Mesquite, TX - On January 12th, 2016 at about 2:30 am a black male entered the 7-11 convenience store located at 1428 Oates Drive. The Man exhibited a handgun and forced the clerk behind the counter, making him empty the cash from two registers into a sack. The suspect demanded access to the safe and struck the clerk when he could not provide access. The clerk fought back against the assault and eventually managed to gain control of the suspect's handgun. After a lengthy struggle the suspect managed to free himself and ran into the neighborhood behind the store. The clerk reported superficial cuts and bruising from the incident but none required immediate medical attention. Suspect description: Black-Male, Mid 20's, 5'10" tall, 150-175 lbs., black hair, wearing a black hoody, black sweat pants, red sweat shirt, carrying a white plastic bag.
