Barely eight hours after posting my new class on Skillshare.com, I got this email: "Hi Leonid, We noticed that you recently published an incomplete class to Skillshare that does not adhere to our Class Guidelines . We've hidden the class on the site so that it is not discoverable by students browsing Skillshare. If you decided to update your class, please reply to this email to let us know. At that time, we'll gladly take another look and make it public on the site as long as it adheres to our Class Guidelines. I also noticed that your introductory video has no audio. Typically, the classes that do best cover creative skills with real-world applications. All classes have a project assignment, which means that teachers provide students with a fun and challenging project that'll help them apply the skills they've learned in class. The project assignm Please let us know if you have any questions." So what do you think? Was this at all called for?? For reference, here's the original description under my new class: In this class you will learng ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, from basic things like eating a sandwitch, to more advanced topics like multivariate frobenius-compatible surfaces. And everything in between. In between two pieces of bread, that is! But seriously, there will be very intense preparation & bombardment with formulae. If you cannot keep up, do not sign-up for the class, and don't you later beg us to withdraw with a 'w' grade. Retakes will not be accepted!! You only get one life...don't waste it on this. Now I know this is a very ambitious and serious undertaking - covering all aspect of solitary life. However, I seriously like to be ambitious, and my motto is, apparently: "If you are not going to try to do a little of everything, then don't you try to do nothing at all, okay?" Otherwise, why you trying to do something anyway? You know?? So please excuse me if I fail at my first attempt here to instruct a "class of all classes", one covering every single topic. But look at it this way - in this class I don't get to fail you. Instead you, my students, get to fail me. Big time. And the final project description: Class Project: Students will literally "make a living", so to speak. The goal is to live as possible. First, a word of caution: the Final Project is purely optional. ( That warning is for the Asians out there..lol just kidding! :) With this in mind: Upload any or every single output and/or byproduct of you living a life. Feel free to get creative (kids!) Painting, origami, sculpting, student loans, oil painting, sculpting, sudoku, salad-tossing...let your minds roam free...ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE RIGOROUSLY REVIEWED BY PROFFESOR, AND MUST BE KEPT UNDER 3 MINUTES LONG...We have freaking lives to live too, you know... Thank you!
