Those who fail to familiarise themselves with this tragic phase to Iraq's recent history will never understand the raisons d'^etre of ISIS. ISIS did not descend from heaven; rather it arose as a historical necessity - a forced response to circumstances that had become unbearable to Iraq's Sunnis. It was the Shiites who hounded Sunnis and Christians out of the Iraqi civil service, it was the Shiites who cleansed the neighbourhoods in Baghdad of Sunnis, and it was the Shiites who torpedoed the secular consensus that the Baathists had enforced with an iron fist for three decades. It is easy to condemn the clinical and aestheticised violence of ISIS, but there was another kind of violence that preceded the cold and calculated retribution meted out by ISIS: it was the animalistic rage of the Shiites. Hammers, power drills, and axes were used to torture, maim, and kill innocent Sunnis. Why then do we only condemn ISIS and not the Shiite sectarians of Iraq? Well, ISIS film their barbaric acts, whereas the Shiites always act with stealth, as is customary for their sectarian creed. The Western public opinion will only condemn what it can see with the naked eye; what it does not see is as if it never was. According to Ibn Rushd, the great Arab philosopher, there are kinds of people in this world: (i) those who are convinced by proofs of demonstration only, (ii) those who can be wrestled to the ground with recourse to dialectical jugglery, (iii) and those who are enslaved by their imagination. The last catergory comprises people such as you liveleakers. Yes, you are the lowest of the low. The Bible says of people like you: "seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand."
