http://ift.tt/1cUMp4n http://ift.tt/1cR11BM from the bad-on-multiple-levels dept We've been following the saga of Cindy Garcia for quite some time now. She appeared in the now infamous YouTube film "Innocence of Muslims" that attracted worldwide attention after it was blamed for various riots and fatwas from extremist Muslims, because the horribly scripted, produced and acted film is clearly insulting to the religion. While the video had been out for months prior to the controversy, once it started generating so much attention, Garcia tried pretty much every trick in the book to make the movie disappear. She sued both the producer and YouTube in California state court. That failed. Then she moved on to federal court, where she claimed that the movie violated her copyright , an argument that is and has always been laughable. We assumed, naturally, it would fail quickly -- and it did. However, she and her lawyers kept arguing , and in a somewhat shocking -- and incredibly troubling -- move, the 9th Circuit appeals court has ruled in her favor , in a ruling written by Judge Alex Kozinski. We've written about Kozinski plenty of times in the past. He's one of our (and many court watchers') favorite judges for his willingness to speak in a straightforward manner and his similar proclivity to make jokes and poke fun at himself. While we often do agree with him, in the cases where we don't , we often find his reasoning truly perplexing, and that is absolutely true in this case. Kozinski seems to tie himself up in a whole variety of questionable knots to find that (a) Garcia has a copyright interest in the film and (b) Google should be forced to take down every instance of the film. The ruling creates massive problems both for basic copyright law and the First Amendment. And it's actually a case where -- believe it or not -- Google and the MPAA might even be on the same side once Google likely asks both the 9th Circuit to review and/or the Supreme Court to consider the case as well. A ruling that would put both Google and the MPAA on the same side of a copyright issue? Yes, that's going to be a strange ruling indeed. The key issue is that Garcia claims her performance is independently copyrightable from the film. This claim is preposterous. No film has ever worked that way, where the actors could make a claim to a separate copyright for each performance. In fact, just a couple years ago, a bunch of countries signed a new treaty to give actors a kind of copyright-like right in their roles in certain cases , which more or less explicitly recognizes that actors do not get to copyright their own performance. Furthermore, as far as I know, the US hasn't done anything to implement the details of that Beijing Treaty (nor has it even ratified it ), so it's not like any of those new rights should apply yet, and it doesn't appear that Kozinski relied on any of them anyway. Instead, Kozinski goes through a detailed explanation for how each actor in a film may be able to claim some sort of copyright in their own performance, because of the creative elements they add to it. An actor's performance, when fixed, is copyrightable if it evinces "some minimal degree of creativity . . . 'no matter how crude, humble or obvious' it might be." .... That is true whether the actor speaks, is dubbed over or, like Buster Keaton, performs without any words at all. Cf. 17 U.S.C. SS 102(a)(4) (noting "pantomimes and choreographic works" are eligible for copyright protection). It's clear that Garcia's performance meets these minimum requirements. Aalmuhammed isn't to the contrary because it does not, as the dissent would have it, "articulate general principles of authorship." Dissent 25. Aalmuhammed only discusses what is required for a contributor to a work to assert joint ownership over the entire work: "We hold that authorship is required under the statutory definition of a joint work, and that authorship is not the same thing as making a valuable and copyrightable contribution." ... Aalmuhammed plainly contemplates that an individual can make a "copyrightable contribution" and yet not become a joint author of the whole work. Id. For example, the author of a single poem does not necessarily become a co-author of the anthology in which the poem is published. It makes sense to impose heightened requirements on those who would leverage their individual contribution into ownership of a greater whole, but those requirements don't apply to the copyrightability of all creative works, for which only a "minimal creative spark required by the Copyright Act and the Constitution." This doesn't mean that Garcia owns a copyright interest in the entire scene: She can claim copyright in her own contribution but not in "preexisting material" such as the words or actions spelled out in the underlying script. 17 U.S.C. SS 103(b);.... Garcia may assert a copyright interest only in the portion of "Innocence of Muslims" that represents her individual creativity, but even if her contribution is relatively minor, it isn't de minimis.... We need not and do not decide whether every actor has a copyright in his performance within a movie. It suffices for now to hold that, while the matter is fairly debatable, Garcia is likely to prevail. However, as the dissenting opinion points out, this is hogwash. Actors don't have any copyright interest in their performance and that's clear from the law and this history of copyright: Congress has listed examples of copyrightable works, like architectural works, motion pictures, literary works, and pictorial or sculptural works. Id. The nature of these works is significantly different from an actress's individual performance in a film, casting doubt on the conclusion that the latter can constitute a work.... Section 101 of the Act is also instructive, because it differentiates a work from the performance of it. It defines "perform a 'work'" to mean "to recite, render, play, dance or act it." 17 U.S.C. SS 101 (emphasis added). Given this provision, it is difficult to understand how Congress intended to extend copyright protection to this acting performance. While Congress distinguishes the performance from the work itself, the majority blurs this line. Its position contemplates something very different from amalgamating independently copyrightable interests into a derivative work. See id. at SS 103(b). Consistent with section 101, section 102(b) outlines that which is not given copyright protection. It states: "In no case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such work." An acting performance resembles the "procedure" or "process" by which "an original work" is performed. Id. Therefore, "n no case does copyright protection" extend to an acting performance, "regardless of the form in which it is described, illustrated, or embodied in" the original work. Kozinski then argues that Garcia's performance doesn't qualify as a work made for hire (which does seem slightly bizarre, but the work made for hire rules are fairly specific and might not apply here). However, even here, Kozinski makes a troubling statement that may be a dangerous precedent. In arguing that the nutty guy behind the film, Mark Basseley Youssef, is not "in the business of film making," Kozinski states: There's nothing in the record to suggest that Youssef was in the "regular business" of making films.... He'd held many jobs, but there's no indication he ever worked in the film industry. And there's no evidence he had any union contracts, relationships with prop houses or other film suppliers, leases of studio space or distribution agreements. The dissent would hold that Youssef was in the "regular business" of filmmaking simply because he made "Innocence of Muslims." But if shooting a single amateur film amounts to the regular business of filmmaking, every schmuck with a videocamera becomes a movie mogul. Except, um, no. In an era where people can come from nowhere and make amazing films -- then, yes, "every schmuck with a videocamera" can be "in the business of making films." There is nothing in copyright law that says you have to be a "movie mogul" to qualify, and it's troubling both that Kozinski implies that only "movie moguls" get to make use of the works made for hire doctrine and that small independent first-time filmmakers not entrenched in Hollywood somehow have fewer rights. As for the "implied license" that Garcia gave to Youssef by performing in his film, Kozinski makes yet another highly problematic argument, that because Youssef changed her performance, it went outside the license. Even after admitting that such a ruling would be problematic in that it "could allow an actor to force the film's author to re-edit the film--in violation of the author's exclusive right to prepare derivative works" or that "the actor could prevent the film's author from exercising his exclusive right to show the work to the public," Kozinski still seems to think that Garcia can do exactly that in this case, because the film turned out to be quite different from what Garcia was told it would be. Garcia was told she'd be acting in an adventure film set in ancient Arabia. Were she now to complain that the film has a different title, that its historical depictions are inaccurate, that her scene is poorly edited or that the quality of the film isn't as she'd imagined, she wouldn't have a viable claim that her implied license had been exceeded. But the license Garcia granted Youssef wasn't so broad as to cover the use of her performance in any project. Here, the problem isn't that "Innocence of Muslims" is not an Arabian adventure movie: It's that the film isn't intended to entertain at all. The film differs so radically from anything Garcia could have imagined when she was cast that it can't possibly be authorized by any implied license she granted Youssef. While he notes this situation "will be extraordinarily rare," you can pretty much bet that plenty of actors who are later upset with how a director/editor handle their performance in films will cite this ruling in the inevitable lawsuits. This ruling is going to lead to a ton of really ridiculous lawsuits from actors upset about how a filmmaker portrays them in a final cut of a film. The next problematic argument is that, given all of this, Garcia still needs to show irreparable harm from keeping the video up. And yes, as Kozinski notes, death threats do seem like a form of irreparable harm. But, the "harm" has to result from the infringement since it's a copyright claim that she's bringing. Kozinski is somehow convinced that's the case, though his explanation doesn't seem to actually provide any explanation. Despite her understandable focus on the threats against her life, Garcia has brought a copyright action. Therefore, she needs to show that the harm she alleges is causally related to the infringement of her copyright. She's made such a showing. Youssef's unauthorized inclusion of her performance in "Innocence of Muslims" undisputedly led to the threats against Garcia. That seems like a huge stretch, and one totally unrelated to the copyright issue, again setting a dangerous precedent for future copyright abuses. Then there's the simple fact that taking the film off YouTube now doesn't seem likely to stop people from (a) knowing the film exists or (b) knowing that Garcia was in it. Yet, Kozinski again seems to find this argument compelling. Garcia has shown that removing the film from YouTube will help disassociate her from the film's anti-Islamic message and that such disassociation will keep her from suffering future threats and physical harm. Although Google asserts that the film is so widespread that removing it from YouTube will have no effect, it has provided no evidence to support this point. Taking down the film from YouTube will remove it from a prominent online platform-the platform on which it was first displayed-and will curb the harms of which Garcia complains. On to the basic First Amendment issue. As the dissent points out, even given all of this, ordering Google to pull down the entire video is classic prior restraint. But Kozinski brushes that aside by arguing that it's okay because this is copyright infringement. The problem with Google's position is that it rests entirely on the assertion that Garcia's proposed injunction is an unconstitutional prior restraint of speech. But the First Amendment doesn't protect copyright infringement. The dissent points out that Kozinski is wrong, in part because the court never even rules that there is copyright infringement going on here, just that Garcia may have a copyright interest in her acting performance (something the dissent disagrees with entirely). But even if we accept Kozinski's interpretation, just because Garcia may have a copyright interest, no infringement has yet been shown, and thus issuing the takedown is prior restraint in violation of the First Amendment. If all of this wasn't troubling enough, Kozinski made things even worse. He not only issued the order a week ago to Google to remove all copies of the video (and prevent any future uploads -- hello prior restraint...) but also issued a gag order forbidding anyone to talk about this until today, once the order was out. In other words, not only did the court order the film censored, but it put a gag order on anyone revealing that the film had been censored, which raises yet another First Amendment issue, which hopefully Google will appeal. Google, Inc. shall take down all copies of "Innocence of Muslims" from YouTube.com and from any other platforms under Google's control, and take all reasonable steps to prevent further uploads of "Innocence of Muslims" to those platforms. Google shall comply with this order within twenty-four hours of the issuance thereof. Neither the parties nor counsel shall disclose this order, except as necessary to the takedown process, until the opinion in this case issues. This order will remain in effect until such time as the district court enters a preliminary injunction consistent with our opinion. Almost everything about Kozinski's ruling here is troubling. The copyright interpretation just seems very far out of bounds with just about everything having to do with copyright law. It will create tremendous problems for the film industry. The First Amendment implications of both the takedown and the gag order are similarly troubling. Hopefully, either the full 9th Circuit will rethink this issue, or the Supreme Court will take an appeal and set the 9th Circuit straight.

Published: 26 Feb 2014 10:01 GMT+01:00 Updated: 26 Feb 2014 14:04 GMT+01:00A proposed minimum wage of 22 francs an hour ($24.80) would have a damaging effect on Switzerland's job market, says Swiss economics minister Johann Schneider-Ammann, as voters prepare to decide. Schneider-Ammann launched a campaign on Tuesday objecting to the proposal, which will be put to Swiss voters in a referendum on May 18th. Switzerland does not currently have a national minimum wage. The UK's current minimum hourly wage is lb6.31 ($10.55), while Germany recently agreed a EUR8.50 ($11.69) minimum from 2017. The current US rate is $7.25. Speaking at a media conference reported by Reuters, Schneider-Ammann said: "The government is convinced it would be wrong for the state to impose a nationwide wage." "A minimum wage of 4,000 francs could lead to job cuts and even threaten the existence of smaller companies, notably in retail, catering, agriculture and housekeeping." "If jobs are being cut, the weakest suffer most," he said. In an interview with newspaper Tribune de Gen`eve, Philippe Leuba, economics minister for canton Vaud, agreed. Bringing in a minimum wage would compound the problems created by the recent anti-immigration yes vote, he said. "Don't forget that one franc in two is earned through exports. Our standard of living depends on our ability to export and if we fail to maintain relations with the EU there will be considerable difficulties for the economy, for salaries, for jobs and for apprenticeships. So let's not multiply our mistakes by saying yes to a minimum wage." In November, Neuch^atel became the first Swiss canton to propose a minimum wage of 20 francs ($21.75), to come into effect in 2015, after residents voted to accept the principle.

There are a lot of arguments about whether communism, socialism, and liberalism are the same thing. What shouldn't be arguable is that they're all closely related branches of the same tree. If you don't want to live in a house made out of Aleppo Pine, you probably won't like a Coulter Pine or Eastern White Pine house either. However, since socialism has failed so often, socialists of every stripe bend over backwards to disassociate themselves from the many other disasters created by their ideology. Still, a pine by any other name is still a pine. Socialism is particularly dangerous because it's so perfectly suited for the modern era. It's the ultimate "miracle" product: it's "nice," it's "fair," it'll make you feel good about yourself, it'll "help" people who "deserve it" by taking things away from people who "have so much" they'll barely miss it. It sounds wonderful, doesn't it? But, like most products with sleazy salesmen and hidden track records, the promises socialism makes are all a mirage. Since our schools do a terrible job of teaching history and economics these days, it's our job to explain how socialism slowly, insidiously eats away at the core of a society. 1) It kills economic growth: Strong economic growth is what produces jobs, tax revenue and a better standard of living for everyone, including the poor and middle class. That's what John F. Kennedy was driving at when he said, "A rising tide (in the economy) lifts all boats." Socialism strangles economic growth in the crib by penalizing success and rewarding failure. When you loot the successful people in a society to give it to the less successful, you quite naturally reduce the number of successful people and encourage more people to fail. This leads to a never-ending cycle. The more people in need there are, the more the successful must be penalized to pay for them. The more the successful are penalized, the fewer successful people there are. This causes wealth to concentrate in fewer hands, the economy slows down, and even more people need help. It goes on and on until you get a slow economy that can't produce enough tax revenue to sustain itself. That's exactly what killed the Soviet Union, it's killing Greece right now and sadly, the United States and most of Western Europe is on exactly the same path. 2) It stifles free speech: Why is there ridiculous government propaganda in nations like North Korea? Why are most schools, papers, and colleges run by liberals in the United States? Why do liberals often try to disrupt conservative speakers on college campuses? Why are there such extreme speech codes in Canada that it practically makes some conservative arguments illegal? Why does speaking out against the government risk imprisonment in China and the old Soviet Union? Because socialism requires protection, propaganda, intimidation, and darkness to survive. Socialism can't survive honest, informed debate about its merits among people who are free to choose or reject it because it would not survive the conversation. As Reagan said, "How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin." 3) It leads to an increasingly tyrannical government: Freedom and socialism go together like oil and water. The more socialism you have, the less freedom you will have because socialism can't survive if people are free to choose whether they want socialism or not. People who are free to say what they want will criticize socialism's many failures. Areas that aren't tightly controlled will move towards the free exchange of ideas and goods, not socialism. So, socialism requires a massive bureaucracy that almost inevitably grows. As government grows, it inevitably becomes more centralized, more distant from the people and ultimately more menacing. 4) It creates strife and division: Socialism is all about turning people against each other. It has to be. After all, if you believe in controlling people's lives, the people who don't wish to be controlled need to be vilified. If you believe in confiscating the wealth of successful people who won't give it up willingly, then others must be convinced they're terrible human beings who deserve to be punished. "Victim" classes must be created for the socialists to defend because if everyone is responsible for himself, what need is there for the socialist? Eventually, those who depend on government for their livelihood and those that the government smears and loots to pay them off come to hate each other. 5) Socialists believe the ends justify the means: Like the pigs in Orwell's Animal Farm , socialists believe that, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." For a socialist, the overriding concern is always promoting socialism; so process, rules and regulation mean different things for different people. Fidel Castro may have been the leader of a Communist revolution against the evil "rich people" in Cuba, but he's worth 900 million dollars today. A law broken by a Democrat and a Republican may be treated very differently by the papers, the courts, and even the Department of Justice under Eric Holder. As Margaret Thatcher explained, "Left-wing zealots have often been prepared to ride roughshod over due process and basic considerations of fairness when they think they can get away with it. For them the ends always seems to justify the means. That is precisely how their predecessors came to create the gulag." One of the reasons so many socialist nations are wracked with violent protests and revolutions is because when the rule of law is abandoned, only outlaws have any hope of receiving justice. http://ift.tt/1pvjCIY

So in no particular order, here we go. 1) Helping the poor Talk about supporting policies that basically do the opposite. Right now, thanks to extra funding the 2009 stimulus had given our SNAP program (aka "food stamps") running out, millions of Americans are set to have their benefits cut this month-right before the holidays. Republicans could have extended them, but they chose not to. Not only that, but they're pushing for an additional $39 billion in cuts to the program. All while pushing for more tax breaks for the rich and big corporations. Add this on top of many Republican-controlled states refusing to expand Medicaid under "Obamacare" - denying the expansion of health care to millions of poor Americans - and they're not only cutting food benefits for the poor, but health care benefits as well. This list could honestly keep going on and on. It seems that whenever Republicans need to make cuts, the first people they go after are the poorest among us. 2) Not judging others Another big swing and a miss for Republicans on this one. There's the famous example of Jesus Christ defending a woman set to be stoned to death for committing adultery by asking those who were there if any of them were free of sin, let them cast the first stone. I summarized the quote of course, but the general point behind it is that we're all sinners and it's not our place to judge someone else for their indiscretions because we're all flawed. Well, Republicans judge everyone. Basically, if you're not a straight, white, church going male-you're judged. Hell, some of the most vile, hateful, ignorant judgement I've ever witnessed came from those who attended church frequently. It seems high church attendance gives these people the feeling that they're superior to others because they sit in a building and listen to someone tell them what is and isn't acceptable. I'm sure you know these types of people. The alcoholic, been divorced three times with four kids by three different partners, angry, hateful, judgmental individual who goes around telling others what is morally right and wrong while making excuses for their own indiscretions in life. The Republican party seemingly builds their entire social platform based on judging anyone and everyone who isn't just like they are. 3) Being hopeful Honestly, Republicans are some of the most paranoid, fearful, angry people I run across. Liberals might really dislike certain politicians (such as my disdain for Ted Cruz), but conservatives hate President Obama. It's a deep-seated, vile hatred the likes of which I've rarely seen. Their entire party predicates itself on this perpetual notion that their values are constantly under attack and that at any moment everything they care about in life can be gone. But then isn't that the best way to keep people in check-through fear? Fear can be paralyzing. Honestly, fear is probably the most powerful emotion. It can render people to such a state of mental instability that all rational thought and logic fly right out the window. Which, for Republicans, is a great thing. Conservatives are almost constantly fearful of the future. As long as I've been alive, it seems they're always in this state of mind that someone, or something, is out to get them. Liberals are evil. The government is evil. Muslims are evil. Homosexuals are evil. President Obama is evil. You get the picture. 4) Acceptance This one kind of ties into the whole "not judging" thing Republicans constantly fail at. But it's one thing to not judge someone - it's quite another to actually accept someone who's very different from yourself. This is why I dismiss much of the "giving at church" that conservatives often use as evidence of their generosity and giving. Sure, many conservatives give a great deal of money to their churches. But guess what? Many of them do so because they're told that's what they need to do to stay in the good graces of God. Then when you look at the churches these people attend, they're simply filled with people just like them. It's a lot easier to give your money to people who reflect exactly who you are. But that doesn't mean you're being generous or giving. Especially when you're giving out of obligation to your religion, not an unwavering generosity and willingness to help. But conservatives rarely accept anyone different from themselves. Take President Obama for example. We elected our first black president in 2008. But, for many conservatives, we elected a foreign born, Muslim brotherhood supporting antichrist. And don't tell me his race has nothing to do with it. If President Obama were white, Republicans still probably wouldn't like him, but the blind hatred wouldn't be near as intense. One almost constant calling card of conservatives is resistance to change, not the acceptance of it. Their social ideology seems decades behind most of the civilized world. Doubt me? Feel free to head to any small town in rural Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana or Georgia. You'd think you were back in the 1950s the way many of these people think. 5) Helping those who can't help themselves This one kind of ties together all four of the previous. Jesus Christ didn't ask those who sought his help why they needed help, he just helped them. Republicans build an ideology that's essentially based on "survival of the fittest." Get as much as you can, nearly any way you can, and if others can't keep up-that's their problem. The way they build their system of beliefs is completely contradictory to Jesus Christ. If someone fell down, before they lent a hand, they'd ask why they were on the ground instead of just helping them up. To them, helping that person out equates to "socialism." Even though its readily apparent that the vast majority of conservatives don't even know the definition of "socialism," though they love to use the word frequently. From: http://ift.tt/1dAEYwc

The US will be pulling out all its troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year if Washington and Kabul fail to sign a bilateral security agreement. The US president has asked the Pentagon to make preparations for the withdrawal in case the deal with Afghanistan is not signed. Barack Obama has also spoken to his Afghan counterpart about the withdrawal plan, and said that Washington is still open to finalizing the agreement. Hamid Karzai has so far refused to sign the controversial deal over major differences with Washington. The two sides are still at odds on some of the terms, including immunity for American troops and their attacks on Afghan villages and homes.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, In the new voice recording, Erdogan and his son Bilal allegedly discuss during five wiretapped phone conversations on plans how to hide huge sums of cash on the day when police raided a number of venues as part of a corruption investigation that has implicated sons of three Turkish ministers, businessmen and chief of the state bank. At the beginning of the phone conversation, the prime minister briefs his son Bilal about the raid and asks him to "zero" the amount (at least $1 billion cash) stashed at five houses. The authenticity of the recordings has not been verified. Hakan Fidan, undersecretary of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) was immediately called in prime ministry. Prime ministry office was also published an immediate response, claiming the recording to be a "defile montage" and they will press charges. After an emergency meeting, Turkish main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has said the Turkish government has lost its legitimacy and called on Turkish Prime Minister to resign immediately after Erdogan's voice recording surfaced online. Translation: RTE = Recep Tayyip Erdogan(Prime Minester of Turkey) BE = Bilal Erdogan(PM's Son) RTE: Are you home son? Bilal E(son): Yes father RTE: Now! This morning made an operation. Ali Agaoglu, Reza Zerrab, Erdogan's son, Zafer's son, Muammer's son, etc.. All their houses are being searched now. BE: Tell again, daddy RTE: I'm saying that Muammer's son, Zafer's son, Erdogan's son, Ali Agaoglu, Reza Zerrab etc they are searching the houses of 18 people under a big corruption operation thing. BE: yes RTE: OK? Now, what I say is, you take everything that you have in the house out. OK? BE: What can I have on me dad! There is your money in the safe RTE: That's what I am saying. Now, I am sending your sister. OK? BE: You are sending who? RTE: Your sister, I'm saying. BE: Eh, OK RTE: Then,... She has that information, OK. Talk with your big brother BE: Yes RTE: On him,,, Let's do..., talk with your uncle too, he should also take out, also talk to your uncle, he should also... BE: What should we do with these daddy, where should we put them? RTE: To specific places, to some specific places... do it (A woman's voice on background saying "Berat") BE: Berat also has some RTE: That's what I am saying. Now, get together, go get your uncle, I don't know if Uncle Ziya has some, OK? Also immediately your brother Burak too. NE: OK father. You mean Sumeyye, I mean take out, Sumeyye will tell me where to take them? RTE: Yes, fine. C'mon now, do think about yours among yourselves with your uncle, etc NE: on what to do? RTE: Yes, yes, let's contact fast, until 10.00. Because the issue is... NE: OK father RTE: OK? Keep in touch NE: OK daddy 2nd call 11.17 NE: Father, We got together with Brother Hasan etc. Brother Berat, my uncle, we are together, thinking about it. Berat has another idea. He says that let's give some of it to Faruk for the other "business/thing" so he can process them like the previous ones. Shall we do it, we can solve a big amount with this. RTE: That may be NE: OK. For the other part, because we started a business partnership with Mehmet Gur, we thought of giving it to him saying "keep it, as the projects come you can use from that. This way, we will be able to dissolve and move the rest to somewhere else. RTE: OK, fine, as long as you do... NE: OK RTE: Did Sumeyye arrive? NE: She arrived home, she'll now come here. OK daddy, we will sort this out today, inshallah (with God's permission). Anything else? RTE: It would be good if you do... If you can dissolve them all. BE: Yes, we will dissolve them all, inshallah 3rd call 15.39 RTE: Did you do the other tasks I gave you? BE: We will finish them in the evening. We sorted some out; We sorted the Berat part, now we will first handle the part with Mehmet Gur and the rest, we will do that when it gets dark. RTE:.... BE: Inshallah RTE: What did Sumeyye do? BE: She took them out, brought, we talked, etc. RTE: Did she sort both sides? BE: I think so daddy, she said she emptied both. RTE: Both sides BE: Yes, she said both of them, but you mean this by saying both sides, right? RTE: Whatever. OK, fine BE: What time will you arrive? RTE: About 12 BE: Have a safe journey RTE: Do not talk on the phone 4th call 23.15 BE: Hi daddy, I am calling to... we did mostly. Eee, did you call me daddy? RTE: No I did not, you called me BE: I was called from a secret number RTE: By saying mostly, did you fully dissolve it BE: We did not zeroized it yet daddy. Let me explain.. We still have a 30 million euros that we could not yet dissolve. Berat thought of something.. There was an additional 25 million dollars that Ahmet Calik should receive. They say let's give this there. When the money comes, we do , they say. And with the remaining money we can buy a flat from Sehrizar, he says. What do you say, father? RTE: .... (background soun: Ayyy) BE: Daddy RTE: Is Sumeyye with you? BE: Yes with me, should I call her? RTE: No, there was another sound, that's why I asked BE: Umm.. I mean, he can transfer 35 million dollars to Calik and buy a flat from Sherizar with the remaining. RTE: Whatever, we will sort it BE: Should we do it like this? RTE: OK do it BE: Do you want them all dissolved father, or do you want some money for yourself RTE: No, it cannot stay, son. You could transfer that to the other, with Mehmet you could transfer it there... BE: Yes, we gave to them. We gave 20 to them RTE: For God's sake, first you should've transferred you could then do... BE: we were able to give this much for now, it is hard already, it takes too much space. We are putting some of it to another place, we gave part of it to Tunc, and then... RTE: did you transfer all to Tunc? BE: (Sumeyye, can you come) Where, father? RTE: To Tunc, I say, did you transfer all to Tunc? BE: They asked, I guess he said that he could take 10 million euros. RTE: Whatever. Do not talk this like this on this. BE: OK, then, we will sort it as such RTE: Ok do it. I am not able to come tonight, I will stay in Ankara BE:OK, we are sorting it out. You do not worry 5th call 18.12.2013 10.58 RTE. I wondered if everything is fine, so I called BE: No, nothing. We finished the tasks you gave us, with the help of the God RTE: Is it all zeroed? BE: Fully, I mean saying zeroed, how should I put it? I had Samandira and Maltepe's money, 730.000 USD and 300.000 TL. I will handle these too. We owe 1 million TL to Faruk Isik (AKP MP); I will give those to him and tell him to transfer the rest to the academy. RTE: Do not talk openly BE: Should't I talk? RTE: Do not talk, OK? BE: OK daddy RTE: I mean, do not keep anything on you, whatever it is Samandira or whatever... Send it to where it needs to be, where do you keep it? BE: OK daddy, but I think currently we are under surveillance RTE: What have I been telling to you since the very beginning! BE: But is it the bodyguard team? Who is following us father? RTE: Son, you are being tapped BE: But they are also visually monitoring, they say RTE: That may be true. Now, we did some things (meaning intervention) in Istanbul security Source: http://ift.tt/1i6Iody

Sorry for the earlier posting of this it is now fixed. So we made a last minute trip to the range today. Set up a 150 meter steel 8x8 inch plate hanging from a homemade stand. I used a Springfield XD .45 and the last video was a Beretta 9mm. I stood on the wrong side of my wife and she was sitting in a chair. the brass went right down her shirt.....oops. In about a few weeks when i get back from the east coast we will travel to the 300 meter area and set up the steel target for that. My wife and I are both great with rifles, we are just now getting interested in handguns. So enjoy the videos and sorry for earlier. Also corrected is the .45. I called it a Smith and Wesson in the earlier post. I called my friend who owns the weapon and it is a Springfiled XD .45

Building Demolition Goes Wrong

Monday, February 24, 2014

The Palestinian use of lies and disinformation has been well known for many years but, in recent days it has reached new heights, the likes of which we have not seen before. The false reports published in the Palestinian media, or by their spokespeople in the international media, have a double purpose: on the one hand, to delegitimize Israel and, on the other hand, to distract world attention from the Palestinian Authority's deep involvement in terrorism. The Palestinian collection of lies is particularly disturbing in light of the well-known phenomenon that when a lie is repeated often enough it becomes the truth, even if it has no basis. Even more disturbing is the willingness of the international media to serve as the instrument for publicizing the Palestinian claims, without checking their veracity and knowing that in many cases they are without foundation. The denials, if they are published later, receive much less publicity; by then, the damage has been done. Below are a few examples of fabrications disseminated by the Palestinians Denying Jewish connection to the Land of Israel According to a statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Information, December 10, 1997: 'There is no tangible evidence of any Jewish traces/remains in the old city of Jerusalem and its immediate vicinity' (). 'The Al-Buraq Wall and its plaza are a Muslim religious property ? part if the Al Aqsa Mosque. The Jews have no relation to it' (Arafat-appointed Mufti of Jerusalem, Al Ayyam , November 22, 1997). 'The Al-Buraq wall is Muslim property and it is part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque' (Arafat's Minister of Religious Affairs, Hassan Tahboob, Interview with Israeli Jews Agency IMRA, November 22, 1997) 'That is not the Western Wall at all, but a Moslem shrine' (Arafat, Ma'ariv, Oct. 11, 1996). 'All the events surrounding Kings Saul, David and Rehoboam occured in Yeman, and no Hebrew remnants were found in Israel, for a very simple reason -because they were never there' (Arab historian Jarid al-Kidwa, on PLO education program, June 1997 (quoted in Ha'aretz, July 6, 1997). 'Jerusalem is not a Jewish city, despite the Biblical myth implanted in some minds ? There is no tangible evidence of Jewish existence from the so-called 'Temple Mount Era' ? The location of the Temple Mount is in question ? it might be in Jericho or somewhere else' (Walid Awad, Director of Foreign Publications for the PLO's Ministry of Information, interviewed by the IMRA news agency, Dec. 25, 1996). 'Abraham was neither Jewish nor a Hebrew, but was simply an Iraqi. The Jews have no right to claim part of the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, Abraham's resting place, as a synagogue. Rather, the whole building should be a mosque' (Arafat, quoted in the Jerusalem Report, Dec. 26, 1996). The "massacre" lie Almost every battle wherein terrorists are killed, is called a "massacre". Jibril Rajoub (March 30, on MAHAD TV, a local television station in Ramallah) accused Israel of carrying out a "massacre," executing 30 Palestinians in Ramallah. The announcement was also broadcast on Al Jazeera and other stations. The reality, of course, is different: in battles which took place on that day in Ramallah, 9 Palestinians were killed - all of them armed. The "wanted terrorists are innocent civilians" lie Jibril Rajoub claimed, in an interview with Syrian television network ANN on March 30, that the only people in the compound of the Preventive Security Services in Betouniya were people working for the service, women and civilians, and that there were no wanted terrorists there. The truth, of course, is somewhat different. On April 2, a number of wanted terrorists were captured in the building, including senior members of Hamas involved in many terrorist activities. The "attack on ambulances" lie On the WAFA Internet site, it was reported on April 2 by the Palestinian Minister of Health, Riyad Al Zanoun, that the IDF had taken control of five Palestinian ambulances in Ramallah, forced their teams to strip, and taken them to an unknown site, in order to prevent them from treating the wounded. In reality, ever since an explosive belt was discovered in a Palestinian ambulance underneath a stretcher on which a small child was lying (end of March, at the A-Ram check post), the IDF has been forced to act with extreme caution. A similar charge, incidentally, was made on April 5 by Al Kuds newspaper, which reported that a Red Crescent ambulance was seized in El Bireh, and that IDF soldiers attacked its driver and the paramedics traveling with him. No such incident has ever taken place. The "attack on international aid workers" lie In an interview with Abu Dhabi television on March 29, Arafat claimed that "there was also that incident in Hebron, that insolent and criminal incident; they even attacked and killed in the Hebron area three members of the international force: two from Turkey and one of the nurses from Switzerland." In fact, in the incident in question, one of the Turkish members of the force was rescued, and he said, in a radio interview, that the attack was carried out by an uniformed Palestinian. The "systematic torture of prisoners" lie The Al Kuds newspaper reported on April 5 that the prisoners in Ofer Camp, near Givat Ze'ev, undergo torture, including breaking their fingers. This allegation too has no basis. Accusing Israel when terrorist actions fail Two examples: The WAFA news agency reported on April 6 that a person named Ali Mustafa Abu Razek, aged 30, was shot and killed by the IDF close to the Sufa Crossing. In fact, Abu Razek was a terrorist who was trying to place an explosive device and was blown up together with the device. The WAFA agency reported on April 5 that the IDF shelled the Um Nasser neighborhood, the Al Udeh towers and the residential areas near the Salah a Din road in the northern Gaza Strip. The reality was somewhat different - the mortar shells were fired by the Palestinians themselves, but landed in their own territory. The "forging of documents" lie On April 5 Nabil Sha'ath claimed in the Saudi 'Okaz' that Israel had forged the document seized from Arafat's office in Ramallah indicating that the Palestinian Authority was funding the Al Aksa Martyrs Brigade. The document is of course authentic, and in the meantime other documents have been found indicating the involvement of the Palestinian Authority and of Arafat in terrorism and in its funding. The "Jenin massacre" lie The most famous Palestinian lie of the year 2002 (up till now!) is no doubt that on the number of Palestinian casualties as a result of the fighting in the Jenin refugee camp during Operation Defensive Shield. After the capture of the Jenin refugee camp in April 2002, Palestinians claimed a massacre had occurred in in the camp, with up to 3000 deaths. Also Arafat's Chief Liar Saeb Erekat accused Israel of a "massacre" and published the number of 520 deaths , a lie happily repeated by the media. Israel claimed that about 52 Palestinians were killed, of whom the majority were terrorists. Afterwards, independent teams of the United Nations, Human Right Watch, Cordaid and Amnesty International confirmed the Israeli estimations and concluded that no massacre had taken place. The UN reported that the number of Palestinian fatalities can be estimated at around 55. Of those, a number were civilians, four were women and two children. This did not prevent BBC and CNN to continue repeating these claims. Organizing fake funerals Pictures have been taken by remote cameras of Palestinians organizing fake "funerals" in preparation for the UN committee's visit to Jenin. It is not difficult to guess how the UN committee's conclusions could have been influenced by these lies.

Epic Hare Escapes Golden Eagle

By: jironde on: 11:08 AM
This is my first post on LiveLeak! It's a report I made for my Junior English class about the following prompt: In his Fox News hour, "Myths, Lies, and Complete Stupidity," John Stossel takes a critical look at food regulations designed to encourage people to make healthier food choices. Should it be government's job to try to keep people healthy? Why or why not? I know the topic isn't as gripping as Syria or other things, but I want to get out into the LiveLeak world with something that I hope is worth your time. Thank you and happy Leaking! The government should not be involved in making the population healthy. If you give them an inch they will take a mile. What will they regulate next if people let them regulate their food and beverages? Many other countries have tried to regulate fat and sugar intake. Denmark even imposed a Fat Tax that would tax a purchase if it had too much fat! The result of the Fat Tax was a complete failure. Many went out of country to purchase their food and people would smuggle the food into Denmark. The Fat Tax was later repealed because of this (Essay Contest Video). Does the United States of America have an obesity problem? Yes we do. 37.5% of adults and 17% of children ages 2 to 19 are obese according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. We also have a huge Diabetes problem. Right now 26 million Americans are affected by Diabetes and by 2020, nearly half of all Americans will have Diabetes (Hawks)! With these numbers it's no wonder why people think the government needs to step in and help us, right? The truth is that The United States is spending more money on health care than any other country! In 2012, The United States was spending $8,000 per person at 17.4% GDP with a life expectancy of 78 years. Compared to Norway, that is almost twice the amount they spend annually. Norway was spending $5,300 per person at 9.6% GPD with a life expectancy of 81 years (Hawks). In 2010, 35.9% of American adults were Obese and 10% of Norwegian adults were obese. So does spending more money and regulating food and drinks mean that obesity rates go down? The numbers do not reflect that belief. Why does the government want to ban big drinks and limit our sugar intake when there are more dangerous ingredients in food? They want to regulate natural ingredients but fail to realize that 80% of all processed food made in the United States are banned in other nations! Most recently was the azodicarbonamide found in the bread of many fast food chains such as Subway and Chick-fil-A. This same chemical is used in yoga mats and the souls of shoes. Not surprisingly this is banned in the European Union and Australia. So why did the FDA approve of this chemical? They know it's bad for you but if you ingest a small amount of it (no more than 0.0045% the weight of flour) it's not as bad for you for some reason (Landau). The European Union has banned Bovine Growth Hormones, Chlorinated Chickens, Borminated Vegetable Oil found in Gatorade (Mukerjee), and plan on banning various food dyes including Yellow #5, Blue #5, Red #40, and others soon (Lepisto). The United States has not banned any of these ingredients. Then there is High Fructose Corn Syrup. HFCS is one of the most used ingredients and is used as a substitute for sugar. Both sugar and HFCS are bad for your health, but is one worse than the other? "A Princeton University research team has demonstrated that all sweeteners are not equal when it comes to weight gain: Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same. In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides. The researchers say the work sheds light on the factors contributing to obesity trends in the United States (Laskawy)." It's that simple. High Fructose Corn Syrup led to obesity. The reason why I've singled out HFCS is because of how much it is used. From 1980 to the 2000s the US increased its production of HFCS from 2.2 million tons to 9.2 million tons (Roan). Not surprisingly when you search for a line graph showing the US Obesity rates from 1980-2012 there is a huge jump from 1980 to present day (Kenworthy)! In summary, the United States spends the most money for healthcare while having the highest amount of obesity and diabetes. We also use more High Fructose Corn Syrup than anyone else and 80% of our processed foods are banned around the world. We use ingredients that cause weight gain and some even cause tumor growth such as BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) which is found in gum, butter, cereals, and snack foods. (Renouard). Is the problem our sugar intake or our High Fructose Corn Syrup intake? If the government wants to start making us "healthier" then they should ban many articfial ingredients and eliminate the subsidies and tariffs on sugar imports. The government has jacked the price of sugar up so much that it's no wonder why companies are switching to HFCS, and here's the real shocker, the USA is the fifth largest producer of sugar in the world! (Euteneuer). Why should we let a government that placed a tariff and subsidy on sugar control how much sugar we consume? Americans are paying twice the amount for sugar compared to the rest of the world (Perry)! It's hypocritical and we shouldn't let the government get more power. It's a scam and it's all about money. It's not about your health. Works Cited "Adult Overweight and Obesity." Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 27 Apr. 2012. Bunch of guys try to shoot down two Apaches using RPGs and HMG fire. Get engaged and last bit of video shows one of them kinda messed up. It's assumed that some of these guys got smoked and the injured guy must have played dead and waited for his friends to come pick him up.

A journalist embedded with "Taliban" fighters in Logar Province follows along as they attempt a raid on an ANA compound. The group is of unknown size, but I counted eight in the frame at one time plus the camera man makes at least nine. They are outfitted with LMGs, a recoilless rifle, multiple RPGs, and they are hand carrying a DShK heavy machine gun on a tripod mount. They use ICOM radios for primary comms, but later use a cell phone. They supposedly have three SBIEDs that will attempt to breach the compound's walls. The Op started off promising, but quickly turns into a clown show. A seperate sister element gets into contact prematurely, and the heavy machine gun team cannot put the weapon system into action. The SBIEDs have no chance of making it to the fortifications because of standoff distance with no covered approach, so they withdrawal. The DShK is finally put into action as ANA reinforcements arrive, and it's time to retreat. The Taliban commander claims that two of his men were killed.

Taliban Fail

You know... No matter what you do, it all comes down to whether the person at the top likes you or not. You could following procedures that are stamped out in black and white, yet if there is a person who doesn't like you who is part of the procedure, all the work you did or do doesn't mean anything. However, it comes to my family, the scum then takes on a whole new level and the level of suffering is extended to those around you.. I will not talk about that now because I am so pissed off. But here is the ironic part- when I make a comment, because I write something that is not favorable to people, they lash out at me for going against 'their norms'. To them, I will say that as part of the logical search for the truth, you need to keep your mind open and get both sides of the story. A good example of that is a video clip I saw of two protesters who were asked what the protest was about and why they were there. They simply looked each other and shrugged their shoulders and replied that they didn't know. So..how can a person take part in a protest or demonstration if they don't know what it was for. I also understand the concept of joining a protest in solidarity of the protesters and their message. Now, here and in many other places, people throw around terms like 'Zionist' and such. They are angry and have tons of animosity toward them, yet when you ask them, a lot of times they reply a with the same manufactured response that proponents use for their argument so it brings me to this question- Why do you hate something so much and so fervently yet don't know why you hate them, then they could classified as a 'traveler' who 'jumps on the bandwagon' simply because other people are doing it. But what these don't realize, that the opposing viewpoint could form a consensus where it is part of the norm. What happens? The message gets lost, although they speak the line that's from what people who write and it founds as prepared and generic than the message being used to disprove you. That's where verification comes in. Now when I read stories that are supported by news broadcasts, the 2 main sources are RTN in Russia and Press TV. Each of them provide news that actually is contradictory to what is reporting on CNN or MSNBC. However, such as CNN and BBC, these channels also are state-sponsored and the news they provide has to be reviewed to make sure that the news stories correlate to what they want people to know. Here is the $$ Billion question- what do I believe in? Who do I trust? The answer is; no one. When I read an article, I always question its veracity and if the stories are interesting to me or if the news article has information I need or want, I then google it in the news section, type the key words and read it from a number of sources. Is the truth found in these articles? Nope. However, the bits and pieces I see that tell the story from opposing viewpoints start to come to come together with statements and excerpts that are either similar or closely related. Do I do that with everything I read about? Yes. I can't side with one side without seeing or hearing the other side. Although I might not agree with the information I find, but it gives me a reference in which I can use to form my thoughts and opinions about a topic. Does that have to mean I have to stick to the same topic or side of an argument all the time? Absolutely not! That is the membership doctrine within established political parties. Yet because are humans, we are given the amazing privilege to form opinions on a variety of topics. Now couple that with the fact that we live in a free society, just because I commented on one side of the spectrum, it doesn't mean I accept that message- why? I am not here to join a fringe group or make friends (I am a friendly and sociable person, but I am not out here to seek acceptance and friendship. I am here for the same reason you all are here, to give information and get information about topics that concerns me and help me formulate my opinion that will answer my question of 'why?' Some of you know who I am and know some of my circumstance. Well, here is an update on that- to those of you do care- I got an estimation as to when my liver may shut down and the estimated time both my kidneys will fail. I was told that if I'm not dead by July or August, that I will simply be waiting until the time comes. I am happy to know my brothers and my dad now, they are making my final moments seem peaceful. Also, I feel privileged to have reconnected with my daughter, who is now 16. I want to talk about that because what is happening now is in response to what the state is doing to us. She was born while my home station was South Korea. For reasons related to my job, I was not able to be there for the birth. Also, when I was shot twice while on assignment in Ethiopia, when I was first medevaced to Germany and then on to the US, one of the doctors contacted my ex (who was my emergency contact) and said that because of my wounds, coupled with the other injuries I sustained while on assignment, they were doing the best they can. She took that to mean I was dying. When she fell on hard times and her kids were taken away, when she was asked about the father, she said I was dead. I had tried to find out about where my daughter was, yet I got no where. Then this past August, just out of curiosity, I acted like I won a million dollars when I saw her photo and profile on FB. Not only did she look like me, the comments she made were similar to things I would say. What blew me away was when she first called me and the first words she said was 'Hi, dad.' Honestly, I thought I would never hear those words. The past several months have seemed like a miracle because I found a new link to my family and one of the crazy thing was, I never lost that feeling of surprise when she calls me dad...call it 'parental wonder'.. However, there were some very dark things that really broke my heart- she was in a home from the age of 6 until she was 11 with a foster family where the foster dad sexually molested her. She reported it to DCF and they claim to have taken all the foster kids out of the house and did an investigation. It was 2 years before a judge made a decision- in which they closed the case and said that there was no substantiated proof of any kind of molestation and wrote in her file she was a pathological liar. When the file was closed, DCF sent the kids taken from the home back there, including her now-10 year old half sister who now runs away because the father is abusing her now, If the courts had found the foster dad guilty, not only would the foster dad be put on the sexual offenders' registry, DFC would have to explain why they didn't find or report anything to the main DCF office. When the foster parents and the social workers tried to tell me that she was a liar, I wouldn't believe it one bit. And as her dad, I wanted to get her things for school because was moved into a new home. One of the first things was a cellphone because the phone she had didn't have any reception at her school. Then, for Christmas, I bought her a laptop and those fancy headphones. She was kept in her room after school for 3 months and she didn't have anything to do while she was confined to her room (to anyone who had been in the system knows that being in a foster home is like a craps shoot, you either are lucky to be placed in a home where they only rape and molest you or unfortunate enough to be in a home where you would be physically and emotionally abused- sadly nothing has changed. Anyway, they complained that I was spoiling her and that I was going against their plans to have her earn EVERYTHING. I think it is a good idea if they gave any positive feedback. But, that would be asking too much. Everything came to a head last Thursday, as I said before I had warned everyone responsible for her care that she was having problems in school, yet they dismissed what I told them. So as soon as my daughter arrived at school, some kids started picking on her and she hit her boiling point. As she was being taken away in an ambulance, I was the first person she called, not her social workers, not the foster family, me- her biological dad. Now she is in a hospital for an evaluation and because of my disregard, when this matter goes before a judge, I will most likely get a court order to stay away and not contact my daughter. So, I am being penalized for caring and helping my daughter and giving her a chance to, at least, enjoy what time she had left as an adult. You know, someone said that the state and DCF goes after those deadbeat dads who try to avoid to have anything to do with their children. As part of the now-vain process of establishing paternity (because my ex listed me as dead) was to do a criminal background check and a DNA test. Now the technician who took my swab, asked me about the situation and I told her that I was in the process of establishing paternity of my daughter and as I explained everything, she noticed that there was no bull shit in my story and that I was actively volunteering to do something that she says she does when she goes to prisons where the guys are sentenced for not paying child support. She said that in the years she's been gathering samples for paternity tests, I was only sole male sample who was looking forward toward establishing paternity. Now the tests are done and the results are written down. However, the lab that performed the DNA test will not release the results until they get the money in their hand and the state has said that they would not make a check out until about 30 days after the exam was done, yet the tests are usually completed in only 2-3 days, so they've been sitting on it for almost a month already. But now because of this development, the tests don't matter because after all is said and done, I have to wait another 14 months so some government official could exercise their power and position not for the good of the people but for their own advancement and then go to great lengths to cover their own fuck ups. Now, to the LL community- Do I have a reason, a completely logical justification to be angry at the people who will prevent me from meeting the only thing that is good in my life? Do I have a good reason or logical explanation to support these people who have done nothing but cover their own asses at the expense of me and my daughter and even 2 of my brothers? I said this countless times- the US likes to burn the bridges it has with people who have done nothing but tried to help and them be thankful for what the government had done for me. They repay me by disregarding my health to the point that I have between 4-6 months to live before I vanish in the wind. If you said no to any of these things, you're right and I don't give a fuck anymore, I am already going to die before the first of the year- though I am now making payments for my funeral arrangements. The money I set aside to help my daughter when she goes to college was instead to buy a burial plot and for the hand-picked coffin I will be sleeping in for eternity. It breaks my heart to know that I am not going to see her go off to the prom, I can't attend her graduation ceremony or see the surprise on my face when she opens her Christmas girls....if anyone knows this feeling, they know the pain it is to know they have a child who loves them, yet is unable to see them. Again I ask, do I have any justification to like or support the very people who purposely withheld medical care to the point where I am too weak to leave my bed and be inflicted with bouts of nerve spasms that are so violent at night that I am afraid of getting out of bed for fear of falling down. Now, how can I appreciate a government who stole money from a totally disabled young man (my brother), money that could be used to buy new clothes and pay emergency medical bills. In the past 6-7 years, we've only taken out about $4000 for both Christmas and birthday gifts. Now the account is zero because it was used to pay for court costs, lawyer fees- for a lawyer who fought us every step of the way and accounting fees. This puts my dad in a disadvantage and stressed-out because he doesn't know he is going to do for my brother's gifts. Right now, I am at my wits end. I went through the phase where I would vent out my anger by yelling so loud at these assholes that I rattled the windows and lost my voice. I know right now, anything I say or do will be used as justification for keeping my daughter away from me. They are purposely abusing their power to make a point and they don't care who is hurt or suffering in the process. What am I gonna do? As we obviously know, this site is a place were people can debate about what is true and where people could expose the wrongs being done in the world. I sent an email to Mark Merek to say thank you for opening and managing his site, Best Gore. Also this one too. People have spent way too long being slaves to what the media says as the truth. The news programs only take one said and try to find people and things to back it up. People are fed up with hearing side of the story and sites like this one, allow a person to see first-hand stories and news in places where such stories are censored. When ES left his job and exposed the domestic surveillance program, he joined the legion of people like Julian Assange who takes personal risks in order to tell the truth. The government is using its power and influence to try to get him and Julian Assange was arrested on trumped up charges- if they knew that if he was being extradited for releasing details, the British would have let him go. Now that brings up the point of this thread. Now that I know possibly when I will die and I will never see my daughter or even possibly having her attend my funeral. What do I owe the government? To answer that, if officials involved in this matter, do you think they would give their apologies? Of course not. I am not bound by anything or obligation to keep what I know and not discuss it on an open forum. As of right now, I have nothing and I am defeated and anything I do, even it is legit, is not the right thing. So here it is I mentioned that I knew the final Russian soldier beheaded in Dagestan because his VDV unit was working with us during the "Partner for Peace'.. The people who brag the most are those within the system. Like ES who had access to sensitive documentation and then releasing it for the rest of the world. Here it goes.... ANNEXATION OF KOREA TO THE JAPANESE Japan established a colony government in Korea. The battle for control over Korea started in 1894, when Japanese won a war against China over control of the Korean peninsula. After winning another war, this time with Russia in 1905, the Japanese gradually began taking control over government infrastructure until the declaration of annexation was finalized in 1910. Before taking complete control over Korea, nations with colonies in Asia met with the Japanese to discuss their invasions of both Korea and China. However the colonial powers would came to an agreement that they would recognize Japanese sovereignty over Korea under the condition that the Japanese would stop supplying weapons to anti-colonial groups. This set the stage for formal complete control of Korea from 1910 until the end of the war in 1945. PEARL HARBOR- Believe it, the attack was a red flag. The government knew about the attack far in advance after intercepting cables between the German and the Japanese embassies. The government knew that if the whole fleet was anchored there, the US' ability to retaliate against Japan would be in peril. A few days before the attack, half the fleet was ordered out to sea under the guise of maneuvers. When the Japanese attacked, the US had the justification to attack Japan. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor only for the purpose of initiating negotiations to remove troops from the Philippines and hold talks about the resumption of trade in material necessary for the Japanese war effort. KOREAN MEN FORCED INTO THE JAPANESE ARMY- Reports that Koreans were kidnapped and forced in the Japanese are only partially true. The fact is that many of them voluntarily joined the army, not because of their love for Japan, but because of Japan's promotion of the war as a war for racial supremacy , vilifying Europe and the US as powers who wanted to take over the whole region. But it was Japan that was attempting regional domination.

Here's what I know...

By: jironde on: 7:53 AM
1) I'm a pragmatist: At its heart, isn't politics supposed to be about making life better for people? If an education program sounds good, but doesn't help kids learn, what good is it? No matter how good an economic policy sounds today, if it turns your city into Detroit over the long-term, what good is it? If your stimulus program just adds to the deficit and doesn't actually "stimulate" the economy, what good is it? Unfortunately, a lot of liberals seem to choose what policies to support based on whether they make them feel nice or mean, instead of whether they work. That's a short-sighted, destructive way to govern and as a conservative, it's not something I could ever support. 2) I believe every human being has great potential: Not everybody can be Einstein, Steve Jobs, or Babe Ruth, but everybody can be good at something. A person can be a good parent, a good volunteer, the best cashier in the store -- people can do something they can take pride in. This matters a great deal because as Abraham Maslow said, "If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life." Encouraging other human beings to be their best matters not just on the human level, but as a society. Conservatives believe that everyone, no matter what his race, gender, sex or religion, has that potential to be something special. On the other hand, the essence of liberalism is encouraging people to fail, both because failures are more likely to vote Democratic and because it makes liberals feel better to tell other people how to live their lives. So much of modern liberalism is oriented around teaching people to see themselves as victims, to be dependent on government and to nurse a sense of grievance against the rest of society. You don't become a champion on welfare. If you're waiting for the government to solve your problems, you're going to be waiting a long time. Happy, successful people don't ramble on about imaginary "micro aggressions," "white privilege," and "being held down by the patriarchy." Independence, self-reliance and seeing the government as an obstacle, not a sugar daddy are the first steps towards being all you can be in America. 3) I lack faith in government: Whether you view government as a "necessary evil" or a "good" will make all the difference in the world in what policies you support. Our government doesn't do anything as well as the private sector. It spends more, takes longer, is dumber, is less compassionate, provides terrible customer service, is difficult to deal with and incessantly congratulates bureaucrats for their mediocre performances. The more government you have in your life, the worse off you will be. The more government we have in our country, the worse off we'll all be. Despite all of that, liberals love government for a simple reason: it gives them a way to control people who would never freely choose liberalism. 4) I'm a Christian: As imperfect of a Christian as I may be, my priorities are still God, family, friends, country and conservatism. On the other hand, you can't really be a liberal and a Christian because both liberalism and Jesus Christ demand to be put first in a person's life. If you're a Christian, you're against killing babies and against gay marriage and you support Christianity. To be a liberal in good standing, you have to support killing babies, support gay marriage and at a minimum, you have to turn a blind eye to people smearing Christians on a regular basis. Calling yourself a "liberal Christian" is almost as much of an oxymoron as a "Satanist Christian." 5) I'm a student of human nature: I have a degree in psychology and have always loved figuring out what makes people tick. However, it doesn't take Sigmund Freud to conclude that people will work harder for themselves than someone across the country, that people respond to economic incentives, that morals matter, and that self-reliance is better than dependency. Liberals are forever trying to rewrite human nature from scratch in order to try to fit into some utopian vision of how the world should be. Communism wouldn't have worked if different people were in charge of it. Rewarding illegal aliens for breaking the law encourages more illegal aliens to come to this country. Paying mothers who have children out of wedlock with welfare and food stamps increases the number of single mothers. Where liberals do understand of human nature, they use it in an insidious fashion to hurt people and benefit themselves. Encouraging people to become dependent on the government so that they're more likely to vote for you is an evil act that no decent human being would condone. 6) I'm a student of history: If you crack open a history book once in a while, it's amazing how much you'll learn. If you do, it'll quickly become apparent that capitalism far outstrips every other economic system known to man. You'll also find that as a general rule, the more power that's concentrated in the hands of the government, the worse off the people inevitably seem to be. You'll see that corruption and degeneracy rots societies from within, war will be ever present and most importantly, that freedom, democracy, and prosperity are rare in human history and that wise people should never take those things for granted. The wheels of history turn very slowly, but they do grind civilizations that don't pay attention to their lessons into a very bloody pulp. 7) I believe in the collective wisdom of the people who came before me: Thomas Sowell also spoke for me when he said, "Out of every hundred new ideas ninety-nine or more will probably be inferior to the traditional responses which they propose to replace. No one man, however brilliant or well-informed, can come in one lifetime to such fullness of understanding as to safely judge and dismiss the customs or institutions of his society, for those are the wisdom of generations after centuries of experiment in the laboratory of history." Liberals are heedless, careless and foolish with the past. They call for the overturning of traditions and doctrine that have served us well for hundreds of years based on nothing more than feelings and just shrug off the almost incalculable damage their policies cause. Like an alcoholic who thinks about nothing but where his next drink is coming from, liberals think about nothing other than their feelings in the moment without considering the consequences of their actions. http://ift.tt/1p8YqZk

"7 Reasons I'm a conservative, not a liberal" by John Hawkins

Pushing American Jews To Take Unpopular Stand on Iran GETTY IMAGES Straight Face: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends the opening of the Conference of Presidents 40th Annual Leadership Mission to Israel, on February 17. By J.J. Goldberg Published February 21, 2014, issue of February 28, 2014 . PRINT EMAIL SHARE MULTI PAGE Related AIPAC Caves on Iran Sanctions Push AIPAC Pushes Tough Line on Iran as Nuclear Thaw Picks Up Pace Jewish Senate Iran Sanctions (Fuzzy) Math Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked America's Presidents Day February 17 by lecturing to a visiting group of American presidents in Jerusalem. No, Bibi didn't have any actual occupants of the White House to wag his finger at this time. But he had the next best thing: the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. A 40-member delegation was in town for its annual mission to Israel. The prime minister addressed three urgent issues. He offered a gloomy assessment of Israeli-Palestinian peace prospects, savaged the U.S.-led nuclear negotiations with Iran and described advocates of boycotting Israel as "classical anti-Semites in modern garb." "In the past anti-Semites boycotted Jewish businesses," he said, "and today they call for the boycott of the Jewish state." He issued two appeals for action. One was a stern call to "fight back" against boycott advocates, "to delegitimize the delegitimizers." The other was to renew the recently suspended battle against White House policy on Iran. This could be dynamite. Netanyahu wants the Iran battle fought on two fronts. One is to change the agenda of the Iran nuclear negotiations, which began February 18 in Vienna. The talks are aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear program, preventing it from producing weapons-grade uranium and building a bomb. Not enough, Netanyahu said. They must "prevent Iran from having the capability to manufacture nuclear weapons" by dismantling its enrichment facilities. "They don't need any centrifuges and they don't have a right to enrichment," he said, to audience applause. "This is something that requires firmness and clarity," he added. "It may not be fashionable, but it's the right thing." Secondly, the way to achieve that is to increase "political pressure" and "economic pressure" on Iran. But Iran received the opposite, "easing of sanctions." That must be reversed. "For a peaceful solution to succeed you need more, not less, pressure." Bibi isn't known for understatement, but "not fashionable" hardly captures the magnitude of his request. He essentially called on Jewish organizations to renew their confrontation with the White House over increased sanctions, just 11 days after the effort was publicly abandoned by AIPAC, the main pro-Israel lobby in Washington. All 49 members of the Conference of Presidents have seats on AIPAC's executive committee, so a call to the conference is a call to AIPAC. The last confrontation centered on the interim agreement signed November 24 in Geneva, which set terms for formal negotiations. Iran agreed for the first time to freeze or reduce most nuclear activity during talks. In return the West lifted about 10% of sanctions. Netanyahu called it a "historic mistake." In mid-November two senators drafted a bill authorizing new sanctions. The White House objected furiously, saying it would drive Iran from the negotiating table, making war unavoidable. Fearing a veto, the bill's sponsors, assisted by AIPAC lobbyists, worked to assemble a veto-proof two-thirds Senate majority. Opponents campaigned equally hard. Supporters claimed opponents employed anti-Semitic themes, suggesting pro-Israel advocates were warmongers. Some opponents indeed claimed the bill - specifically a clause recommending U.S. military support if Israel "is compelled to take military action" - empowered Israel to commit America to war. The bill collapsed after President Obama vowed a veto in his January 28 State of the Union address, halting Democratic support. Both sides describe the episode as the worst defeat in decades for AIPAC and Washington Jewish advocacy in general, with serious implications for the limits of American Jewish power. Not fashionable? Well, no - it's not fashionable to put your head in a noose. Twice. Bibi's speech highlighted a weeklong flurry of Israel-Diaspora chatter in Jerusalem. Earlier on Monday, the Conference of Presidents heard from economics minister Naftali Bennett of the settler-backed Jewish Home party, who also heads the little-known Ministry for Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs. He admitted he hadn't known much about Diaspora-Israel relations until he entered the ministry last year. He warned that tensions between the liberal-leaning American Jewish religious streams and Israel's Orthodox-dominated religious establishment - which he also heads as minister of religious affairs - won't be fixed easily or soon. But he assured them he had their back. Among Bennett's reform ideas is a proposal, described in a JTA interview days earlier, for a sort of "semi-citizenship" for Diaspora Jews to participate in Israeli decisions. This promptly drew an online accusation of Jewish disloyalty from Louisiana ex-Klansman David Duke. As Bennett said, he doesn't know much about Diaspora affairs. Bennett also described a planned five-year initiative, costing $1.4 billion to the Israeli taxpayer - matched two-to-one by Diaspora donations, somehow - to strengthen Jewish identity. Afterward he joined the initiative's co-sponsor, chairman Natan Sharansky of the Jewish Agency for Israel, on a media-heavy visit to the initiative's headquarters. They watched a live computer chat in which Jews around the world were invited to discuss ways of spending the money. Some 1,500 participants logged onto the three-day chat, or about one ten-thousandth of the world Jewish population. On Tuesday, the Knesset's Aliyah, Absorption and Diaspora committee posed for photographs at the headquarters of Nefesh B'Nefesh, a non-profit helping Jews immigrate to Israel. The Conference of Presidents heard from foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman, who warned that American Jews face a demographic catastrophe, far more urgent than any Washington agenda. He vowed to bring 3.5 million immigrants to Israel in the coming decade. He also announced a $365 million-per-year initiative to improve Diaspora Jewish education. Aides to Lieberman, Bennett and Sharansky spent the rest of the day arguing whether there were two initiatives or one. A more serious argument centered on the boycott threat. Finance minister Yair Lapid, speaking Monday morning, said the threat arises from the world's "losing patience" with Israel because of its continuing occupation of the West Bank. Failing to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians would "make our economy more vulnerable" to catastrophic boycotts. The prime minister, of course, depicted boycotts as pure anti-Semitism, unrelated to Israeli policy. Thus they're every Jew's problem. The urgency might have been undercut when Bibi went on to claim the boycotts were doomed to fail because of the international appeal of Israel's entrepreneurial and technological creativity, which "is bigger than all these boycotters could possibly address." That could defang anti-Semitism, making it harder to rally Jews to battle. On the other hand, his new Iran mission just might fix that. Read more: http://ift.tt/1jVPl1T

A bank robber has been busted by police after a series of mishaps delayed his getaway. Police managed to catch up with Robert C Williams, 42, after he stole $20,650 from a PNC Bank in Maryland, US. CCTV of the robbery shows Williams dropping the stolen cash inside the bank before hastily trying to pick it up and shove it into an upturned umbrella he found on the floor. But the calamities didn't end there, after leaving the scene, Williams drove his getaway vehicle straight over police spikes and when he tried to run, the clumsy thief slipped on ice and cut his head open. He was finally able to get away in his green minivan but not before numerous bank customers called the police. The setbacks ensured police were able to pursue and arrest him a short time later. YouTube and how they allow 3rd Party subscribers take your (mine) ad revenue. Scolla Drama. One thing that will never change is my absolute respect for each of you. I am NOT leaving LiveLeak.
