A snake show staged for tourists visiting Mae Sa Snake Farm in Mae Rim saw the reptiles thrown around and have their heads crushed into the ground, Tuesday. Snake handlers could be seen throwing and hitting the snakes in the head during several performances, aimed at entertaining the multiple tourists visiting the facilities. Usually used as an attraction for tourists, several cases of cruelty towards snakes have been reported. Thailand's Animal Welfare Act was passed into law in November 2014, and is the country's first piece of legislation to punish people who neglect or fail to adequately take care of animals.
