Torrance, CA - Police released a video of a man burglarizing a Harbor Gateway restaurant in the hope someone can identify him. The man broke into La Esperanza Restaurant at 22832 S. Western Ave. about 12:50 a.m. Sunday. Police said he used a ladder to climb into a secured patio area, then entered the office through an unlocked door.The restaurant was closed at the time. "The suspect is caught on video pretty clearly while he is inside the office area," Los Angeles police Detective Thomas Baran said. "It's very dark, so he doesn't notice the surveillance camera at first.' The video shows the man rummaging through the restaurant's office using a cellphone as a flashlight. Baran said the thief took some electronic tablets, a television and some cash. About three minutes into the video, he appeared to realize the office had a surveillance camera and partially covered his face. He then put something in front of the camera, but looked straight into it as he did."He is committing a felony, so we need to identify him and find him," Baran said.
