An uncle tom is a name given to people who sold out their principles for whatever was offered to them. And no one fits that name better than the president of Turkey, Recep Erdogan. He claims to be a champion of Turkey's democratic principles while 'reintroducing' the country to its 'islamic traditions'. No. He is simply a bitch boy who is using Turkey, its people and its armed forces for his own personal benefit while turning a blind eye to the democratic principles he claims to be defending. This is utter bullshit because if he were upholding the secular democratic principles of the country, why the fuck is he associating himself with slime like isis? isis is not interested in Turkey's freedom and independence, it wants to destroy it and bring Turkey into the fold of the satanic nightmare the world knows as the islamic state, which is as manufactured as both Syria and Iraq were when France and the UK partitioned the decaying Ottoman Empire. However, it was Mustafa Kamal who built Turkey out of the rubble of the decaying empire and its bureaucracy and laid the cornerstones and foundations for it become a developed and productive member of the global community. When the military- the TRUE guardians of Turkey's values- stepped back, it did so in the hopes that a responsible government could be formed and help not only redevelop Turkey's democratic process, but also help foster the path in which was supposed to bring Turkey closer to becoming a member of the EU. Erdogan's continued infectious festoon in leadership is not only pulling Turkey away from any kind of partnership with the EU, but also risks its continued membership in NATO and as a responsible member of the international community. Erdogan was responsible for closing the door to the US when it wanted to use its bases in Turkey as the northern corridor into Iraq during the invasion. He gained tremendous popularity in keeping Turkey out of the widely unpopular war. However, he fucked and continues to fuck Turkey as he continued to allow Turkey to be the main conduit of men, weapons, supplies and money going into the fabricated state that is more fictitious than Erdogan's desire to enter into a partnership instead with the army of criminals, butchers and terrorists who use Turkey as the main gateway into what is now known as hell on earth. His demented reasoning for cooperating with isis, which started when the US initially created the group to tip the balance of the Syrian civil war in addition to punishing Iraq for developing closer ties with Iran and for kicking out the US military who wanted to use Iraq to contain the spreading influence of iran (the same Cold War strategy of surrounding a nation with allies and squeezing the nation until it bends to the will and interests of the US, which was done on the Soviet Union and was attempted on Cuba and Venezuela with failing results). However, the Frankenstein monster Washington created (similar to the creation of Al Qaeda, Hamas and the Taliban) is now unchained and mutating uncontrollably threatening every region of the world in its global struggle to dominate the world. The US took a tiny step back from its overt support for the group and instead brokered deals with isis to buy its oil and to turn a blind eye to the funneling of material, manpower and funds that help sustain the monster. Erdogan is one of the maniacal leaders who continues to support the terror group for a number of personal reasons and the interests of his political party. Sadly, one of the sacrifices Erdogan is foregoing is the voice of the people. The protests in Istanbul has proven to him that his policies are not universally supported even in his own country. He continues his support for isis not because it is fighting the Kurds in the northern Levant, but to guarantee his own political survival. He is counting on isis to provide fighters in case he was threatened with a coup like the one in Egypt where the pro-US military overthrew its first democratically elected, but heavily influenced government ran and supported by the muslim brotherhood. He believes that if he can build connections with the group early enough, he could call upon them to help him and his supporters regain control of the government and fight or execute any opposition to his rule. The point is, the democratic principles Turkey holds dear are of no consequence to Erdogan and his supporters. Another substantial reason for his continued support for isis is their fight against the Kurds and as long as isis fights them in both Syria and Iraq, he would continue to give them an open channel Yet he is flagrantly disregarding the policies and overall legacy of Turkey's founder, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk. Ataturk created the foundation of Turkey's secularism that has been imitated by other arab/muslim nations yet fail. Contrary to what the so-called 'turks' on this board say, Ataturk was fervantly anti-religious when it came to government. The main reason he smashed the caliphate was because of the backwardness and stubborn refusal of the influential islamic court of the Ottoman Empire to change. The policies Ataturk wrote and enforced kept islam where it was supposed to bel limited to the confines of the mosques and within the homes of those who CHOSE to adhere to this backward religion- which was the same view Ataturk had about islam. He preferred the Turkish people make their own personal decisions on how to live and knew that if islam were to take hold in Turkey, it would severely restrict the lives of the Turkish public. To me, Ataturk is one of the rare leaders I've read about when I was young and who I can find parallels with George Washington, a fellow former general who led the nation out of chaotic times. When Turks spout out islamic rhetoric and solidarity with both muslims and arabs while holding portraits of Ataturk, they are shitting on the memory and legacy of a great man who despised islam. Ataturk was fiercely anti-islamic and any use of his legacy to support islamic roles in government are insulting the name of Ataturk and are going against the democratic values of the Republic. islam has NO place in Turkish society and any person who calls themselves a Turk yet supports isis and islamic militancy are no more than 'uncle toms; to islam and becoming lackeys for the gulf states. The people of Turkey need to make a choice; are they muslim or are they Turks. If they associate themselves with islam, they have no right to call themselves Turks and a true Turkish person is loyal and patriotic to the nation of Turkey and respectful of the memory of its founding father and in following Ataturk's philosophy, would push islam back into the mosques and out of the lives of its people and the policies of its government. To the Turks on this board, ask yourselves; Am I a Turk or am I a muslim because a truly patriotic Turkish citizen would not force others in Turkey to adopt islam. The choice is yours and I hope you make the RIGHT choice.
