

Canadian Cops Kill Dog That Video Shows Was Clearly Not a Threat Bad Cop, No Donut , Canada , Cop kills dog , PINAC News , PINAC News Top 3 , Police Abuse , Viral Videos 241 Comments A video surfaced today on Facebook showing Canadian police dragging a man out of a home when one of the officers walks up to a black dog wagging its tail in the grass and shoots it dead. Royal Canadian Mounted Police claimed the dog, Duke, had attacked one of their dogs. But the video, recorded by a screaming, distraught woman, shows that did not happen in the moments before it was shot. The video is recorded in the vertical mode and she is swinging the phone all over the place, so it does not capture the scene in its entirety. However, it shows that Duke was nowhere close to the group of cops dragging Adam Cote out of the house. And it shows it was not close to a nearby officer standing with a police dog on a leash nor does it appear interested in that dog. Nevertheless, a cop walks over with a rifle and shoots it dead. Apparently, Duke had attacked their dog when they were inside dragging Cote out of the house, but that incident was already over by the time they shot him. In other words, it was not a matter of defending their dog, but a matter of seeking revenge for their dog. The video was posted on a Facebook titled Justice for Adam Cote and has drawn attention from all over the world. Cote was dragged out of the home in July 2014 on two warrants for assault, one of the incidents which was also captured on video where he and another man were fighting in a street. According to an article posted last year on CKOM : Adam Cote was arrested Thursday after Kamsack RCMP and the Prince Albert RCMP Service Dog Unit went to a residence on the Key First Nation after reports that Cote was hiding in one of the homes. Cote was found in the home and arrested. Cote was hurt in the arrest and remains in hospital with unknown injuries. During the arrest a dog from the community was shot and killed by officers after it allegedly attacked a police dog. Cote was wanted on several charges including aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, break and enter, fail to attend Court and breach of undertaking. We combined part of the video of the fight with the video of the dog shooting into one video, which is posted below. The original video of the dog shooting can be viewed here . The original video of the fight has been removed from the Facebook page.

Economics School Teacher Shows that Socialism is Bound to Fail. Source: http://ift.tt/1P2ofYc Does Socialism Work? A Classroom Experiment November 16, 2011 by Dan Mitchell I posted a video making this point earlier in the year, and I also posted a version of this joke back in 2010, but here's another version that's worth sharing because of the five lessons to be learned at the conclusion. ================================= An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all). After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. It could not be any simpler than that. There are five morals to this story: 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. ================================= I'll make one final point. There are five morals to the story, but there are dozens of nations giving us real-world examples every day. Source: http://ift.tt/1P2ofYc

Posted by Alexander Hendrie on Friday, October 23rd, 2015, 2:06 PM PERMALINK Source: http://ift.tt/1i17Ciu Obamacare exchanges are failing to verify key enrollment information, according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). This new report is the latest in a long line finding that controls on federal and state Obamacare exchanges are abysmal. As part of its review, GAO tested application and enrollment controls on the federal exchange and two state exchanges (California and Kentucky). Ten fictitious applicants were created to test whether verification steps including validating an applicant's Social Security number, verifying citizenship, and verifying household income were completed properly. In order to test these controls, GAO's test applications provided fraudulent documentation: "For each of the 10 undercover applications where we obtained qualified health-plan coverage, the respective marketplace directed that our applicants submit supplementary documentation... we provided counterfeit follow-up documentation, such as fictitious Social Security cards with impossible Social Security numbers, for all 10 undercover applications." As the report notes, all ten applications remained enrolled on Obamacare even though fraudulent or insufficient documentation was provided: "For all 10 of these undercover applications, we maintained subsidized coverage beyond the period during which applicants may file supporting documentation to resolve inconsistencies." As a result, each applicant received the Obamacare premium tax credit and cost-sharing reduction subsidies, without being properly verified. The ten applicants received a total of $2,300 in tax credits per month. This is not the first time that watchdog groups have found Obamacare exchanges have failed to properly verify enrollment and eligibility. To hear Republicans tell it, a series of unfortunate events culminated in a rough day Thursday for the House Benghazi Committee, leaving conservatives to wonder if they've lost their most potent political weapon against Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton. Seven months after the panel revealed that Clinton used a private e mail server as secretary of state-a scoop that committee chairman Trey Gowdy repeatedly took credit for-bringing heaps of negative press to the Democratic presidential front-runner and a dip in her poll numbers, Clinton effectively turned the tables on her most nettlesome GOP inquisitors. During hours of testimony, Clinton deftly handled some hostile and at times pointed questioning from Republicans, keeping her cool and letting Democrats on the committee handle the political attacks. In the end, Republicans threw some red meat to their conservative base but failed to land a blow to Clinton's credibility or unearth a meaningful discovery about the 2012 attacks on a U.S. outpost that left four Americans dead in Libya. It wasn't just Clinton loyalists saying that. "A hearing that was once a threat has really become an opportunity for her," John Dean, a former White House counsel for Richard Nixon who is now a political independent, said on MSNBC hours into the hearing. "I think this is really Hillary's day. It's going to help her presidential campaign. As somebody who's been both a witness and a counsel, this is a textbook example of how to be a good witness." Among House Republicans, there were no high-fives: A half- dozen lawmakers surveyed offered a muted response when asked about the hearing on Thursday afternoon. Many conservative commentators were unimpressed, if not angry with the proceedings. "So a hearing billed as an epic, High Noon-style confrontation-granted, the hype came from the media, not Republican committee members themselves-instead turned out to be a somewhat interesting look at a few limited aspects of the Benghazi affair," wrote Byron York at the Washington Examiner. "In other words, no big deal. And that is very, very good news for Hillary Clinton." Conservative radio host Erick Erickson described the hearings as "a waste of time because everything about it is politicized and nothing is going to happen." "There will be no scalp collection," he wrote in a blog post, adding: "It was all a political spectacle. God bless Trey Gowdy for trying to learn the facts and understand what happened. But the rest of it was just a carnival road show of back bench congresscritters playing to the cameras and Hillary Clinton working hard to play persecuted victim." Erickson lamented that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's recent comments on Fox News bragging about the Benghazi committee's deleterious effect on Clinton's poll numbers "discredited this episode before it began in the minds of the press." McCarthy's remarks were followed by a second Republican congressman, New York's Richard Hanna, saying the panel was created "to go after people and an individual, Hillary Clinton." Meanwhile, a former Benghazi committee staffer says he's preparing to sue the panel for allegedly being fired because he didn't want to target Clinton. Days before the hearing, Republican Chairman Trey Gowdy told Politico that "these have been among the worst weeks of my life" and went on CBS to instruct his colleagues to "shut up" about the work of the committee, insisting it was about fact- finding and not politics. The hearing didn't provide much to boost his outlook. One exchange that drew digital eye-rolls featured Representative Mike Pompeo of Kansas grilling Clinton on whether former Ambassador Chris Stevens had similar "access" to her as her confidant Sid Blumenthal by way of private email, phone number and home address. This prompted a former U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, to tweet out a lesson in the way diplomats communicate. Usually Republican-friendly commentators were equally, if not more, unimpressed. Well-known conservative writer John Podhoretz, a former speechwriter for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, was even more withering. Another sign of the way political tides where turning: The Fox News Channel, which has taken a special interest in the issue of Benghazi in recent years, cut away from the hearing midway through while other networks continued to carry it live. Radio host Rush Limbaugh also sensed the ground shifting, telling listeners Thursday that the media had already decided that it wanted to "able to claim that the Republicans did not land a glove on Mrs. Clinton. That she showed up and that she looked good and that she was composed and that she triumphed over this, and the Republicans weren't able to do a thing about it. That is the objective." Her appearance is likely to give her a boost with the base, especially coming off from a strong performance after the first Democratic debate last week. Republicans weren't able to score any major hits and knock her off her feet, and Clinton showed she had the stamina to withstand the GOP attacks -- a fact that Republican lawmakers grudgingly seemed to acknowledge. Adding insult to injury, the Benghazi committee's chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina), was at a loss when asked by a reporter after the hearing about what new information the committee had gleaned from the proceedings. Gowdy didn't have an answer. "Uh, I think some of Jimmy Jordan's questioning," he said, referring to committee member and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). "Well, when you say 'new today,' we knew some of that already. We knew about the emails. In terms of testimony? I don't know that she testified that much differently today than she has in the previous times she's testified," Gowdy said.

Germany: Asylum Seekers Make Demands by Soeren Kern October 23, 2015 at 5:00 am http://ift.tt/1NqYm2o "Human traffickers and the media in their home countries are making promises that do not correspond to reality." - Hans-Joachim Ulrich, regional refugee coordinator. The migrants said they were angry they were being asked to sleep in a huge warehouse rather than in private apartments. Hamburg officials say there are no more vacant apartments in the city. "The city lied to us. We were shocked when we arrived here," said Syrian refugee Awad Arbaakeat. "One of the men, who spoke broken German, said they were not interested in viewing the property because I am a woman... I was taken aback. You want to help and then are sent away, unwanted in your own country." - Aline Kern, real estate agent. "A constitutional state cannot allow itself to be blackmailed." - Marcel Huber, Bavarian politician. "I man. You woman. I go first." - Muslim male with a full shopping cart at the supermarket. An asylum seeker from Somalia successfully sued the German Agency for Migration and Refugees for taking too long to process his application -- 16 months. The agency said it currently has a backlog of 250,000 unprocessed applications. Seventy percent of migrants from Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria who were offered apprenticeships fail to complete them. According to the director of the Munich Chamber of Trade, many young migrants believe apprenticeships are beneath them. Asylum seekers are increasingly using tactics such as hunger strikes, lawsuits and threats of violence in efforts to force German authorities to comply with an ever-growing list of demands. Many migrants, unhappy with living conditions in German refugee shelters, are demanding that they immediately be given their own homes or apartments. Others are angry that German bureaucrats are taking too long to process their asylum applications. Still others are upset over delays in obtaining social welfare payments. Although most asylum seekers in Germany have a roof over their head, and receive three hot meals a day, as well as free clothing and healthcare, many are demanding: more money, more comfortable beds, more hot water, more ethnic food, more recreational facilities, more privacy - and, of course, their own homes. Germany will receive as many as 1.5 million asylum seekers in 2015, including 920,000 in the last quarter of 2015 alone, according to government estimates. This figure is nearly double the previous estimate, from August, which was 800,000 for all of 2015. By comparison, Germany received 202,000 asylum seekers in all of 2014. With refugee shelters across the country already filled to capacity, and more than 10,000 new migrants entering Germany every day, Germany is straining to care for all the newcomers, many of whom are proving to be ungrateful and impatient guests. In Berlin, 20 asylum seekers sued the State Agency for Health and Social Welfare (Landesamt f"ur Gesundheit und Soziales, Lageso) in an effort to force local authorities to speed up their welfare payments. Berlin expects to receive 50,000 asylum seekers in 2015. German taxpayers will spend 600 million euros ($680 million) this year to pay for their upkeep. Also in Berlin, more than 40 migrants, mostly from Pakistan, seized control over the observation deck of the city's television tower and demanded stays of deportation, jobs, and exemptions from mandatory residence (Residenzpflicht), a legal requirement that asylum seekers reside within certain boundaries defined by local immigration authorities. More than 100 police were deployed to the tower to remove the protesters. After a brief questioning, they were set free. Police said no crime had been committed because the migrants had purchased tickets to the observation deck, some 200 meters (650 feet) above the Berlin. In the Kreuzberg district of Berlin, more than 400 migrants, mostly from Africa, occupied an abandoned school because they no longer wanted to live in tents in a nearby square. When 900 police arrived to clear the building, some migrants poured gasoline inside the structure and threatened to set themselves on fire, while others threatened to jump off the roof of the building. "We are currently negotiating with local authorities about how to proceed," a Sudanese migrant named Mohammed said. "We will not leave until our demands are met." In Dortmund, 125 migrants complained about the "catastrophic conditions" at the Br"ugmann sports facility, which now serves as a refugee shelter. The list of complaints included: bad food, uncomfortable beds and not enough showers. Just hours after arriving in Fuldatal, 40 asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria complained about conditions at a refugee shelter there and demanded that they be given their own homes. The regional refugee coordinator, Hans-Joachim Ulrich, said that migrants are coming to Germany with unrealistic expectations. "Human traffickers and the media in their home countries are making promises that do not correspond with reality," he said. In Hamburg, more than 70 asylum seekers went on a hunger strike in an effort to pressure local authorities to provide them with better housing. "We are on a hunger strike," said Syrian refugee Awad Arbaakeat. "The city lied to us. We were shocked when we arrived here." The migrants said they were angry they were being asked to sleep in a huge warehouse rather than in private apartments. Hamburg officials say there are no more vacant apartments in the city, the second-largest in Germany. Also in Hamburg, more than 100 migrants gathered in front of the city hall to protest the lack of heating in their tent shelters. City officials said they were caught off guard by the early frost and that all tents would have heating before the winter sets in. According to Hamburg Mayor Olaf Scholtz, some 3,600 migrants would be spending the coming winter in tents due to the lack of alternative housing in the city. According to Hamburg officials, 35,021 migrants arrived in the city during the first nine months of 2015. During this same period, Hamburg police were dispatched to the city's refugee shelters more than 1,000 times, including 81 times to break up mass brawls, 93 times to investigate physical and sexual assaults, and 28 times to prevent migrants from committing suicide. Meanwhile, a confidential document that was leaked to the German newspaper Bild reveals that the Hamburg transit authority (Hamburger Verkehrsverbund, HVV) has ordered ticket inspectors to "look the other way" whenever they encounter migrants who are using public transportation without a ticket. The move ostensibly aims to protect the HVV against "bad press." According to the leaked document, ticket inspectors should be lenient with asylum seekers because many migrants are "the victims of professional counterfeit ticket scammers" and many others have "barely comprehensible knowledge" of the HVV's tariff structure. The CDU's transportation expert, Dennis Thering, said the HVV's policy cannot be left unchallenged. "This 'look-the-other-way' policy must be withdrawn. In Hamburg there is the opportunity to purchase discounted HVV tickets, explicitly also for persons who receive benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act." Every newly arrived refugee receives 149 euros in pocket money every month. This includes 25.15 euros that have been earmarked for the purchase of transport tickets. In Halle, four security guards were injured when they tried to stop a mob of asylum seekers from Africa and Syria from entering the city's social welfare office before opening hours. The migrants, who were there to pick up their welfare payments, became angry when it appeared to them as though some migrants cut in front of the line. It later turned out that some migrants were there for other business, and thus were not required to stand in line. In Munich, 30 migrants went on a hunger strike to protest shared accommodations in refugee shelters. Two of the men were rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness. "A constitutional state cannot allow itself to be blackmailed," Bavarian politician Marcel Huber said. "We have zero tolerance for this action." In N"urnberg, six migrants from Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Iran went on a hunger strike to protest the rejection of their asylum applications. The men, who are living in a tent in downtown N"urnberg for several months, demanded to speak to local authorities. The asylum applications were rejected six years ago, but the men are still living in Germany. In Osnabr"uck, an asylum seeker from Somalia successfully sued the German Agency for Migration and Refugees (Bundesamt f"ur Migration und Fl"uchtlinge, BAMF) for taking too long to process his application. A judge ordered the BAMF to make a decision on his application within three months or provide him with financial compensation. The man said he had been waiting for 16 months to get an answer from the BAMF. In its defense, the BAMF said it currently has a backlog of 250,000 unprocessed applications, and this number is expected to skyrocket as more asylum seekers arrive in Germany. A spokesperson for the court said the ruling set a precedent, and that many more asylum seekers likely would file lawsuits against the BAMF in the near future. Groups of migrants across Germany have been launching hunger strikes, demanding more money, more comfortable beds, more hot water, more ethnic food, more recreational facilities, and their own homes. In Berlin (right), 900 police were needed to remove more than 400 migrants who had occupied an abandoned school. In Walldorf, a town in the state of Baden-W"urttemberg, a group of migrants demanded that local authorities immediately provide them with private apartments because they were tired of living in a refugee shelter with 200 other asylum seekers. The leader of the group, a 46-year-old refugee from Syria, said he expected more from Germany. It was high time for Germans to begin to "treat us like human beings," he said. Following up on the complaints, state and local authorities inspected the shelter and found that conditions there were "absolutely acceptable," with cubicles for privacy and plenty of food and clothing. In Wetzlar, a city in the state of Hesse, migrants threatened to go on a hunger strike in an effort to force local authorities to move them into permanent housing. Local authorities said they delays were due to a quarantine after several migrants were found to be infected with Hepatitis A. In Zweibr"ucken, 50 asylum seekers from Syria went on a hunger strike to protest the slow pace of the application approval process. "We can accept the living conditions in the refugee camp, but we need hope," one of the men said. Local officials said the process has collapsed because of the large number of applicants. Asylum seekers have also gone on hunger strikes in Birkenfeld, B"ohlen, Gelsenkirchen, Hannover, Walheim, and Wittenberg. Meanwhile, teachers at Gemeinschaftsschule St. J"urgen, a grade school in the northern German city of L"ubeck, ordered eighth graders to spend a morning at a local refugee shelter and "actively help" the migrants by making their beds, sorting their clothing and working in the kitchen. Some parents complained that their children are also being asked to bring gifts and food for the migrants, who are already receiving handouts financed by German taxpayers. A woman wrote: "Sometimes I do not even know how I am going to put food on my own table." Another woman wrote: "This is going too far. Students are supposed to make beds and do cleaning work at a refugee shelter. My friend's 14-year-old son is being asked to do this!!! I am not an agitator and I am tolerant, but this is going way too far. Is there now a new course in L"ubeck schools called: Slavery??? The school's principal, Stefan Pabst, said the negative reaction was a "catastrophe." He said that having the children work in a refugee shelter was the best way for them to "understand social behavior." The German newsmagazine, Stern, complained that the dissenting parents belong to "rightwing circles" and are "spreading their stupid slogans." In Bad Kreuznach, a family of asylum seekers from Syria made an appointment to view a four-room rental property but refused to see the house because the real estate agent was female. According to real estate agent Aline Kern: "One of the men, who spoke broken German, said they were not interested in viewing the property because I am a woman, I am blonde, and because I looked the men into their eyes. This was inappropriate. My company should send a man to show the property. "I was taken aback. You want to help and then are sent away, unwanted in your own country." In Idar-Oberstein, a town in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, an imam at a refugee shelter refused to shake the hand of Julia Kl"ockner, a visiting dignitary, because she is a woman. After Kl"ockner, the vice-chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), shared her experience with the German newsmagazine Focus, she received more than 800 emails from women across the country describing how they, too, have been mistreated by Muslim migrants.h Kl"ockner is now calling for Germany to pass a new law that requires migrants and refugees to integrate into German society. She said: "We need an integration law. We are a liberal and free country. If we give up the foundations of our liberality, we will wake up in a different country." Kl"ockner insists that migrants must be informed about German "rules of the game" from the first day they arrive in the country. "The people who want to stay here must, from the first day, accept and learn that in this country religions coexist peacefully and that we cannot use force to resolve conflicts," she said. One woman described how Muslim men repeatedly cut in front of her at the supermarket checkout line. "Twice while shopping at a German supermarket I was shown that I am a second-class citizen," she wrote. In one instance, an adult Muslim male with a full shopping cart cut in front of her. In broken German he said: "I man. You woman. I go first." In another instance, a young Muslim male elbowed the woman while cutting in front of her. "When I said that I would let him go ahead of me if he asked me for permission, I was instructed by his sister that boys do not need to ask, they just demand." A teacher at a vocational school wrote: "The most problematic students are Muslim males, who do not acknowledge the authority of female teachers and who disrupt the classes." A mother reported that during a visit to her daughter's school, she approached a fully-veiled female refugee and asked her if she could be of help to her. "A man with a fancy suit and a three-day beard, he seemed like out of a Hugo Boss fashion magazine, said: 'My wife does not speak the language of the unclean.' When I asked him who here was unclean, he said I was. I asked him what that means. He said it was nothing against me personally, because all German women are unclean, and that his wife should not speak the language of the unclean, so that she can remain clean." In Berlin, more than 150 migrant youths from North Africa and Eastern Europe are occupied as full-time purse-snatchers and pick-pockets. Also known as the klau-kids (thief kids), they post their gains (smart phones, laptops, designer sunglasses) on the Internet, presumably to taunt the police. A 16-year-old known as Ismat O. has been detained more than 20 times on suspicion of theft, but each time he has been released. Walid K. has been arrested more than 10 times, and also freed. According to the director of Berlin's police union, Bodo Pfalzgraf, "it is incomprehensible that such serial offenders do not remain in pre-trial detention." Police say the youths are released because German judges are not prepared to issue arrested warrants for so-called petty crimes such as purse-snatching. Meanwhile, youths can only be deported if they have been sentenced to at least three years in prison. In Bavaria, the Munich Chamber of Trade (Handwerkskammer M"unchen und Oberbayern) reported that 70% of migrants from Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria who have been offered apprenticeships fail to complete them. The normal dropout rate is 25%. According to the director of the chamber, Lothar Semper, many young migrants believe apprenticeships are beneath them. "We have to make a tremendous effort to convince young people that they should even begin an apprenticeship," he said. "Many have the expectation of quickly earning a lot of money in Germany." Soeren Kern is a Senior Fellow at the New York-based Gatestone Institute. He is also Senior Fellow for European Politics at the Madrid-based Grupo de Estudios Estrat'egicos / Strategic Studies Group. LJUBLJANA/DOBOVA, Slovenia - Slovenia said it will consider all options, including fencing off its border with Croatia, if European leaders fail to agree a common approach to the migrant crisis as thousands stream into the ex-Yugoslav republic. Migrants began crossing into Slovenia last Saturday after Hungary closed its border with Croatia. The Slovenian Interior Ministry said that a total of 50,400 had entered the country since Saturday, and some 10,300 are at the moment in the tiny country. "We can not receive so many refugees in such a small period of time..It's just unbearable," Prime Minister Miro Cerar told reporters outside a refugee camp in Dobova. Late on Thursday evening when asked if there was the possibility of building a fence on the border, Cerar told Slovenian state TV: "We are considering also those options." Several European leaders are due to meet in Brussels on Sunday under the auspices of the European Commission to discuss the latest developments in the migrant crisis, Europe's biggest since World War. Hundreds of thousands of people fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East, Asia and Africa have reached Europe this year, with hundreds losing their lives in risky voyages across the Mediterranean. Most are trying to reach Germany and other rich countries. Croatia began directing migrants into Slovenia, which is part of the European Union's open border Schengen Area, after Hungary closed its borders. But bottlenecks have built up along new routes and border crossing points in the Balkans, and aid workers fear the humanitarian crisis will deepen as winter weather sets in. Slovenia has asked for the EU for assistance and officials said Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland offered to send police reinforcements. 'I WANT THIS TO COME TO AN END' A Reuters cameraman said about 3,000 people broke the fence at the border crossing at Sentilj and walked in to Austria on Friday morning. Larisa, 30, from the Syrian town of Aleppo held her arms her nine-month old son from as she waited in a field outside the small town of Rigonce, near the border crossing with Croatia, to be escorted to the camp. From the camp she will go to Austria. "I can't put my baby away even for a second. It's cold and he can't stop crying," she said. "I only want this to come to an end." On Friday, Serbian Interior Minister and his Croatian counterpart agreed to speed up the transit of refugees from Serbia to Croatia. Trains will be taking migrants four times a day from the Serbian town of Sid, straight to the Croatian town of Slavonski Brod, where a new camp will be open within days. At the moment refugees walk through orchards from Serbia in to Croatia and thousands get stuck in no man's land overnight as temperatures approach freezing levels. "We have agreed to stop this torture due to cold and everything else," Croatian Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said. In Austria, a police spokesman in Styria province said a few thousand people had crossed into Austria from Slovenia on Friday morning. "Some people are walking on train tracks and roads, causing traffic disruptions. Several hundred people had to sleep outdoors last night," he said. 23 Oct 2015 http://tjc.zz.sl.pt

BBC's Attempts at Muddling and Obfuscation: BBC mentions all the ongoing conflicts around Aleppo.....ISIS vs Jaysh al Fatah (conveniently called "rebels") in north of Aleppo, SAA vs Jaysh al Fatah in Aleppo City and its southern fringes, but fail to mention the SAA vs ISIS in the EAST! When they do, its hidden somewhere in the middle between layers of text. Since it has been statistically proven time and again that most people stop reading an article after the first few paragraphs (very few read the whole page, and fewer still read the entire article), not a word did the BBC write mentioning the SAA offensive to lift the siege of the Kuweires Airport. It did list all the other ongoing clashes in the Aleppo area, however. Did the BBC blatantly omit factual information to mislead the reader into playing into their false narratives? 1. Russia said it would only attack ISIS. - False as Lavrov EXPLICITLY stated "ISIL, Nusra, and other terrorist groups". 2. "Rebels" of Jaysh al Fatah are not salafist extremists and comprise some imaginary group of "moderates". 3. SAA and ISIS are somehow friendly to each other or, at the very least, refrain from attacking each other. Also look at the attempt by BBC to correlate two tenuously related variables: The BBC claims that most residents of Rebel-held Aleppo have fled to Govt. held areas because daily bombardments are not as heavy there! Right! But I thought people wanted freedom? Or is security more important for them now? Or maybe the people dont want to live under the oppression that Salafascism brings with it? But the "Rebels" are supposed to be such "moderate" peaceful democrats. And a "huge flood" of refugees will pour into Turkey? But didn't the BBC just admit that the rebel-held Aleppo is depopulated with people preferring to move to Govt-held areas? And Turkey has a refugee problem? Sure, but how about counting the numbers of IDP's (Internally Displaced People) to give a more complete picture of the problem? But they don't count as "refugees" according to the UN, so technically the BBC is correct, even while befuddling its readership. If anything, if counted on a purely per capita basis, the Syrian Government is bearing the brunt of the "refugee" problem and doing so without international support. Coming on the heels of the CNN justification of school massacres in Russia, what more could be expected? Syrian government troops press in around its southern edge with the help of intensive Russian air strikes, militants from the self-styled Islamic State (IS) gain new ground on the city's northern approaches and regime and rebel forces battle it out daily in the battered streets of the divided city itself. Whether the series of ground offensives recently unleashed by the Syrian army will lead to a drive to regain control of Aleppo itself is the kind of issue that President Assad will have discussed with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, during his surprise visit to Moscow on Tuesday. For the moment, most attention is focused on a belt of villages around 10 miles south of the city. That's where regime forces began another offensive last week, pushing into areas held by an array of non-IS rebel groups as Russian jets carried out a flurry of attacks to prepare the way. Supply linesPanic-stricken civilians fled their homes in a string of villages as Syrian troops battled forward and bombs and missiles exploded around them. Estimates for the number of displaced vary, with the UN saying 35,000 left that area and other sources giving much higher figures. But most of the Syrian army's offensives seem to be aimed at securing its own supply lines - along the main arterial highway linking Damascus to Aleppo via Homs and Hama, rather than making spectacular thrusts deep into rebel-held territory. The goal so far appears to be to improve the limits of the areas under regime control - the main cities and the coastal belt - and make them more defensible. The Russian intervention has made that possible. But there is a limit to what air power can achieve - as the Americans and their allies are experiencing both in Syria and Iraq - in the absence of cohesive, effective and motivated ground forces. Russian jets can't compensate for President Assad's basic problem - a dearth of fighting manpower. Shia militias, such as the Lebanese Hezbollah and even the reported deployment of some Iranian Revolutionary Guards, can only go so far in making up the deficiency. "The Russian move has allowed the regime to go on the offensive and made some limited gains possible, but it hasn't turned the tide in terms of winning the war," said Yezid Sayigh, senior analyst at the Carnegie Middle East Centre. For Aleppo the city, this means that a major offensive to drive the rebels out of the eastern quarters where they are entrenched seems unlikely in the coming weeks and even months. Many residents from the rebel-held districts have moved to government-controlled parts of town, where daily bombardments are less heavy. The city had a pre-war population of well over two million. Many of them have already fled, especially from the large Armenian Christian minority. But the possibility of a major attack on the city had raised fears in nearby Turkey of another huge flood of refugees pouring across the border. Blockaded garrisonRather than an all-out offensive by either side for control of the city, hostilities are likely to continue and intensify in the surrounding area. In addition to the campaign to control the villages and main highway to the south, government forces have launched a concerted drive to relieve their embattled garrison at the Kuweiris military airbase, roughly 20 miles to the east of Aleppo. The troops there have been blockaded for months by militants from IS, who control a stretch of territory to the north and east, and are trying to press further around the northern side of the city against rebel groups there, threatening their lifelines to the Turkish border. The battle for Kuweiris is one of the few areas where government forces are directly engaged in combat with IS, giving some validation to Russia's claim that it is striking those militants. The bulk of the air strikes are against the array of other rebel groups, many of them Islamist and some western-backed, which were mounting a real threat to the regime. For President Assad to reconquer the whole country he would need far more help on the ground than his Russian and Iranian allies are likely to offer. So the current campaign seems designed to fortify his grip on the "useful" parts of Syria and strengthen the position of the regime and its backers in future negotiations.
