Those who chat with me in the chat room know I always have a good crime story from my side of town about every other month or so. This is from tonight, 2/19/14. Article is from CVTV and can be seen at http://ift.tt/1d3kls5 "MODESTO - An armed man in a stolen Ford Explorer led authorities on a wild chase that began in Merced County and ended in Modesto Wednesday evening. Authorities tell us the pursuit began in Stevinson. During the pursuit, several agencies including the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Taskforce, CHP, Modesto and Ceres Police Departments, and the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department all became involved. During the pursuit, authorities used spike strips to flatten the vehicle's tires. The suspect abandoned the disabled vehicle in the Davis Park parking lot, prompting students who were still on campus to lock down. The suspect fled through Davis Park armed with a loaded handgun, and hid in nearby yards. Authorities quickly established a perimeter, and with the assistance of K9's and a CHP aircraft began a systematic search. The suspect was located hiding in a shed after a period of time, apparently using black paint on his face in an attempt to hide himself. He was taken into custody, and the handgun recovered." - CVTV
